  1. This offseason, offer both Buxton and Berrios 5/$110 million. If either/both take it, great. If not, trade them.
  2. Does anyone know when the Twins contract with BSN is up? I see this ending up with them streaming games on their own app and going back to having some games on local TV on Sundays etc. Possibly a joint venture with the Wild and/or Wolves as they tried to do with Victory Sports One until the Wolves demanded 50/50 sharing.
  3. Maybe for now. But if they launch this app, they lose most leverage with the few cable companies and DirecTV that still carry them. They're not going to lower what they're demanding per subscriber from the cable companies. If anything they'll increase it, as they would rather drive people to the app. So I would expect most of them to drop BSN when their next contract is up.
  4. You can fast forward during replays on Bally's now. But they have the important plays all "bookmarked" and color coded by team. So you can pretty much tell who won, which ruins it. They would need a regular DVR option or I would be out completely. I watch almost no games live and I'm not about to start.
  5. It might be fine for hardcore fans. It will absolutely cost them the casual fan though. There's no way the Twins stay with Bally's long-term if they do this. They can launch their own app, charge about $60 for the whole season and still make more $ than Sinclaire pays them now.
  6. Cut Shoemaker Cut Colome Cut Simmons Cut Rocco
  7. The Twins will have enough payroll flexibility with the salaries coming off the books and an assumed increase back to the $130-140 range to compete for a top FA starter and a FA closer this off-season. The offense is pretty well set except for DH. There's no reason they can't compete in 2022. I would offer Berrios 5/$110 this offseason. If he refuses, I would only trade him if blown away by the offer. Otherwise we keep him and try to compete in 22. If that doesn't happen, trade him one year from now. I don't think the difference in what you get now vs next year is worth it.
  8. How can Duffy not be a free agent? He's been up since late 2015.
  9. Also, realistically how many guys can you really trade at the trade deadline? Happ, Pineda, Simmons, Cruz, Robles, Duffy, and Colome are all free agents and have at least some trade value. Are you really going trade all 7 of them AND Berrios, Maeda, Sano and/or Buxton? Has a team ever traded 8 or 9 guys at the trade deadline? I recall a White Sox fire sale in the 90's when they were like 5 games out, but I don't think it got that high.
  10. How much more will the return be now vs 1 year from now? That is the issue with both Berrios and Buxton IMO. If you trade either of them you are waving the white flag on 2022 IMO. I would keep both and if we are not firmly in the race, trade them next July. If we are in the race, I would push hard for a Berrios extension. In Buxton's case there's no good answer but I would just let him leave in FA.
  11. As long as it's only for the rest of the season, I'm down. Rocco's awful. Gardy would inject some life in this team of robots.
  12. It's only a question of when. He's 40 and a free agent after the season. There's zero reason not to trade him.
  13. You first two points are valid if offsetting. The Ballys issue has to be concerning to the Twins, but they're locked into a long term deal. And they stink so bad it doesn't matter. Having fans unable to watch when they're good hurts though. The rest is ridiculous. It's perfectly safe to go to Target Field and the team has 20 years left on their lease. Stop it.
  14. Cruz, Pineda, Duffy, Rogers, Happ and Simmons are no-brainers if we're out of it in July. Trading Berrios and/or Buxton is giving up on 2022, which there's no reason to do. I only trade them in July 2022 if next season also falls apart. I'd try to get Berrios signed to an extension though. Buxton is an impossible quandary.
  15. Rocco deserves a higher % of the blame. As bad as they've been, if they didn't play extra inning games with their hands around their throat and hadn't stuck with Colome several games too long, they'd have 3 more wins or so and we wouldn't be panicking. That said, cut dead wood and play the kids. Cut bait with Sano and Cave. DL Buxton. Call up Rooker, Larnach and Broxton. Cut Shoemaker after tonight unless he earns another start and roll with Dobnak.
  16. "Expose" whoever you have to. Continuing to run Colome out there is a joke, It's a one year deal. Cut your losses and move on. Alacala. Duran. Even Stashak.
  17. Colome, Cave and Jeffers remaining on the roster any longer is a joke. And faith in Rocco is approaching zero. At some point, if your team pees down their leg in the same situation over and over is on you.
  18. Colome is Fernando Rodney all over again. Continuing to let him close is a joke.
  19. He is who he is. A below replacement level player right now. Rooker or Kierloff should be the primary 1B going forward with Sano playing once or twice per week. More when he's "hot".
  20. The humor of the MN Sports Gods. It goes beyond the Twins. Duante Culpepper was never the same. Teddy Bridgewater's was so bad he almost lost his leg.
  21. I don't get being upset about it. At worst it's meh. He's basically Rich Hill without the post-season pedigree but far more reliable in the regular season.
  22. Juan Rincon and Joe Nathan did pitch the next innings anyway, and they didn't give up any runs. No logical reason they'd be more nervous up 1 than in a tie, but who knows. The Yankees were Juan's daddy as we'd learn two days later.
