  1. They've got at least one Twin-expat living out here in this basin!! I'll be at all three, unabashedly cheering for the boys. Unless they are getting crushed, in which case I will be crying silent tears in my seat with my hood up. Seeing the Braves (47-50) take down the Dodgers twice last week and break their streak was kind of spectacular and gives me added confidence. We can do this. [insert fist bump.]
  2. I was just about to post that photo!! They've got a great group of guys down there. Looking forward to catching them live a few times this season.
  3. This would be implemented right as I'm about to move out of state... >_< sounds like a great deal though and I'd definitely buy in if I could!!
  4. All I want for Christmas is Urias in a Sota uniform... but Santa always marks my letters "Return to Sender."
  5. Can't tell if you're serious. Do you really think that the Twins, or any major league club for that matter, would have their top ranked prospects on the 'Netflix and Chill' off-season plan? As fans, we may not have that instant gratification of directly measurable results from October - February work, but that definitely doesn't mean he was sitting on his !!! eating cheetos for five months. I promise that no one is more frustrated by Buxton's struggle at the plate than Buxton himself.
  6. What's next for Buxton is the rest of May, the rest of the season, turning 23, taking a deep breath to remove some of the negativity and self doubt, and working with Torii / other mentors / the rest of his qualified coaching staff who believe in him. I can't speak for the rest of the fan base, but this one ---> still believes in him too!
  7. Maybe I'm missing where you're going with this... But WAR doesn't dictate the assigned monetary value of the player. The formula is:WAR = (Batting Runs + Base Running Runs + Fielding Runs + Positional Adjustment + League Adjustment +Replacement Runs) / (Runs Per Win)Notably, there is a lack of n(JerseysSold), n(5YrOldsCitingXAsFavoritePlayer), n(twitterLikes). Like Seth said, it's a good comparative value tool. Not linear to expected/deserved salary, which DOES take into account all of those fan rating, revenue stream, etc. numbers. Just my $0.02
  8. Great athlete and an even greater young man off the field. Humble, hard working, curious, appreciative.... lots of great things to say about this kid in only a short time knowing him. No more kissing girls and getting mono!
  9. Think of the dramatic change in perception if you change that one word: cockiness -> OPTIMISM. Faith. Trust. Determination. Tenacity. Ambition. We've all sat through some rough years as Twins fans, but those characteristics are what keep me coming back.
  10. And he looks like a real-life TC bear... How could you not endorse that?!
  11. Did Carlos Paulino (Chattnooga) move up to AAA? Or is the Red Wings' website just not updated... as usual.
  12. Looking forward to watching you progress in Ft. Myers! Keep grinding.
  13. Thanks for the read Brandon! It makes the game so much more personal when you actually know the backstory to these guys, not just "who's the dude with the long hair?" You keep writing, I'll keep reading!
  14. To extrapolate on that sentiment... I would consider myself a "casual" basketball fan. College hoops, moreso, but NBA? IDGAF. None the less, I am asked annually to partake in bracket-making shenanigans and lo and behold, who won the nearly $400 pool? Yours truly, with this elite strategy shared exclusively with Twins Daily readers (you will be charged the minimal cost of 55,000,000 Pesos): 1) Pick teams from "cities you like" - I lived in Boston, I like Boston. I don't like corn, therefore, I don't like any city in Iowa. Etc. 2) Pick teams whose school colors involve your favorite colors - I like orange (Syracuse), yellow and blue looks good together (unless those colors are in Michigan). I like maroon (Gophers, Texas A&M) but not red (goodbye Nebraska). 3) Mascots. 4) Last but not least, is he hot? I hear objections from the crowd, followed by 97% of the male population saying "No, I swear! I watch sand volleyball all year!!" If people followed that strategy for the all star ballot, they would end up with players from: 1) The Padres... I can't think of anyone who doesn't like San Diego 2) The Mariners, Rays, and Marlins, because they have pretty colors in their logos. 3) Minnesota. Because TC Bear. 4) Tori Hunter, Giancarlo Stanton, Brett Lawrie, Pedro Florimon, Ben Revere, and Robinson Cano. They don't even really need to play... (Source: my head and http://www.harpersbazaar.com/culture/features/g4237/hottest-mlb-players/?slide=36) In conclusion, no. Fans should not vote. 15. ^^^ this x10. I love Danny and want nothing more than to see him succeed, but I don't think the best place to foster that growth for him right now is in Minneapolis. As others have already noted, Polanco has been the Lookouts greatest source of consistency on the roster... and has the added bonus of being fun as hell to watch. Sube sube!!! Bring em up!
  16. It makes me think that it would be SO GREAT if we could have a mid-season futures game with strictly Minnesota's minor leaguers held at Target Field. Logistically speaking, impossible due to CBA and scheduling. But hypothetically fantastic, none-the-less. Can't tell you how many adult Twins fans I talk to on a daily basis who only have heard of Buxton and Sano, but wouldn't have a clue who any of these other guys are. (Or kids who can't name any player other than Joe Mauer.) I love those three, but we have a system STOCKED with talent! Just want more people to be able to see em and get excited.
  17. Haha no way!! I was responding to whoever asked "when does he turn 25?" My timeline is when he's ready.
  18. All of our guys, OUR Twins, genuinely just want to be better as baseball players and human beings than they were the day before. I can guarantee that no one in Twins Daily has the magic equation for that continued trajectory of success, or understands the contributing factors to these decisions better than the guys who work woth the players on a daily basis. Double fist bumps to Mr. Rosario for getting the call, and to Hicks for sticking with the long grind. You've BOTH got lots of people who support you and want to see you succeed. Pa delante!!
  19. Really #Ü@&1%$ close. I think Walker gets overshadowed sometimes by having Sano and Bux on the same team, but this kid is super talented.
  20. If I had to pick one word for yesterday's game, it would be tenacity. Chattanooga knows how to rally!! There are some teams who, when scored on early (ahemLastYearsTwins) were basically done... but the Lookouts are clearly not one of them. I'll admit that both Greg (Peavey) and Dallas Gallant made me a little nervous, but they worked their way out and had strong defensive backup. That being said, I too would be interested in getting Brett Lee up here and see how it plays out. Here is ABDub's solo home run in the 7th. Let me see if I have this embedded video thing figured out... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rqSkYPiJ24
