  1. I heard earlier rumblings here about pursuing Tony Sipp- I like that idea a lot. We've got good help coming up from the farm, too, it's just a question of when some of 'em will be ripe enough to be picked. Jeepers, those boys down in AZ looked durn good this fall, didn't they? I swear, though, we simply can't get to spring again with that list of pedestrians and suspects like we had in the pen last year. That was a disgrace, and the most glaring weakness in the team all year.
  2. He sounds like a solid young man, with his feet on the ground, and a good head on his shoulders. It's great to see a kid from a non-baseball country succeed. That said, it's a good thing he's over here, 'cuz the USA sevens rugby side is about to blast his South Africa side in the Dubai Sevens this weekend, so there's that. Heh....
  3. Burdi's 8th inning was all the more impressive- 1-2-3 inning, 2 K's 7 pitches, 7 strikes! Ho----ly Cow! I'd like to see what the gun had to say on those pitches, too. I hope he can keep it up, and get up with the big club this year!
  4. Ahhh, yeah.... me too! Hey! I didn't see you there!! Yes, it was a great trip down memory lane, this article- big thanks to Parker. It's kind of bittersweet this stuff all happened in the pre-digital age. I don't know where I might have photos of that night anymore-- but on the other hand, there are a few select memories for which I'm glad there was no camera around!
  5. Wow, thanks for the great report- It's nice to get some light shed on this area, and get to know some names to look out for in the future.
  6. Oh, drat. Had to go to class- hope there's some Chicken Dinnah left!
  7. Perk-- good inning. Maybe he's back. Velocity seems so, anyways.
  8. Argh. Another multi-pitch at bat against Fien. Didn't bode well last time....
  9. I'm a litlte late with this- no more Tigers for the year. But I came across this one yesterday, and just had to share. Watching a replay of the Twinks/Tigers (1st Buxton HR and Sano triple) and was struck by the terrific banter between ex-Tigers Gibson and Rod Allen- where Rod was talking about his time in Japan. I had no idea he was famous for it!! Try to watch this, but don't be sipping your lunchtime milk carton at the same time...
  10. What a waste of a great opportunity. Fien, Perk, and especially--- Molly. Thanks, fellas.
  11. Yet another loss I hang like a necklace of albatrosses on Molly. Wtf, having a less-than-healthy Perk start another inning-- Every. Single. Damn. Game- Molly makes some wtf decisions. PH, BP, just..... wow. Is it part of some secret plan to toughen the team up for next year? Handing them ever-increasing levels of adversity to deal with? Yeh, yeh, yeh, he can't pitch, he can't hit, the players have to do it, yeh, yeh, yeh, I know. But a mgr's job is to put those players in spots where they can succeed, and he just picks the wrong damn guys way too often.
  12. Just a whole slew of tired-looking arms out there. Or do I mean slough.... seems more apropos.
  13. Because he's Pelfrey. And because the 6th is usually a Snapper-Wheels-Come-Off inning.
  14. Oh, Mighty Casey. I step away for a few, and it seems I have to watch you every minute, or you're in some kind of trouble, young man. That's it- no supper for you. And if you deny me a chicken dinnah-- no supper forever!
  15. Hey- Barbarosa had a scoreless inning! Maybe Molly found out that's the way to use him. NEVER NEVER NEVER with any runners on base seems ok...
  16. Uh-oh-- Big Pelf puts the first two on, after a big inning. What's the over/under? I'm thinking 3..., but I'm an optimist.
  17. Thanks for the article, Seth- I've enjoyed watching young Mr. Rosario all season, especially since it was a bit of a head-scratcher when he got called up, after not exactly lighting a fire in Rochester. But he has really impressed me, and the spark of competitiveness he brings to the lineup is immeasureable. Not only that-- the hands on this guy. Best I've seen in a Twins uni since Carew.
