  1. I was playing around with this yesterday with Musgrove from the Priates. I noticed it would take a top 4 guy to complete that trade according to the site. But personally I am not the biggest fan of Thor, he is hurt almost every season, and his performance against above .500 team is not something I would expect in a "Ace"
  2. I believe your right, it was more so top 50 guy. Just speculation based on what I saw.
  3. This is the part that is frustrating for me, This was a year you know what you have and add to the team to make a play at a deep playoff run. I get prices were "high" for starters. but what the use of all these prospects? How many of these "top" guys we had 2 years ago are now below the top 10. With our current crop we are going to have issues like the Rays if we keep them all. Weeks before the deadline I was Ace or nothing. But after seeing asking prices I was ok with adding something being a upgrade. I would have been very happy if we would have gotten someone like Mike Minor, rumored price was a guy in the top 100 as the headliner. I was told by others that he screaming regression, but seeing him shutdown the Indians to the tone of 2 hits I would gladly welcome him to our rotations thats going to have 4 holes in it. This offseason should be interesting, but I doubt the prices of these starters comes down, it harder to trade when "everyone has a shot" in the offseason. With this front office welcome 3 more Perez/Pineda type signings Yuck.
  4. I would be extremely upset. You can claim all you want that the "price was too much", but I know for a fact you can get Ian Kennedy pretty reasonable and all you need to do is take on the salary, and if we don't end up with anyone you didn't try at all in my opinion.

  6. With hearing all the talks about the prices of the controllable relievers, or even the same fact for Smith. I have tempered my expectations a bit and had this exact thought on who I would target! Kennedy is really have a under the radar year. Elias looks like the missing LOOGY piece we need. I dream that we could get one now, just to free up the phones in case the price does comes down on the other elite arms as every claims "will happen".
  7. I am glad I am not the only one, he would be a improvement over some, he would have the lowest K rate in our rotation... But if we are spending the prospects lets aim higher.
  8. Man out of the list of starters you posted, I really only like Robby Ray. I mean I would love to have Bauer but no way the Indians throw away a race to us. I just don't believe Stroman is the guy, in his career he has not played well in Yankee stadium, and to be honest the road will more than likely go through them. For relievers I think anyone in the list will help one way or another, I just want to get a closer of some sorts just so we can move Rodgers into the fireman role much like Andrew Miller. Also I personally did not realize Rosario only has 2.5 years left with us, he is someone we need to lock up. He finds a way to impress me year after year.
  9. I have been dreaming of getting Greinke for a long time. I wonder what this trade looks like, if you take the money off the books from the Diamondbacks I have to believe you could get a deal. Something Boston, Yankees, Astros cannot offer.
  10. I would love to get him as well, always wanted him back from his brewer days... But the cost is going to be insane for a rent-a-pitcher. While contending teams are preforming bidding wars on Smith, I would personally talk Trevor Gott with the Giants and search for the ace reliever elsewhere.
  11. I have argued this personally for at least a month now... give Cave and a 45 overall prospect I feel this would be a no brainier for both sides. But not sure what other teams would be willing to offer.
  12. I would be very upset if we dealt the farm for a "top catcher". The asking price is ridiculous, I guess a .270 hitting catcher with some added pop does nothing for me, we have that and his name is Garver, I feel he work extremely hard behind the plate last year to become better at defense, why not see what he can do, since it seems like the Twins are punting this year anyway. People have said it already, its a position of luxury to have a good hitting catcher. Marlins will probably might end up getting 2 top 50 guys or 3 top 100. I also feel this would be a different conversion if our current core actually turned into what we all expected.
  13. I agree with you that i don't think the FO messed this up or missed a good opportunity, They actually attempted to sign him which is a change from the old FO. I have 4 thoughts on the whole Darvish talks/signings 1) They offer a decent market contract 5 years 110 million (not sure the actual number). 2) Darvish absolutely had no interest in coming to MN, he really likes being in the big market teams. As hard as it is to accept for us Twins fans. 3) If the Twins matched the Cubs offer (6 years 126 million) he still would chooses the Cubs. 4) If the Twins offered the full contract value 6 Years 150 million, without opt out, would he have choose the Twins? Even so not sure i would have like that contract. I was looking at other team forums on there feeling about the owners etc. A perfect comparison to the Twins is the Cardinals, They were ripping there owner/FO for sitting on there hands for much of the offseason when the Cubs and Brewers are adding to become better. They don't shell out the big money contracts either. But they find ways to win with what they have with teams that are just average in my mind. I wish we had the success they have. As far as the Twins I feel this whole situation is about how we can only spend big once in a window and we need to hit a homerun on that contract, was Darvish that guy who knows? I just wish we could just get to the point where we can develop pitching talent in the pipeline that we can count on.
  14. If Terry could pull this off, I would call this a win. But my guess we would need to throw in money in this deal (15 million?) and we would get another low A guy. But will the Twins throw in money? I just don't know if they would.
  15. From what I believe I have heard in the past around discussions like this, if you have a no-trade clause you are forced to protect that player in case of expansion draft.
