The Twins, with Gardenhire, wanted all of their players to hit the same way. That did not work out so well for Gomez or Hardy, and it did not work for David Ortiz either. When the Twins had Mount Crushmore, all of the hitters hit differently. Hrbek, Puckett, Brunansky, and Gaetti were all a change of pace at the plate. None of them were afraid to take a big swing with two strikes and players on base. Dan Gladden and Chili Davis hit differently too. Some of these players were pull hitters, some hit the other way, some protected the plate, and others let it rip.
