  1. The bullpen should be much better. Yes, they don't get 20 starts from Price like they got last year, they also won't get 31 starts from Alfredo Simon, 27 from the combo of Shane Greene + Kyle Lobstein. A top 3 of Verlander, Zimmerman, Norris could be very very good, with Michael Fulmer likely giving them innings at some point. Vegas has them at 12/1 to Win the AL Pennant, tied with KC + Cleveland for best odds from the Central. I think that's more than fair.
  2. In one sentence you talk about sample size, in the following paragraph you say Arcia deserved to stay at AAA cuz he didn't hit in the 5-7 game rehab sample.
  3. What track record are you speaking to exactly? He was never a particularly good minor leaguer, yeah he was always a little young for his level but he was never really considered much of a prospect. I guess he was decent in Fort Meyers in 2012? Why do you think his bat will translate to OF, it was sketchy even at SS. Who do you prefer him over, Rosario, Buxton, Kepler or Sano? So many questions...
  4. I'm curious what in Danny Santana's major league or minor league track record makes you think he would be a good option down the road as a top of the order Left Fielder. In 192 Major League games he has walked 25 times and struck out 166
  5. You think that San Diego would make a 1 for 1 swap? It'd still be $21 million for a 36 year old Shields (w/ a $2 million buyout) in 2018
  6. A 25 year old DH w/ ML experience had a good OPS in AA last year? Shocking. The rumor is Vargas may be going to Japan, so I'm not sure how that jives with "any team would claim him"
  7. I never said Nolasco was going to be better than Shields in 2016. I will say, I'd rather them just eat the remaining 2 years on the Nolasco contract than bring in Shields for $65 million over 3 years (Or $21 million for one year, since he has an opt out if he pitches well in 2016)
  8. If Vargas was outrighted off the 40 man today I'm not even sure he would be claimed by someone. I'm sure San Diego is waiting with bated breath for that phone call where TR offers them Vargas, Arcia, Milone and Nolasco. Haha, what single player in that deal would San Diego want?
  9. You think it will effect the Twins ability to win games, who is your CFer then? Santana? He definitely looked ready to hit Major League pitching last year, right? And he's not half the CFer Buxton is
  10. Aaron Hicks and Byron Buxton are not comparable prospects so I'm unclear why you think thats valid. Why don't you look at how the Angels handled Trout, while Buxton won't ever reach his level, that's the type of prospect Buxton is.
  11. The only argument against is that we don't need another starter? How about the fact that Shields is going to make nearly as much in 2016 as they owe Nolasco for 2016+2017, and had a FIP of 4.45 last year, and gave up 33 home runs in a pitchers ball park?
  12. I wouldn't consider Santana as the starting CFer for a second, so no. I would roll with Sano, Buxton and hope Kepler is ready by May1. Buxton will likely be worth multiple wins with his glove and base running, even if the bat takes a month or two.
  13. Probably because Plouffe is a much better 3B than Sano, and Sano would likely be just as good of OF as Plouffe. If they really are all in on keeping Plouffe, I would be checking the market and see what you can get for Rosario... Sano to LF, Buxton CF, Kepler RF
