  1. Mind. boggling. They are on pace to lose 88+ games again, and there is only 1 hole to fill? I don't even know how to respond to that........
  2. I can't think of the last time they traded a legit prospect, slow developing or not.....
  3. Well, he pitched in college this year, then went straight here, so I would guess this is a lot of innings for him. but maybe not. If he won't be in MN next year, not sure why you'd send him to the AFL, so hopefully this means a serious fast track.
  4. I don't think Sano is here next year. Keep Plouffe. Quit trading away the present for a future that may never come. if they get a bottleneck, then figure it out.
  5. I admit to liking the watcher of bird's posts the last couple of days...... I have no idea if Vargas can field. I am pretty sure Mauer could play LF as well as any LFer they are likely to have on the roster next year (that can actually hit). Unless Hicks can learn to hit, and they play him in LF (which is what I would do if they don't sign a good player).
  6. Do we know Vargas can't play first? Who would be a better overall player in LF than Mauer for the next two years or so (combination hitting and fielding)?
  7. Have him catch 60-70 or so games, at least. If they don't think he can catch, they should deal him to someone that does (and regret it).
  8. Always been a fan. Glad things are going well for him.
  9. Melky, Melky, Melky (assuming Buxton is not up next year and Santana is not in LF).
  10. Tomas.....not as good a prospect as the guys last year (and the year before, and the year before), that they passed on, because, well, there was no good reason to pass on them. I can't see how anyone thinks they would sign a Cuban. Those guys have been sitting there for a few years now, and they have passed on them over and over, even though they are younger, by far, than MLB free agents.
  11. I did say "legit MLB LFer", right? I did put that part in there, right? There always seems to be a reason for this team NOT to try to get better, according to some posters. I'd prefer they try to get better. YMMV, you may want to wait 3 more years. Some fans don't.
  12. I don't know......if you could sign a legit MLB LFer, why not? Heck, if they could get a real LF and RF, why not? If they are real players, not old and declining, I don't see the harm in signing them. Having too many players is better than having no players and some prospects that might work out, imo.
  13. Few holes to fill? On a team about to lose 88 games? It is good they finally faced reality in the rebuild, but if they have few holes to fill, why are they so bad?
  14. No doubt they try to make him a starter. I say go hire the Pirates' pitching coaches to do it....
  15. Another nice trade. Doesn't fix the world, but a winning trade nonetheless. Impressed they got a player for him, frankly.
  16. thanks, not that I expect to change my profile from my phone......but you never know.
  17. I guess it didn't matter. They still were the worst SP in the league. They still lost 90 games. In the long run, all it did was, nothing, I guess. Irrationally, I was bothered by St. Peter's smugness "we will play meaningful games in September", and the incongruity of the actual effort to improve the team. I understand that shouldn't bother me. I understand that I was smart enough to know that just wasn't true. But, they claimed to be trying to win. They kept Willingham and Doumit. They didn't really commit to rebuild, they seemed to actually think they could win. And, to me, KC's signing was not consistent with that, and it bothered me. Still does. And, it is irrational, because I knew that they would be bad..... Me? I would have tried to win Greinke. But I understand I will never be in charge of this team, and I didn't expect to try.
  18. No, he is not a wizard. That makes the off season no more a winner. They got a bad pitcher and were bad. Are we supposed to like that? I don't know how that thought can't stick. They were so awful, that we are supposed to be happy they signed bad pithers?
