  1. Let's see Cave do what he did this season for a full season before we dub him some special player. He hit fairly well but he isn't anything special in the field.
  2. Why shouldn't I be down on Gordon? Two seasons ago he was great for the first half and then faded drastically in the second half. Last season he was good for a month when he started in AA and then was awful in AAA. Yea, maybe he'll rebound in 2019 but will he ever put up a full season of numbers? He'll be 23 on October 24, so he's still fairly young but until he puts up a full seasons worth of solid to good numbers I just don't see him lasting in the majors.
  3. With how deep the Twins farm system is I truly hope they make some trades to improve the major league team. I would say the only two untouchables are Royce Lewis and Brusdar Graterol. It would hurt to trade Alex Kiriloff since he could be fast tracked from AA to AAA and then eventually the Twins, but if he brings back a significant return I'd do it. It's too bad Nick Gordon had such an awful year in AAA because his trade value has to be at an all time low at this point.
  4. He definitely needs to be moved to 2nd base. Also, Mauer, who is one of the better defensive 1st basemen in the league, is retiring and as of right now the Twins are replacing him with Austin. I wonder how many errors Mauer has saved by being one of the top defensive 1st basemen in the league?
  5. Let's hope this new report is accurate because this changes what happened from an incident to and accident in my opinion. I'd still prefer if he wasn't leaving the club at 3 AM but you can't expect him to not go out and live life.
  6. This. 100%. The Twins going into the offseason have so much payroll flexibility that there is zero reason not to spend money on the bullpen to improve it. I'd like to see one of the top bullpen pitchers signed and then at least one more quality bullpen pitcher signed. Make the moves necessary to improve this team so the manager doesn't have to rely on one or two pitchers who then get overused by midseason.
  7. I'm not sure if everyone has a subscription to The Athletic but these are good articles about Joe.
  8. 16 games is a pretty small sample size. He's also going to be 33 this December, so I'd be shocked if he got 3 years. Edit: Also, who's to say he's going to want to sign a 3 year deal when he could sign a 1 year deal, crush, and then sign a 3 year deal for more money a year later.
  9. After last offseason I don't see Escobar getting to $45M but I could see $35M over 3 years. If I was the Twins FO, my first calls would be to Donaldson to see if he would want a 1 year prove he's healthy deal and to Jose Iglesias to see if he'd be willing to take a 2 to 3 year deal. Donaldson could play 3rd, 1st and DH and Iglesias could play all three infield positions if needed. Machado is a pipe dream but it would be awesome to put him at 3rd and sign Iglesias for SS. Move Sano over to 1st and DH.
  10. What a way to end the season and they couldn't have scripted it any better. His final at bat with a double to left field and coming out to catch in the ninth! It was definitely a little dusty where I was watching. If this was it, what a career and one of my all time favorites!
  11. Thanks for the write up Seth. I really appreciate these types of articles on the new players because there isn't a lot of info out there on later draft picks.
  12. This could literally be said about every single "great" player because that's how baseball works. If you're the only good hitter on the team then pitchers on other teams are going to pitch around you by throwing you junk or just straight up walking you.
  13. It's always going to come down to pitching. The Twins could use another pitcher to pair with Berrios at the top of the order and a legit closer to go with Rogers, Hildenberger and May.
  14. I'm glad to see he is progressing even if it's against Detroilet. I don't care if he's a regular starter, a "primary" starter or a future piece of the bullpen. All that matters to me is that he's able to get hitters out and having some success.
  15. Thanks for the write up! Where does everything think the top five will start next season? - Colina will most likely start in Fort Myers since he only had 1 start there. - Thorpe will most likely start at Rochester after finishing there this season. - Gonsalves is a tough one. Will there be room in the Twins rotation right out of spring training? Will they send him to Rochester since he has struggled and they want him to get off to a good start next season? - Graterol - My guess is he makes ~ 5 starts in Fort Myers next season and if he's doing well moves up to AA and potentially AAA if he continues to dominate. - Wells will probably start in AA and hopefully move up to AAA before midseason.
  16. If people on here have access to The Athletic they did a great breakdown on the adjustments Rogers has made this season. https://theathletic.com/513049/2018/09/09/taylor-rogers-slider-twins-reliever-new-pitch/
  17. https://www.news-press.com/story/sports/2018/09/06/minnesota-twins-prospect-alex-kirilloff-leads-surging-fort-myers-miracle/1210227002/ Here is another good story an Kirilloff. https://www.mlb.com/news/2018-pipelines-prospect-team-of-the-year/c-293675566?tid=151437456 Kirilloff made the 2018 Prospects Team of the Year.
  18. I agree that if Mauer and Kepler aren't performing the FO and Molitor would be less likely to bench them for rookies but I don't know if they would for Odorizzi especially if Gonsalves or Thorpe are dominating AAA.
