  1. Well, I would love to continue contending, but I don't think it's in the cards this year. It's been a great, and totally unexpected gift to have 'meaningful' games into August, but our post-break play has been worse than pitiful. That said, I DO blame TR and Molly big-time for this slide. As has been well- (even over-) documented on this here little site, we have had 3 glaring-stare-you-in-the-face black holes in the lineup all season long- SS, C, and BP, and NOTHING has been done about it this whole long haul. Jepsen? Too little, too late, and too expensive. Not playing Escobar at SS pretty much the whole time? Inexplicable. Doing F-all about getting Suzuki some relief/replacement? Unforgiveable. And... I've harped on this too many times, but... Boyer? Thompson? Duensing? Fien? W. T... Why are these guys still coming out of that hells-gate of a pen? Contending for the rest of the season or not, we've put ourselves in this unfortunate position by completely ignoring the things we could have, and should have fixed a long time ago. And while I'm at it-- I live in Hong Kong now, but I'm a North Dakota boy, and I lived in the Cities for umpteen years- the lean years, especially. I went to maybe 25-30 games in 1982- NINETEEN EIGHTY TWO, do you hear me???? I by-God suffered, but I could see, that hulking babe at first base, that mustachioed 3B with the Popeye forearms, I could see it coming. Molly, what is up with not giving the young guys a chance to see what they're made of?!? How about Sano playing 3B, and learning, instead of Nunez? How could it be worse to have May or Graham get shelled and learn for the future instead of Boyer or Dunse or one of your other stiffs who aren't going to be around past this season, and should not have been around since June 1. 7 crappy choices in the BP, carrying 13 pitchers + a pathetic bench for so long, it's no wonder we're in free fall now. We've given away too many winnable games through this poor decision making. If we're going down this year without playoffs in Minny land, so be it. But do we have to go down without a fight? Sorry. Bit of a rant. But it's near midnight here, and I'm excusing myself. Cheerio.
  2. How 'boot 12:05? Nope... That's too early... Well how 'boot 12:10 Eh? Nope... That's too late. How 'boot 12:08? Come on... nobody starts a baseball game at 12:08!!! 12:06? Nope... it doesn't feel right. OK... I've got it... How 'boot 12:07? Yes that's it. Great opener, RB-- I didn't know you spoke fluent Canuck. I think you've ootdone yerself, eh?
  3. I'm not anointing him. I'm just saying how about giving the guy with the live arm and a K/9 nearly double of the rest of the bums out there a chance to show what he can do.
  4. The sad part for me, it's only 1130 in the morning. I have to live with this all day.
  5. When your best BP arm is slumping in a tie game, maybe you keep May in the bloody GAME!!! Gawd, Molly, wtf?

  7. Maybe now, even Molly can see the light? 1) Go to May in the 8th 2) Esco is the SS Stop jerking us around, #4. If we win this game, it's in spite of the manager today.
  8. Good to see the boys making some noise from the batter's box. But giving up 4 in the 8th-- cripes, we should already be ahead and getting Perkins warmed up now. Come on, now boys, keep it up. Don't let the BP lose another winnable game.
  9. I am absolutely not buying Smalley's apologist BS. Molly f'd up this game, plain and simple, and Roy should call him on it. All the fans know enough to.

  11. Haw haw haw!!! Yep, the guy who SHOULD have started the inning gets to clean up the mess from the "vets."
  12. Just... just... wow. Un-freaking-believable. Back up the truck, and dump the whole lot of 'em out. Except O'Rourke. And May, who we will never know how he could have fared in this wasteland of a BP. Terry Ryan, for the love of God, why haven't you acted on this long, long ago?
  13. I swear to God. This BP. And somehow, inexplicably, Molly still declines to use what may be his best non-Perkins weapon out there. How do we know what May can do if we never get to see him try?
  14. Cripe, Sean Rodriguez. Facing Dunse. He kills no one but the Twins.
  15. OK, have to break the all caps thingy here- WHAT IS FEIN DOING STARTING THE 8TH?!?

  17. Well, it was shaky, but Pelf actually got the job done, and without that bonehead Plouffe play, may have still had a lead. But he is so scary the way teams the 2nd, and god willing 3rd time through start hitting missles off him. Get him out! Get him out! goes the cry, but then, we have to turn things over to the PB.....

  19. Just logging on, and tuning in. Whew- this has the makings of one ugly inning... I was just wondering as I joined the broadcast, what the over/under Pelfrey meltdown inning would be.
  20. On the nose. Yesterday was already a couple of months ago. It's just inexplicable, maddening even, that they haven't made move one in to fill these two black holes in all this time. (Plus continuing the Santana experiment waaaaay too long). Now we're facing getting into a bidding war for marginal players, and letting the wild card cushion and playoff prospects slip away. I think it's already too late- witness the last 3 series since the break. What a mess. I don't want to see a flurry of activity for its own sake. The one and only thing I'd beg TR to do is get some bloody BP help- way past the time to get it done.
  21. Cripes, it's terrible that a 6 run lead feels scary when our bp guys get in.
