  1. Provus has it as Mah-lee Gladden as Mal-as-in-Cal-Lee. Per 'CCO then, at least we can rule out May-lee. I'd wager Gladden hasn't yet noticed the guy is new, much less asked for pronunciation, so I'm inclined to go with Mah-lee.
  2. Yeah, and he's really struggling rn too, when they really need him.
  3. From the "It's the Astros world and we're just living in it department:" Deadline acquisition Trey Mancini connects for a grand slam. Houston 6, Cleveland 1.
  4. They miss Byron Buxton!! the most. He was here in April, then went MIA. We've had byron buxton ever since. I'd say Maeda next. Then Kirilloff.
  5. Schobel might stick at SS though. Lee has proven decisively he doesn't have SS chops. Stupid Twins still clinging to hopes.
  6. 18 hours ago USAFChief said: And FTR, JBJ Jr was released today, not DFA,d, so he's immediately available for the MLB minimum
  7. Writing was on the wall when he was left in to suck up the 9th last night. I speculated as much in the game thread. Long overdue, IYAM. He just had nothing. Sidenote: 2nd all time to Doug Ma3rdnkay...Doug Mienkaov... ...2nd all time to Douggie Baseball on the list of "Most often misspelled Twin" list?
  8. Concur. I believe the FO made a conscious choice to attempt to get quality starter numbers by reducing their exposure. I think they decided we don't have and can't afford front line starting pitching, but we can get something close to it, just not for as long. To a certain extent, it's been reasonably effective. Of course, I also believe they didn't think through the other part of that plan very well. If you're taking innings away from the starters, somebody still has to pitch them.
  9. Ok. Alex Manoah. Averaging almost 6.5 per start. Less than 6 IP only 4 times in 21 starts. Do you think that would be the case if he were a MN Twin? I don’t.
  10. Yesterday, no. Had no problem with yesterday. I dont know why Verlander should be excluded from questioning if the Twins starter protocols should change, but OK. How about Toronto's (young) starter yesterday? Can we use him?
  11. Agreed on all points. Nitpic: pretty sure it was that ******** cutter from Pagan that got nailed into the second deck in left. I don't understand why they/he still throws that pitch. The league is Babe Ruth against it. I also hate to see Megill come in and fall behind with that big looping curve. He's got 98-100. Use it. Get ahead.
  12. Because Duffey is? I'd still take Pagan over Duffey 10 times out of 10.
  13. But can we agree "everyone is doing it this way" is also overstating your case? The Twins are a full inning under the leader in IP per start. Above only 2 teams. 2nd to last in pitches per start, the highest number of <80 pitch starts. I agree this isn't just (or mostly) a Rocco thing. It's by design. But let's not pretend the Twins are "just doing what everyone else is doing." Starter workload is on a downward trend across baseball, and has been for a couple decades and seems to be accelerating. But it's pretty clear the Twins are presently far out on the leading edge of that trend.
  14. Great. Just great. Lee hitting only .250 with no power, and STILL unable to progress to higher levels. Looking like another wasted top draft pick!!1!
  15. I believe that's the 9th consecutive game in which the Twins starter did not see the 6th inning. I realize baseball has changed, but I think management needs to reassess their plan in the future. Also...Duffey has nothing. Why do they expect things to change. It's been chuck and duck all season. Also, I realize injuries have piled up, but the lineup is pretty weak. Not sure what can be done about that. It'd help if Buxton, Arraez, Correa and Polanco stepped up and carried the offense for a change. I don't think Polanco has driven in a run since the Trump administration.
