  1. The injury luck was bound to run out eventually
  2. Some of the most horrific tackling I’ve ever seen
  3. Another game we shouldn’t be struggling to win. Might have our luck run out this week, looks like
  4. I think a small step would be to do away with divisions, have every team in each league play eachother an equal number of times and have one series against a team from the other league. Take the top 4 or 5 teams from each league and run the playoffs twins would play 7 games against the other 14 AL teams (4 and 3 game series) for a total of 98 games. Then you could play 3 or 4 games against every NL team (45 games or 60 games)
  5. The fan in me loves the postseason for the drama. I just want a more balanced schedule, fewer games and fewer teams in the postseason. I think it’s becoming a bit watered down. Just my 2cents
  6. Baseball has been more of a crapshoot though as far as payrolls go. 3 of the top 10 payrolls didn’t even qualify for the postseason this year. The Yankees haven’t been to a series in over 10 years. The NBA is unwatchable for many reasons. Don’t their playoffs go like almost 2 months too? Their regular season is pretty much irrelevant
  7. Lol it’s not that serious man, it’s a message board to have discussions. We’re all twins fans here. MLB plays twice as many games as the NBA/NHL so that argument is a bit irrelevant. I think the #1 goal of every league should be to have the best team be the champion. It doesn’t always work that way but it’s worth discussing when teams that win 60-70% of its games gets knocked out before they can play at least for a pennant
  8. I used the wrong word come to think of it lol. Griping would be the better word. There has been more discussion this year with the added team
  9. Yes, and they’re unfortunately known as one of the weakest world champs ever for that reason. They would have been FIFTH in the AL east that season. Things have gotten more fair as far as making sure some teams don’t get shafted
  10. Because it’s a “who’s hot this week/month” tournament. Why play for 6 months and then cram the most important part of the season into 3-4 weeks? It seems wacky. And baseball, seemingly more than any other sport, is a sport of streakiness due to the complexities of hitting a baseball (also some arguments are being made about the layoff for bye teams this year and what that did to the hitters). Twins looked like legitimate contenders for April and most of May and then were the worst team in the AL the final four months. The dodgers win 111 games over 6 months and the offense slumped over the 4 games with SD. Yet, those two teams played 19 times at various points during the season and LA won FIFTEEN times. It’s just simply not a sport that lends itself to a reasonable postseason. Games need to be shaved off of the regular season regardless. The season should end on Labor Day weekend. That would free up more space to have longer series, but then teams would play eachother less. I think part of the angst about the playoffs comes from the added teams. I think it was fine with 4 per league. Now it’s just too many.
  11. Schedule isn’t TOUGH but with the emergence of some teams like the jets, giants and patriots, it may not be as easy as it once appeared. Also, the 3 remaining divisional games are on the road. We always struggle in Chicago no matter how bad they are. 11 games left, I think you’d hope to come out 7-4. 12-5 should be good enough to get a bye unless someone gets hot. Unfortunately I think the eagles will be the top seed with their weak schedule coming up so someone will have to go through Philly to beat them (yikes). But then again, who saw Pittsburgh beating Washington, the falcons beating SF and the jets romping the packers? It would be nice if for once we could just go out and take care of business without making it a nail biter. I think they mentioned yesterday that we’ve played the most one score games over the last two years. I believe it. Yesterdays game shouldn’t have been close with the dolphins so banged up.
  12. As you said, it’s all about money and so what makes sense is unlikely to ever happen. What makes sense is to play a balanced schedule, do away with divisions and leagues and just take the top 2 teams and have them play best of 9 or something. Or just name the top team the winner. Or just name a regular season champ and then have a playoff. I’d be tickled pink if the twins won 87 games and won the World Series but I wouldn’t believe they were the BEST team in baseball
  13. I can see that point. To me, the baseball playoffs are like if you ran a marathon, finished first and then decided the champion by running a 40 yard dash immediately after. Too many things can happen in a best of 5 series that determine winners.
  14. The good news is that it appears the division should be ours for the foreseeable future. I think AR time is coming to an end in GB
  15. If Tua played today, this was probably a 10+ point loss. Watching buffalo and KC now…football is unpredictable but the bills should easily put up 30+ against us
  16. 5-1 with essentially a 3 game lead on the packers
