  1. At this point it's fence straddling if they do not go whole hog and trade Dozier, Morrison, Rodney and Lynn.
  2. No one against selling was ignoring that, not any more than your side is ignoring the sweep in Toronto, win in Boston, and the upcoming games against Cleveland. Right?
  3. You should rethink which side that angst is coming from. The original poster acknowledged that the players have failed to this point. But, there were signs, like last year, that the players were starting to turn it around. The original poster wanted the front office to let the season play out. I agreed completely. That's basically it.
  4. I am sympathetic to this, somewhat; the story of KC and Houston was losing 100 games a year in order to get high draft picks. But we already have those top picks. Royce Lewis, Rooker, and Larnach (or Kirilloff), are already in the organization. We don't need to "re-blow it up." I don't see how retaining Escobar would have interfered with their development.
  5. I guess we just see a huge difference between acclimating and contributing to wins. The only position player who I see contributing next year would be Rooker.
  6. Well, the same front office selling Escobar for lottery tickets is the same front office who brought us Lynn, Morrison, Rodney, who can't close out a one run game, Duke and Reed, who have been ok at times but overall average, and Odorizzi, who has been average though I do like Odorizzi. You can say in other threads that all of those FA signings were "smart" signings, but that doesn't make it so. Not everyone was on board or happy about the offseason.
  7. So the whole season for you boils down to a 3 game series. That all you got?
  8. Also, I love Dozier, but I just think Father Time is not being kind to him. We see how Kipnis and others of his type are not aging well. At this point I hope the front office trades Dozier to a winner. Get whatever you can get. Might as well complete the 2018 sell off. Why go half way on that, too? I am in complete agreement with the original post. I want to see a six month pennant race in 2019.
  9. I believe in Kepler, still believe in Buxton, have always believed in Gibson, but the other name you are looking for is Eduardo Escobar. See what I mean?
  10. Record and standings don't lie, except for when they do. You see, if I state that this Front Office inherited an 85-win team from 2017 and has turned it into a sell-off in 2018, then I'm told that they weren't as good as their record in 2017. So, no, that is just your opinion.
  11. no surprise, they just traded away their second best player after 4 wins in a row.
  12. The front office appears to have pulled a 180-degree reversal. Not too many days ago we were led to believe that there was no timetable, and Sano's own actions and performance would dictate when he was ready to return, because it was too important not to get this right. But this call up coincides with simply needing an infielder.
  13. You mean, like, trading away good players when it appeared they were out of the race?
  14. I do not share that assessment of Eduardo Escobar. I also doubt Severino is a good comp to the guys Arizona unloaded on us.
  15. We could also ask them to quit selling top players at trade deadlines! twice in two years
  16. This "awful huffiness" was mostly a product of Levine's storytelling abilities, about how serious the Twins were about pursuing Ohtani and Darvish. Maybe fans should be more critical of what the front office tells them?
  17. Bravo to Molitor letting it ride with Gibson. No one would have batted an eye if Gibby had been pulled after seven, or even the sixth.
  18. Yeah that was an unnecessary risk by Rosario in the sixth. You can see what he was thinking but it took him too long to pop up from his slide and he was out by a good amount, even with the poor throw.
  19. My impression is that Garver caught about 2/3 of the time after Castro went down, but has only caught 50/50 since the start of July, and this additional rest has allowed him to refresh and cut down on the glaring mistakes. So I am ok with Garver continuing to get no more than half the games behind the dish for now.
  20. Ervin needs a 40 man spot, and Provus and Gladden said something today to the effect, "we all know who is being released to make room." Of course they didn't drop any hints. So, we'll see.
  21. How about, Escobar for Escobar! Seriously though, receiving another Escobar type would be a great return. I have some doubts on the likelihood of that, but we'll see.
  22. Ok, sell, but what are people hoping for? Honest question. Another Tyler Watson type? Bonus money we will not spend? (I'm sure Watson is a terrific guy.) I think my position is pretty close to chief's. Though I understand he will probably be traded, I think I would rather watch Dozier the whole year, let him have a curtain call late in September (heck I might even attend such a game in person to applaud him) than have him shipped off suddenly on the 31st.
