    Given the lack of multiyear contract given out by this front office, it's a better conclusion that the front office is the issue in not getting him signed.

    I agree with your assessment of the Escobar trade. But it also describes the reason it was a bad trade. They underestimated his value. They lowballed an offer and ended up trading a valuable player that would have helped them the next year. Maybe they didn't believe the team could contend the next year so they were in rebuild mode. But just like the first year at the trade deadline, they misjudged the team.

    Based on what we know, it sure looks move likely he wanted to stay but the FO chose to trade him. It was a mistake so far unless they get some production from the prospects.

    Maybe they could get Escobar back from Arizona. He's getting paid less than Cron or Gonzales.

    Their actual first year with Molitor when they went to the playoffs really set back their rebuilding plans. But they did a great job last year to get back on the rebuilding track.

Revenue will be up and they can clear payroll to sign a big name pitcher, but I don't think they are as profitable as people like to believe.

    If Molitor had just played Robbie Grossman more I'm sure the FO would kept him on.

    '87 & '91 were pretty nice Injuries always happen, which is why teams need depth. According to reports, they have a loaded minor league system, so this is a test for the front office on how they handle this.

    Just 2 years ago, the front office traded $2 million in cap room for 2 prospects. People also loved that move.

    They couldn't keep them because they were waisting a spot on a rule 5 pick.

    The FO wanted to rebuild last year. They traded the closer, but the team surprised everyone and made the playoffs. This year at the deadline,they didn't take any chances,and traded all the veterans. I really hope these guys are as smart as they think they are.

    Just to make sure I'm following this,it's the owners fault the FO signed the manager to a 3 year contract and the managers fault that the FO signed and kept poor players. Sounds like being in the FO is pretty safe from responsibility.

    I have no doubt this would have been true. But based on results,it is another example of a big misjudgment by the front office.

    Isn't the prospect in the Cave trade a Yankees top 20 prospect? The Yankees farm system is higher ranked than the Twins,so he probably a higher ranked prospect than any of the prospects we picked up at the deadline.

    I'm agree you need to give them another year before deciding, but so far you really have to ignore the results to believe they have hit a home run. When they first started, I believe they thought they were in a complete rebuild, so the first thing they did was try and trade Dozier. But they misread the first year and traded players at the deadline instead of adding and despite the front office moves, the team when on to win the wild card race, This off season, they tried to build up for a playoff run and we know how that has turned out. Instead of using the young pitchers, they signed and traded for veterans. Adalberto Mejia's season last year was better than the production you are getting from Lynn or Odorizzi. The real home run signing they had was Anibal Sanchez and we cut him to sign Lynn. Hopefully, this year they clear out the roster for the second half and we finally get to see the young players. Then with the salary flexibility they should have next summer, they will have a better idea what to spend the money on. The reason I was hopeful in hiring this FO was that they would bring new ideas and change the operations. I'm still waiting for that to happen.

    The trade deadline should tells us if it's a talent or terrible roster. If they don't have any players with trade value, it will be hard to says this is a talented roster.
