  1. http://www.whec.com/article/610/?vid=3544004&v=1 Great mixture of veterans and youth in Rochester I like Quade and how he thinks............ Good Luck Red Wings http://www.rochesterfirst.com/sports/local-sports/walker-ready-to-bring-mashing-back-to-wings
  2. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/baseball/2016/04/05/red-wings-ready-but-weather-cooperate/82667246/ Red Wings might open season in May Some good articles regarding Rochester potential (Rochester area newspaper)
  3. Harrison has shown power this spring going yard in AAA game for 2nd time. Walker hits 4th HR in 10th AAA spring training game today. Gotta love Kepler not takng day off and getting right after it today on minor league side. AAA could start off strong.
  4. I like the MLB.com Home Run projections for the Twins 2016 Rookies . Buxton; Kepler; Polanco; etc. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20160125&content_id=162671830&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb I wonder if they could help with that 200 total as starters or bench players?
  5. http://www.tubbes.net/watch_x0vLodtvgpg_Adam-Brett-Walker-II-Prospect-Video,-OF,-Minnesota-Twins.html Not all bad. IMO Definitely room for growth
  6. Has led the MWL & FSL & Southern League in Extra Base Hits and Total Bases. That's not all home runs. Why are all the other extra base hits ignored? Is that what you mean by has to hit for more than just power? Is he still considered All or Nothing despite those other XBH's? Why don't they ever get talked about (the other XBH's)? Not comparing Walker to the complete Mike Trout package, but Trout did win the 2014 MLB MVP after leading the league in STRIKEOUTS. Because he was a productive hitter [HRs - RBI - Runs Scored] and played great defense. I'm not greedy. Don't need an MVP, but I will take the production.
  7. Me too Everyone assumes that hitters can't make adjustments in the off season and that pitchers are the only ones with scouting reports. Rosario is a hitter and will be better than last year in many categories and the same in some others.
  8. If you're talking spring training only - Why not ABW II? In two years of Spring Training call ups, ABW II is 4 for 10 with 2 doubles and 2 home runs and 2 strike outs. I'd say he makes the most of his spring training opportunities. That's actually more extra base hits than the Twins pinch hitters had ALL of the 2015 SEASON. Just saying.................Why not ABW II? Ft. Myers' Most Likely Star http://m.mlb.com/video/v59835383/bosmin-walker-hits-a-solo-home-run-to-left-field/?c_id=mlb
  9. As good as Arcia was in his productive MLB season - He never hit for the power that ABW has shown in his short career. ABW is a much better 4th OF option than Arcia. Better range defensively and more productive career. By accident he can hit for more power than the pinch hitters did for the Twins last year. Throw in some 4th OF appearances and ABW will hit better than any 4th OF option they had last season. His accidents would out perform last years numbers by a pinch hitter or 4th outfielder. This way you don't waste the limited reps on a Kepler who is more of an everyday option (when time comes) anyways.
  10. Not trying to make a huge issue here, but I think you take for granted the cultural adjustment African American players (ex. Hicks) have to make in the game of professional baseball. Many people think that it should be an easier transition for African Americans because they are from the USA, but on every team in baseball, they are the minority. Just saying - food for thought............... 80% of the people on Kepler's team look like him. Kepler also speaks fluent English. 7% of the Twins last year (with expanded roster) looked like Hicks. In 2014 Hicks was the only African American on the expanded roster. Was it really an easier path for Hicks than for Kepler? Most people think more about the transitions for Latino and International players in professional baseball compared to the true minority of the game (African Americans). This is obviously another thread topic, but I wanted bloggers to think about their comments as it pertained to past and future roster moves in the Twins organization. Not just Black and White all the time (pun intended) in regards to who has the easier cultural transition. Seeing people who reflect your own image once and a while goes a long way in confidence and development.
  11. Glad to see they have ABW II with production numbers that are consistent with his past performances. Can't wait to see how Brunansky helps in his 2nd year projections (2017). Would be his first repeated level since college. Fantasy Sleeper http://dynastysportsempire.com/the-empires-2015-southern-league-player-of-the-year-adam-brett-walker-ii/
  12. http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/2012-preseason-all-america-teams-chart-12961/ JUST SAYING............................. - By Jim Callis too
  13. Power on Deck Arcia 513 Minor League Games - 80 HRs / 349 RBI ABW 452 Minor League Games - 97 HRs / 354 RBI (61 less games) Vargas 454 Minor League Games - 72 HRs / 315 RBI Love the swing. Smoooooooooth 2016 DH and / or 4th Outfielder (IMO) Anxious to see Park mash too.
  14. I agree with you 100%, but remind you that Trout won the MVP while leading the league in strikeouts in 2014. I just want that great production he puts out consistently every year. 33 HRs / per 162 & 123 RBI / per 162 (professional averages). OK - I want less Ks too.
  15. His SO rate dropped each year while in college. 2 years in the MLB and he will flourish IMO
  16. ISO according to Fangraph ISO = SLG – AVG ISO = ((2B) + (2*3B) + (3*HR)) / AB ISO = Extra Bases / At-Bats Rating ISO Excellent - 0.250 Great - 0.200 Above Average - 0.170 Average - 0.140 Below Average - 0.120 Poor - 0.100 Awful - 0.080 ABW II MiLB ISO Rookie - .246 Low A - .248 High A - .190 AA - .259 AFL - .253 Excited to see some of that extra base hit power come to Target Field
  17. I agree. The only levels ABW II has theoretically repeated were his 2nd and 3rd year of college. He struck out at a 33% rate as a Freshmen year (still a freshmen all american) - 22% rate as a Sophomore year (.409 BA / .486 OBP / 2nd team All American) - 19% as a Junior (1.62 K / BB rate - draft year). Just hope he gets a chance to repeat at the MLB level someday. 4 Championships in 3 1/2 years. We can use some of that ___________. Side Note: In his minor league career - ABW II has 16 doubles and 18 home runs against MLB Top 20 prospects (388 ABs) with a 28% K rate and 8.8% BB rate. 12 of those 18 home runs are off guys who are currently on MLB rosters. Like the topic title - "Deserving Attention"
  18. The Twins I believe had 2 extra base hits on the entire season last year from Pinch Hitters. The worst recorded pinch hitting season in Twins history (statistical fact). My 4th outfielder would have to have more impact on the bat end rather than the defensive end for me. I'd rather see an Arcia or Walker as my 4th outfielder simply for the potential to change a game with 1 swing. Walker averages 31 doubles and 34 home runs on average (162 game season) in his minor league career. At his worst - he still does better than whomever the Twins had last year. These recent signings don't do it for me if we are talking 4th outfielder. With Arcia or Walker you don't have to worry about 200 strikeouts (haha) and they get daily lessons from Brunansky in hitting drills. Guaranteed to catch more than 2 XBH on the year.
  19. I know I never expected Vargas or Santana to be in the running in 2014. Just saying...............
  20. I know everyone thinks I'm crazy, but............. If you take the average stat line from all our prospects over the last 3 years and expect some sort of carry over to the MLB level - Why not ABW II? Just saying: Strikes outs and all - he is the only prospect to average 109 RBI every year and 28 HRs. Even if he made a MLB record in strike outs - If he averaged his consistent / normal yearly numbers - You would have your 2016 ROY - Nobody has been more durable and / or consistent in the last 3 years (Good and Bad). NOBODY We have all assumed that it will eventually catch up to him - but what if it doesn't? Would his normal numbers get you the ROY?
  21. Not a bad 2017 line up. Does anyone know if All Star game is televised from Arizona Fall League next Saturday? Which will be more competitive (Futures Games or Fall Star Game?
  22. Counting the rainout - ABW is 3 for last 6 ABs with single; double; home run; and 3 Ks. .429 OBP (small sample size) Based on Gameday graphics - He is receiving many below the zone called strikes. Not particularly good sign for a guy trying to lay off the low stuff - Lol.
  23. Rosario will be just fine. I find it funny that people always talk about pitchers making adjustments to hitters because they've found their flaw. What are hitting coaches getting paid for? Don't they help hitters find flaws in pitchers as well. Can't hitters grow in their capacity as hitters. It might be easier for a pitcher to adjust, but damn, I never hear people talking about how they expect a certain hitter should improve in his second year. Rosario is a hitter and will be fine. Am I the only one who thinks this way: [Picture this] Batter is about to come to the plate with dangerous power and the pitching coach comes to the mound to explain how to pitch to the young slugger. Meanwhile the said batter stands near the plate wondering what might be the new strategy? The hitting coaches never call the kid over and say BLAH BLAH BLAH and expect them to attack BLAH BLAH BLAH. In baseball it's always "figure it out", never a plan within the plan from the coaches? At least it appears that way on TV or when I go to games. Kids just stand near the plate during pitching changes and wonder who is coming in or what is the new approach from the pitcher based on mound visit. They never show coaches talking to players like in basketball or football about strategy. Not even on camera. Am I wrong?
  24. Never argued that Kepler was a better prospect. I was talking the ability to hit the first pinch hit HR of the year for the Twins. Walker who hit his 30th tonight has a better chance than Kepler - That's all I'm saying. And as far as all or nothing - let's not forget the 30 doubles ABW hit this year. Talk about who in the system has put themselves in scoring position most often than anyone else? 64 extra base hits is Dozier territory. He's not Dozier, but those 64 XBH are Dozier like.............
