  1. Very true I would say... with the exception of #5. On this one I guess we will have to just disagree. Now I'm not saying Rocco and Wes have been perfect in managing the bullpen in game situations... they also however, haven't been terrible either. If we as fans want to pick out the times where a choice didn't work out we also need to at least acknowledge those times where the decision worked (even if it wasn't pretty). When approached from a neutral standpoint/view, the bullpen use has been just fine. Yes, not perfect, but then this is baseball... it's not supposed to be perfect. This is the terrible and cruel beauty that is the game that we love.
  2. I can see your viewpoint and actually understand it, but just can't get onboard with the whole idea of "Robo Umps"... at least not yet. I still don't think the technology is where it needs to be for it to be truly effective. This isn't to say that it won't be someday, but right now... it just seems like there are too many flaws or quirks that need to be worked out.
  3. There is never a justification for Robo umps!! Never!! ? just kidding… we’ll, no not actually (will never approve of them), but yes I am just having some fun ??.
  4. Interesting note about that second part... Nick Sandlin's brother (the Cleveland relief pitcher) was my son's varsity assistant coach the last two years. According to Nick via his brother Jake, there is a lot of respect for what the Twins have done and how they are playing.
  5. I can understand your viewpoints and even appreciate the sentiment. Is it possible the wheels come off and the Mystery Mobile bursts into the expected Viking funeral pyre, taking Shaggy, Scoobes and the rest of Mystery Inc. to the place where hopes and dreams go to die... of course. It's baseball, these things happen. But in the end... this team is good. Good enough to win it all? I honestly don't know, but sure I hope so .
  6. Thanks Roger. I was wondering about that when I saw the box score for Blazer Beam (since I got sidetracked last night and forgot about the game). I figured it was something along those lines. Bummer to see the rough start, but he's a quality guy and I fully believe you can still learn and grow even when things don't go smoothly (also promising to hear that he settled in and didn't implode after the initial bump) . I believe he'll be fine eventually.
  7. Also went and looked up CES' bio from OK State since B Ref only listed his 2021 college year. The guy has been crushing it for a while now and looks like the part of a serious baseball "Dude". Time (and better and better competition) will tell just how far he goes, but the building blocks are there... this kid can play ball. From his Bio at OK State: JUNIOR COLLEGE: An All-American performer at Yavapai College … hit .410 with 31 doubles, 33 home runs and 103 RBIs in 81 career games … sophomore season was cut short due to COVID-19 pandemic but prior to that he hit 11 homers and drove in 33 runs to go along with a .430 batting average … as a freshman in 2019, was named the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was a First-Team All-American and First-Team NJCAA All-Region I honoree … was also a national Gold Glove Award winner … led the ACCAC with 22 homers and 70 RBIs and was second with a .402 batting average … drafted in the 34th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by Seattle.
  8. Thanks for the heads up Seth, looked pretty cool. Very interesting to see the takes on another organization. Although, if I'm being honest... felt a bit naughty going to another site (OMG, I'm such a horrible person!) just kidding... it's a pretty good site
  9. Can't help but feel that this is pretty spot on. Sometimes, guys just don't figure it out fully despite prodigious God given talent. I won't ever say, "Sano... it's all your fault." because baseball is just cruel and unforgiving even in the best of times. Not every player has that "plan" for when their talent alone isn't enough, and at that level it never is. God speed to wherever life and baseball takes Miguel, but I believe you are right Trov... it probably isn't in MN any more. ?‍♂️
  10. Love the write up as always Seth. Your passion for the game and telling these guys' stories is evident and we are honored to be able to read it everyday . Got to watch a couple of Wichita games this week on MiLB, and I have to say that Steer is in total Beast Mode. You might even say that he has really grabbed the bull by the horns .
  11. Sometimes you just have to tip the cap to the other guy as well. The A's starter did a great job overall.
  12. Although, don't you think that joke is going against the grain?
  13. ... Ryan Jeffers is not good at throwing out runners. He ranks fifth last in this category among catchers in 2022. Also, who cares? Jeffers has had four bases stolen on his watch in 2022, and has thrown out one runner, for a CS% of 20%. Yadier Molina is at 29%. I don't disagree with this, but also... bases are generally stolen off the pitcher or pitch selection. Even Yadi or Pudge in their prime had a difficult time throwing out a runner if the pitcher had a slow/lengthy delivery. It just puts the catcher behind the power curve.
  14. Lord Dark Helmet: What the heck am I looking at? When does THIS happen in the move? Col. Sandurz: NOW. You're looking at now, sir. Everything that happens now is happening now. Lord Dark Helmet: Go back to then! Col. Sandurz: What? Lord Dark Helmet: THEN! Col. Sandurz: I can't! Lord Dark Helmet: Why not? Col. Sandurz: We passed it! Lord Dark Helmet: When? Col. Sandurz: Just now! Lord Dark Helmet: When will then be now? Col. Sandurz: SOON!
  15. - The highly-anticipated matchup of brothers Louie and Gus Varland will take place in game one I'm really interested to see this game tonight. Should be fun to watch... maybe not so much for Ma' and Pa' Varland, but the rest of us may enjoy it . Then again, I often tell my children to go out into the back yard and fight to see who is our favorite... ?, so who knows.
  16. Interesting thought, but I can't help but wonder if many teams may be a little shy about spending a high pick on him given how last year played out. I'd bet that many if not most teams are interested, just to what degree remains to be seen. Just to be clear, I think he is a good pitcher, just not sure how good at the pro level he will be ?‍♂️.
