  1. I must agree with you good Sir. I should really avoid posting at work when I'm still full of the "I'm with the Government, we're here to help" mindset.
  2. I get Gimenez is a veteran presence that Falvey is really comfortable with, but how does keeping him on the major roster and sending the other two to AAA benefit Garver and Murphy. If Gimenez stays this means Murphy and Garver both share time at AAA. At what point is this getting either one of them extra ABs and playing time? Needless to say, these are the decisions that make me glad I'm not the GM. I have a hard enough time just being dad, and trying to stay out of the way and not "coach" a son who loves to play ball.
  3. Agree, nice synopsis. I love seeing the in depth looks at the Twins farm system. Got to see a lot of the guys on the list this last season at Chattanooga and analysis was pretty spot on for those players. Especially a big fan of Granite, the kid has legit skills that will translate well to the majors. He may not wind up being a superstar or even a full time starter (4th outfielder type), but the kid can play.
  4. I agree... We get the chance to see Chattanooga come to town a couple of times a year. Saw Felix Jorge pitch last year, actually did a really good job against Jacksonville, very efficient delivery. This year's staff has the potential to be pretty good depending on who gets slotted there to start the year. Also, keep an eye on Granite. Good contact hitter, plus defender and absolute beast on the base paths. Fantastic speed. Also a pretty nice kid as well. (Yes I know he's a position player).
  5. I see your point.... I'd agree somewhat as well. Although, what about Bryce Harper? I think they modified his DNA before the egg was fertilized with baseball shavings and wood bat pulp.
  6. It's funny looking back on TD now, because I don't truly recollect when I started following/reading full time (probably one to many times smacking my skull into hard objects in Iraq and Afghanistan). To me, I love the sense of community it brings and have grown increasingly fond of just not the great coverage, but the active and passionate fans that inhabit its halls. So thanks for all you do... and the desire to sleep in some mornings!
  7. I'm not sure where the idea that a player has received "too much coaching" comes from. At the end of the day, a player can either perform well at the higher levels or he can't. Delmon Young was one of those players who just wasn't able to "turn" the proverbial corner. I would love to see such a humble, hard working kid with a strong base of faith succeed. But at the end of the day, one can never receive "too much coaching", because it is up to the player to translate that into production, not the coach.
  8. I'd have to agree on Mejia. Only saw highlights of his start last year, and while it may not have been overwhelming stuff, he looked like he could be effective and possess the ability to keep his team in the game. Just like I tell my son when he pitches, you don't have to throw faster than the other kids... Just throw strikes, hit your spots and keep your team in the game.
  9. As an exiled Minnesota expat down in South Georgia, it really means a lot to be able to stay connected with everything Twins without that SEC RULES THE WORLD!! / Braves bias that is so prevalent down here. That combined with my obsessively irrational hatred of ESPN Insider, have made TD a haven for those of us consigned to the Hinterlands. Thanks for all you guys do, and here's looking forward to meeting at Spring Training some time in the near future and discussing all things Twins (good and bad) over a good beer.
