  1. Great Joe M conversation. As var as Gibson vs Royals tonight on righting the ship, my money is on the Royals.
  2. What specifically has led to his defensive improvement? Better throws? More range? Less mistakes?
  3. Polanco just cost the Twins a run with his defense... Escobar would've had that. I also thought Mauer should've dived for that pop up by Miggy.
  4. Maybe bat Polanco 2nd and then drop Kepler down to 5th in front of Grossman & Castro.
  5. Perkins struggled as a starter & then became a dominant closer. Duffey struggled as a starter and now is pitching well so far out of the bullpen. I'd like to see him take over as closer for the Twins at some point this season. If he's the best pitcher in the Twins' bullpen, I think he might be, then he should be used in the highest leverage situations. He was a great closer in college so he should be used to the pressure situations from those days.
  6. Sano needs to be benched for the lack of hustle. He should be at 2B right now and not 1B. After this inning Molitor should bench him & put Mauer in. He needs to learn how the play the game correctly. That laziness is inexcusable!
  7. Gameday shows one to Soto that was a foul. I think he needs to throw a ton of offspeed pitches the rest of this game because his fastball doesn't look good tonight.
  8. Hughes offspeed pitches (knuckle curve & changeup) look great! The fastball looks awful...
  9. Had Hughes thrown a single fastball so far this inning before the double?
  10. We'll start to see with the weekend series in Chicago if the walks were just KC having poor pitchers or a change from the Twins hitters.
  11. Kepler's bunt single was the key to the 6-run rally. I know that he did poorly in his other ABs, but that single was key. And that bunt only turned into a single because he ran full speed down the baseline to try to beat it out. If he had slacked off on that play he would've been out & the rally would not have happened. I don't get all the excitement about Buxton's dive when he mis-played the ball. He should not have had to dive. He only had to dive because he took a step back before coming in. A poor defensive OF could've made the play without diving by not stepping back first. It's great that Buxton has enough speed to recover from his mistake, but it should be noted that he only had to dive because of his mistake at the start of the play. That play should not be viewed as a "great" defensive play. The first dive was a great defensive play.
  12. The Star Trib got the Royals lineup exactly right! I thought that was amusing. I don't know which Twins lineup is worse, the Strib one or the Molitor one...
  13. It will be interesting to see what changes become apparent due to the influence of Falvey & Levine. I wonder if we'll see improved lineup construction, better managing of relievers, and more platoons. I sure hope we do. I'm looking forward to reading all the great analysis on Twins Daily as another season begins.
  14. Does Vargas hit better as a RHB or LHB? We know that Grossman is way better as a RHB and really should only start against LHPs. How about Park? I feel like the Twins don't have a great DH option against RHPs (the majority of DH ABs).
  15. I worry that he is going to get hurt & won't reach 100 games played due to injury. The way he goes all out on every play is scary to watch. My biggest concern regarding his ceiling as a player is that injuries will derail his career.
  16. I'm interested in his defense. It seemed to be worse last year than in 2015. I hope he can play great defense to help make the Twins OF trio one of the best in MLB. I remember the days of great defense with Torii & Jacque Jones.
  17. Hopefully Molitor will make better use of his relievers this year. It seemed like some of Tonkin's issues last year were due to mismanagement. Taylor Rodgers also seems like the definition of LOOGY. Hopefully Molitor doesn't try to make him pitch to righties too much.
