  1. It seems the Twins set the all time MLB HR record el natural....... Give them a banner to hang, what an accomplishment..... for the hitters.
  2. What's the rule on this: Braves @ Yankees: Tie game, 3-3; Top of the 7th, Runner on 1st and 3rd, 1 out. Yankees bring in Zach Britton to face Fred Freeman. After a long 12 pitch AB, Freeman draws a walk to load the bases. Britton gets ready to face Acuna and then Donaldson next. His first pitch to Acuna he forces a 'grimace of pain.' Trainers take no caution and rush right out. They determine that he is injured and needs to be replaced after facing just the one LHB. Post game: After further evaluation, no damage was done, Britton is Day to Day. There must be a clause to guard against this? TIA.
  3. It seems there is a small community that's rallying behind re-signing Pineada, Odo, AND acquiring two starters better than Berrios. Call me skeptical, I just can't realistically see the FO re-signing Odo and Pineada thinking they just locked up the back end of our rotation. Twins would do well to acquire 1 SP outside the organization that fills the top of the rotation this offseason. Slot Berrios, Odo, Pineada 2-4, and the remaining internal options battle or shuttle back and forth for the 5th spot. That rotation seems to fit well to win the AL Central again. Look to add another impact SP in June or July. I will give the FO credit in coining the phrase "impact pitching." Now acquire it.
  4. Didn’t the Twins have about a 100 point higher winning percentage on the road compared to home this season? I expected a split in NY, a split in Min and Gm5 all hands on deck. Gm 1 was our chance to split in NY. I won’t cite Baldelli not using Rogers and Romo as of yet as issues. They are our late inning guys, one of which with plenty of October experience. I think Berrios should have been brought back out to start the 5th, w/ Duffy and May ready to bridge the gap to late innings. Shoot even Graterol. But glad he got a look, experience, and confidence. He can and should be used if/when necessary.
  5. Clocks ticking, if MadBum goes, so do their attractive BP pieces. Send Brusdar/Balazovic, Lanarch and Gordon and Get Will Smith also, call it a day. If they need 1 more sweetner in the 10-30 range prospect range do it.
  6. They might want him to to complete the Inheritance Infield. Vlad, Bichette, Biggio, and Gordon. Surely Gordon has enough bat to occupy 1B.
  7. I certainly agree that the Twins pitching isn't on par w/ Houstons, or the Dodgers, and likely even NYY unless we somehow landed Max and Giles/Smith/etc. However, I think we can be less than par vs their pitching and certainly still feel confident that we can win a series vs them. B/c I do believe the Twins offense is built well for October baseball. They have beaten really good pitching this year. Twins lead the league in HR's obviously, as well as extra base hits, OPS. They are among the bottom of the league in Strikeouts (thanks for missing the first 50 games Sano). When runs are at a premium the Twins at least have a quick strike offense that boasts plenty of depth to score quickly. Bless Luis Castillo and Chriiiiiiiiistian Gooozman (Bob Casey Metrodome Flashback), but these guys don't need to string together 4 hits and BB to score 2 runs. It's Bomba Squad, and the opposing teams know the Twins still are a threat w/ only 26 outs recorded. All that being said, do whatever it takes, and lets land Max and Giles and play into November.
  8. Perhaps this is stating the obvious, I am only interested in acquiring a player(s) that help us advance in October. So a top of the rotation starter, back end of the bullpen piece. This division is flawed, likely thru 2020. No need to say more (and jinx something).
  9. Zach Wheeler is on the last year of his contract. It would be a half year rental, where I would expect the Twins to take on his very affordable salary. I would expect to pair Gonsalves w/ another top 12/10ish type prospect, maybe add another throw in in the lower levels.
  10. I don't see much movement on Gonsalves fastball or changeup. It also looks like he might really be working to get downward plane on his fastball, w/ varying degrees of success. If he is ever anything more than a AAAA SP I'd consider that a win. Can we send Gonsalves in a package of prospects to the Mets for Wheeler before the deadline?
  11. The previous regime had a tendency to stubbornly adhere to a non-working plan, and showed little imagination when it came to searching for solutions, I read this as 'non-walking plan,' which I think works too.....
