I guess it didn't matter. They still were the worst SP in the league. They still lost 90 games. In the long run, all it did was, nothing, I guess. Irrationally, I was bothered by St. Peter's smugness "we will play meaningful games in September", and the incongruity of the actual effort to improve the team. I understand that shouldn't bother me. I understand that I was smart enough to know that just wasn't true. But, they claimed to be trying to win. They kept Willingham and Doumit. They didn't really commit to rebuild, they seemed to actually think they could win. And, to me, KC's signing was not consistent with that, and it bothered me. Still does. And, it is irrational, because I knew that they would be bad..... Me? I would have tried to win Greinke. But I understand I will never be in charge of this team, and I didn't expect to try.
