  1. For those of you who didn’t see the game and rely on these recaps ... Buxton also robbed a guy of a home run last night. He’s good.
  2. The left side of our infield is gonna be fire. We have 4 really good players for 3 positions. To quote a super famous eloquent dude ... This, I like...
  3. I mean. It’s a way too early. They do this the day after the season. So anyone complaining seems silly. Agree with the take, generally. The twins had the most prolific Hr offense ever two years ago and added Donaldson. No guaranteeing the Sox success from last year is guaranteed. I like our squad and like what I’m hearing about being big players.
  4. Win at least two of the first four games of the ALCS. Prove we’re a championship contender, and hope we win 2 of the other 5 to get an invitation to the dance.
  5. I’m intrigued. I like the idea of having more games that matter. I like the idea of having multiple playoff-like series throughout the season. Particularly as a fan who either didn’t see playoff baseball or didn’t see wins for 15 years. Every team would have games that matter. Every season. I also like the idea of a ****ty team getting hot and making a run. Even though it wouldn’t culminate in a championship most likely - it’d be fun to see a Tigers like team go 12-8 over a 20 game stretch and win 4 series in a row. Never gonna happen but it’d be fun to play it out for a year and see. So often seismic shifts yield a lot of “ugh that’d be horrible” but once it becomes the new normal people can’t imagine going back. Sign me up for trying something new.
  6. Bad take imo. Last year only 4 SPs pitchers his age pitched in the southern league. It’s not like they’re coddling him along.
  7. Yeah I suppose I can rally behind the idea that, injuries or idiotic suspensions notwithstanding, we have three legit SP going into next season. With the deadline and the offseason to hopefully find a 1 or 1A.
  8. Wasn’t the philosophy supposed to be: We draft high end hitting prospects and trade surplus for impact pitching? Instead we trade one of our best impact pitching chips for a slightly above league average starter who is now flipping to AL? Probably good for us this year. Don’t think it gets us over the 0-16 hump though.
  9. 6 guys who hit 30HR last year Another who led the team in WAR Another who may lead the league in BA Another who may have the best chance to win an MVP award this year. Decent lineup.
  10. Running back a 101 win team in a pretty terrible division. This site leads me to believe we’ve got the same prospects of 2020 postseason as the tigers. Time for another break methinks.
  11. Espn had an article predicting the next decade. Arraez was their selection for best aggregate BA for the 20’s. That was cool.
  12. This list, paired with a nice glass of offseason-whine, really raises the st...akes... for me on signing this guy.
  13. LENIII says twins charging hard after Donaldson. I’d love to see him mashing in a twins uni. While everyone zigs we zag?
  14. Does anybody have a handy dandy spreadsheet that shows how much approximately we have left in the budget? I recall it being ... a lot ... and thus far we haven’t spent much. Need 1 SP, 1 corner infielder. Maybe add RP, and then mostly bench filler. Feels like we have the cash to go after someone - even if that’s “just” Donaldson.
  15. I needed a good chuckle, thanks. Where in DC you at? Just moved to Calvert County MD from Clay County MN. Work downtown near the farragut station.
  16. If we bring back big mike and only sign one of the second tier FA SPs, and trade for a cost controlled SP (or plan on rolling with our young guys) that leaves a lot of money to go after a 3B/1B. I like it.
  17. Jayson Stark only footnoted Lewis’ big leg kick. Really all he had to say. Not “bruh is tearing it up” just “has a big leg kick. Changed mechanics. Me smrt”
  18. Berrios is going to ask for an amount similar to what other arbitration eligible pitchers have asked for. Cole isn't going to even consider what Odo is getting paid when / if he / his agent starts discussing terms with the Twins. He's going to compare himself to other elite FA pitchers who have gotten paaaaaiiiiid in the last few years.
  19. coinciding with moving to the DC area, I’m just not sure I’m going to be investing this kind of time into this team. I probably read every minor league report this year and watched most games. It’s one thing if we’re losing in games 4 or 5 of the ALDS every year. Competitive. A bounce here or there. A clearly high ball four to garver on a pitch four feet away from the target here or there. A Yankee not catching one of our 108 mph laser beams here or there. But we get swept every year. It’s clear we only build to compete for the central. Never for the title. We don’t draft and develop pitching. We don’t trade for it. We don’t sign it. Why bother. Rant over. Have a good offseason. I’m off to become a nats fan I guess.
  20. LFG!* *now I must go back and read the article. Just the title had me fist pumping
  21. Yesterday I went to the game with my best friend from my childhood. I hadn’t been to a game since the game I called garvers first MLB bomba (I live up north these days). What an awful game to go. Sat lower bowl above the first base bag. Not a whiff of a foul ball. My buddy went back tonight with his dad. Sat second deck above the bag. Saw a bunch of bombas. The pitch before Sanos Bomba Dick commented on a fan who couldn’t grab sanos foul ball with both hands, but was able to snag it with one as it was falling back down to the lower deck. That was my buddy Brian. Four bombas. Two Cruz bombas. AND he caught his first ever foul ball. What a game.
