  1. My point was that saying stat nerds should ignored over player evaluations is a bad way to run a company. I was not opining on the conclusions of the numbers. Really, it is too bad we have to label people.
  2. There is significant evidence in the world that the opinions of employees about the performance of other employees is not overly accurate. We have a TON of numbers that indicate if he's good at his job. I guess we can choose to ignore it, but that seems like an odd decision to make, where we actually have data.
  3. I'd cut KC, or move him to the pen. It isn't my job to figure out where to send them......I have no idea. KC has no place on a rebuilding team, with May and Meyer sitting in AAA.
  4. he's had a great year, but did you look at 2013 and 2012? Those aren't slight drop offs. I hope he keeps it up, he's already done it longer than I expected. But to ignore the predictive ability of the previous two years, and his age (as a catcher), well, that seems like it would be pretty darn lucky for the unluckiest team in all of baseball.
  5. An A for the Fuld trade, really amazing to me, frankly. Not a fan of the Suzuki signing, but if they won't play Pinto, it is a B I guess. Still having to watch KC instead of May and Meyer, F. Willingham still here? D I weight the Fuld trade the strongest, so I guess it is a B from me, though that seems like a hollow B, frankly. They added a league median or slight worse pitcher (outside Oak), and signed a catcher over 30 that was AWFUL the two years before this. I don't see much that really FIXES things, but the Milone trade is just mind bogglingly good....
  6. Well, we can look at the last four years, apply aging and recovery from yet another injury, and reach some educated conclusions.....
  7. Not a fan. I'm trying to be more positive, and like more posts, and it is limited. I understand the database reasons......but not a fan.
  8. Not a fan. There is no evidence in the outcomes produced that he's good with the staff, but there is plenty that he's bad (from his time with other organizations). That said, if they refuse to play Pinto, I guess this is the best option. My guess is that they will be regretting his bat a lot the next couple years (and his awful pitch framing).
  9. If that is it, he gets an A for the trade he made, and a series of Cs or Ds for not moving KC, Willingham, and Suzuki. YMMV, of course.
  10. Not a huge Suzuki guy......but it won't kill me if they extend him.
  11. There are no compensatory picks for guys traded mid-season, so the A's won't get a pick if/when he leaves. edit: scooped.....
  12. Hope you are right Dave. Would love to have the three Ms in the rotation with Hughes and Gibson. That would feel so future looking, and be effective eventually. Feeling more positive now......
  13. Great trade by TR. I'll give him an A on this one. I'm not sure Milone is even median, but he's a legit SP in exchange for a 4th OF. the ONLY negative is that this probably delays one of May / Meyer, doesn't it? Will TR turn around and deal from their glut of MLB/AAAA/AAA pitchers? Or will the Twins have legit MLB SP sitting in NY this year and next?
  14. I love teams that go for it when they have a REAL chance. Love it. Even if it does not end up working, he's trying to win it all.
  15. Suzuki is blocking Pinto. Or, Willingham is blocking Pinto. Together, they are blocking Pinto. If this team is ever going to actually rebuild from within, they need to get the young guys up here, not sitting in NY or CT.
  16. There are names.....some of the current chaffe could be cut though, imo, without much loss. I do agree, I would not add Buxton this year, as much as it pains me type that.
  17. My five..... Arcia, Santana, Meyer, May, Buxton.....with a Rosario bonus, though he is not doing what I had hoped this year.
  18. I have seriously tried to be more positive lately. Today, I am not succeeding......
  19. Not deleting posts.....sorry. When typing up a post, there used to be a cancel button. I know it is redundant to "back" or just erasing the post, but it did make it easy for me type a tirade. Read it. And hit cancel before posting my stupidity.......
  20. Brock, did there used to be a "cancel" button by the posts? Believe it or not, I'd sometimes delete my tirades and not post them. I assume now, I should just hit "back' or something else. I liked the button, but if you are doing agile, you can put this at the bottom of your user stories......
  21. It is not about salary. Back of the pen guys should be fungible assets you can option up and down to AAA. This is one reason they have issues, imo, they do not manage the roster properly.
