  1. How about when they next visit Chicago? I'd head over to the 'Cell for that for sure!
  2. With Buxton arriving eventually, and with the opportunity to see if Hicks has made the adjustments availible, I'd say now is the time. I also agree with those that have pointed out that we can't assume Hicks wouldnt be productive in LF or RF due to power issues. I remember an episode of Gleeman & the Geek where they talked about a time where the Twins had too many CF and they had to play guys in corner OF spots just to get them playing time. Defensively, I don't see how Hicks in RF/LF would be a bad thing.
  3. I liked the signing at the time but in the back of my mind would have preferred McCarthy. Now I really prefer McCarthy. The whole thing is just a bummer. What bothers me the most is, faced with this situation, knowing internally that this isn't "the year", why not bring up May and let him build up MLB innings? Unless this is a case of building up Millone and Pelfrey to flip them in July...
  4. So, did Laudner not make it? I'm always disappointed I can't make it up there from Chicago for the meltdown. Sounds like a blast.
  5. This story broke last night, and the waiting now is agonizing. The longer it goes, the more I worry about the yankees swooping in or the Giants deciding they need to do something.......
  6. Graham pitched for the High-A Lynchburg Hillcats and Double-A Mississippi Braves in 2012 and 2013. He went 12–2 with a 2.80 earned run average and 110 strikeouts in 148 innings pitched.[3][4] Prior to the 2013 season, Baseball America ranked Graham as the 93rd best prospect in baseball.
  7. Darnit I watched the press conference and it worked. Torii was funny, charming, and entertaining. Everything they wanted to happen. I really hope it works. I'm trying to be Mr Optimistic
  8. Just read that there's a full no trade clause in the deal. So flipping him for prospects in July is out. I was resigned to being ok with it until I read that. But in the end it's a one year deal.....
  9. I get the feeling that the Twins (or Rangers) just recieved a blessing in disguise here.

  11. I get the feeling that the Twins (or Rangers) just recieved a blessing in disguise here.
  12. What a hot mess. Maybe the twins are better off losing out. Seems like it may not be worth the hassle
  13. I'm with you. Would we want to add a guy with velocity issues to a team that had velocity issues?
  14. Compaing the article here with the Brett Anderson piece, it seems more prudent for the Twins to sign Anderson. Sounds like the price tag won't be as high. I'm just crossing my fingers that the right pitching coach is hired and he can get Nolasco right.
  15. I like the Masterson possibility. With any luck, he could be Phil Hughes 2.0 I've been thinking about Plouffe in the OF once Sano is ready.
  16. Morgan is a headcase. With so many young players projecting to be on the Twins roster, I'd stay away from exposing someone like him to that clubhouse. Rasmus has a ton of potential, but haven't we been hearing that for years now? I like Aoki, and he would be a fine addition to the Twins, but I would guess at his age he seeks a team with a more immediate chance to compete. To answer the question at hand, I guess I'd say roll with the OF on the roster and concentrate on the rotation
  17. Excellent piece, Nick. I wold say both articles cited were attempting to do exactly what it accomplished: Us talking about their writing. Living in Chicago, I've had to listen to everyone question Jay Cutler and the old NFC title game where he didn't play the second half due to a knee strain. His manhood was questioned by everyone from athletes to talk show hosts, to little kids in my school. Had he gone out there and stunk up the joint, they'd have been all over his ass for playing hurt and not thinking of the team. It's a no win situation when it comes to injuries.....
  18. I've had the same feeling all along. I felt the job was Molitor's to lose. I've read that Gene Glynn may not return to Rochester, so does Dougie move all the way up to AAA? Or will we see a chain of promotions that lead him to AA ball?
  19. I'm probably in the minority, but I think we get a bounce back season from Mauer this year. He will never produce the power that a first baseman traditionally provides, but I suspect we get slash lines closer to his norms. If so, and the Twins inch toward .500, hey, he could be a Comeback Player of the Year candidate!
  20. In no way am I questioning whether Dave Martinez would make a good manager, but whenever there is an opening for a manager, his name comes up. Yet he's never seemed to get past the early discussion stages. I just wonder what GM's see when they bring him in.......I still think it ends up being Molitor. I posted on another article that while most people dont buy tickets to see a manager, there is some financial value in naming a hall of fame Minnesota native/legend to the job. Not that this makes him a better choice, but it is there.....
  21. My gut feeling is they go with Molitor because there may be a thought that going with a hall-of-fame Minnesota legend would potentially sell more tickets than Doug would. I realize that most people dont buy a baseball ticket to see the manager, but it's been done before (re. Ozzie in Miami).
  22. If Ozzie is hired to manage the twins, his sons need to be banned from the clubhouse and not allowed to share their "opinions" on Twitter. Living in Chicago, I witnessed his kids become a major factor in his undoing
  23. Well, I did say that the next manager needed to be outside the orginazation......
