  1. I'm a little surprised that Thorpe is still being written into top prospects reports like this. Guy hasn't pitched in what 2 + years?
  2. Greene is whom i'm gunning for. I realize it's VERY early but if he fails to pan out as a starting pitcher he could always be groomed into a shortstop. Is this a weak starting draft?
  3. I think Tyler Jay has better stuff than Duffey or Gonsalves, but we'll see. Developing that change is key to his long term success.
  4. Well in 12 games for Elizabethton he was 1-7 in 8 starts with a 4.83 era. Not exactly a good start.
  5. Worse case scenario he doesn't stick as a starter and becomes a lights out RP or closer.
  6. So is the consensus now that Polanco's defense is no good at SS AND 2B? That would be disappointing to say the least if they never find a position in the field for him because Dozier isn't traded.
  7. Agreed. Control is everything and multiple offerings is the difference between a flame throwing relief pitcher and an ace starter. If he was a bit further along with the secondary offerings it would be a no brainier pick, but at this point it's iffy.
  8. One has to wonder how much "pro active enforcement" might effect the performance of a lot of these players. Hold these players feet to the fire. You want a starting gig? Fine, but you better take the training seriously.
  9. I don't disagree but like i said mediocre talent is mediocre talent. And if you don't trade for soon to be MLB talent you have to develop it from the draft so we are back to square one again. There is no easy way around this.
  10. Look i appreciate the optimism and focus on strength training which is thinking outside the box for this organization, but there is no way around the mediocre talent this team currently has. There isn't some trick that is going to magically make this staff better. The Twins have to draft better talent and develop it more effectively end of story.
  11. Not to change the subject but that pic. reminds me of my lab through age 3. Crazy crazy crazy.
  12. The upside is the high draft picks which can in theory if done properly bring in premium talent.
  13. I'm not gonna step in that. All I'm saying is that we need more higher level pitching prospects before these hitters gets further along or we could end up in the same scenario the Texas Rangers were in during the early 2000's.
  14. Exactly how i feel. By the time we have a decent competitive rotation, Buxton, Kepler and Sano could all be approaching arbitration and free agency. Waste.
  15. That was my interpretation of that hire. Basically a coach to keep an eye on Molitor and reign in a somewhat unpredictable factor.
  16. I echo your sentiments. Very disappointing off-season. Sure Falvey and Levine have not had much time to get immersed within the organization but they appear content to roll with what they have. Perhaps patience is the key here.
  17. HUH? ....uh no. Let's just go get veteran players that provide leadership, have a positive impact in the clubhouse, increase the win total for the team while leaving the race politics and hustling to the slimy politicians. There's no room for that garbage in the clubhouse.
  18. Ehhh.....I'd wait another two seasons. None of the guys has been consistently productive yet. Way to early yet to commit big bucks to them IMO.
  19. yawn....more 1 for 1 talk again. Twins are NEVER going to go for that no way.
  20. "Gibson was the team’s pitcher of the year in 2015, but an early season injury cost him six months" What? The guy made 25 starts last season.
  21. I think the pain in selling Santiago and Santana (well Santana mainly) is the impact on wins & losses for the team. Dealing Santana could bring back valuable prospects but it will undoubtedly make the situation worse in the short term. That said, the time to sell Santana before he's a free agent or declines is now or next season before the deadline, IMO.
  22. Depending on whether or not we get De Leon and or Santana is traded will likely determine if Santiago and Gibson are tendered contracts. If the De Leon is not acquired (ahem Dave) and Santana is not traded then i think you tender both no questions asked.
