  1. I hope so as well. He's a tremendous talent the twins need him desperately.
  2. I wouldn't be opposed to offering him a minor league contract but it would have to be structured very carefully with clear goals and expectations. If he wants to toil away in the minors for a few more years (he's 29/30) that's fine, but he needs to do some real soul searching and strictly discipline himself if he ever wants to get back to the majors. He has the raw talent, but his inability to grow as a hitter and see the plate and pitches as well as control his impulses to overeat have torpedoed his career.
  3. Donate money to what? Charities? They certainly do a great deal of that already. They donated 25 million to racial justice in 2022. And routinely donate almost 20 million annually to various foundations granted those are tax deductible, but still. It's a heck of a lot more than some people who donate absolutely NOTHING but rant and rave how others don't do enough. Just sayin not splaynin (or is it the other way around? anyhow it doesn't really matter).
  4. BINGO. Half your cable bill goes to sports franchises in your market (that is if you still have cable).
  5. The pitch clock should have happened years ago. 3 hours 6 minutes is a start, but it would be nicer to see games in the 2-1/2 - 2hour 45 minute range.
  6. It may still happen. Gleeman has been wrong before on predictions.
  7. I don't think he'll be remotely close to a #1. I expect a 4-5 starter at best and more likely a relief pitcher given his medicore fastball and lack of a strong out pitch.
  8. Part of what troubles me about the Arraez Lopez trade is that Lopez is only under team control for 2023 and 2024. I hope they try and extend him at some point this season. I had really hoped they would have made a bigger deal with Arraez plus some higher level prospects and gotten one of Cabrera, Luzardo, or Alcantara. Either way that's water under the bridge now and the FO must make the best of this.
  9. I don't either. Ober just needs a bit more time. I can't imagine the Twins have given up on him as a starter just yet.
  10. He may not end up with anyone depending on how much weight he's gained this offseason. No joke he's gained 60 or 70 pounds of fat in the offseason before.
  11. meh this move doesn't really impress me that much.
  12. Not necessarily. Arraez's stats have been steadily climbing particularly the extra base hits and his homerun's have been creeping upwards from almost non existence and he's still only 26. Plenty of time for him to continue to grow. Arreaz is a good player and he's off to one heck of a start if you ask me.
  13. I would go that far. Lopez is a #3 starter and if the Twins could do a 1 for 1 swap like Kepler for Lopez I would do it in a heartbeat. But i wouldn't give up Arraez for Lopez straight up, not considering he's got only 2 years left on his deal.
  14. i don't know. He's had two acl surgeries back to back.
  15. I'd do a one year deal with incentives on Bauer and see how it works out, and Lopez yes (assuming it's not a one for one for Arraez, but Kepler yes).
  16. I agree I think there were some grumblings that the Twins weren't really interested in Lopez certainly not for Arraez one for one, but replace him with Kepler i agree with previous posters that it would probably be a done deal. From what i've read though the Twins were desiring a deal for Cabrera or Luzardo, which is the right direction to push this me thinks.
  17. OMG that's way too much for Lopez. He's only got 2 years left of control.
  18. Considering the amount of team control left on Lopez absolutely it's an overpay.
  19. Dan Hayes from the Athletic was saying the Marlins asked for Arraez one for one for Lopez and the Twins said they weren't interested, but were open to bigger trade computations. My trouble with Lopez is that he's a free agent for the 2024 -25 season.
  20. I get the impression that is the real candy in that debate. I'd rather see the Twins go big and go after Luzardo or Cabrera.
  21. I was about to say the same thing, whatever he is smoking when he wrote this article i want some. This piece is sooooo ridiculously absurd it's hilarious. Honestly, at first I thought this article was an attempt at sarcasm. Rocco is not a very good manager, period. I'm sorry he just isn't. I'm not bashing the guy personally, he's just...... not a good manager. His handling of the bullpen the last few seasons speaks volumes in and of itself, but also his inability to motivate key players season after season to produce in critical situations falls squarely on his shoulders. I don't care how good of friends he is with the players, that's not his job. His job is to help this team prepare and get motivated to play it's absolute best and ACTUALLY WIN in critical situations, which has not happened EVER during his tenure other than 2019 (excluding the playoffs of course and again in 2020 when the got shellacked). The past two seasons they've totally fallen apart in the second halfs, mostly due to key players not producing and then injury bugs as well. Tony La Russa is 10x the manager Rocco will EVER be. It's absolutely laughable that this author takes cheap shots at him. If Rocco is such an awesome manager and is better than La Russa where are the 3 world series rings Nick? mmmm.
