  1. Overwhelming. I had to check and see where they will be playing this year and found that we once again have a new stadium
  2. He got a nice contract - more than independent ball players can dream of. He seems like a great guy. So my prediction is that he pitches out his contract in the minor leagues, saves money and enjoys a great life with lots of stories to share.
  3. These projections actually seem pretty well in line with my personal thoughts (I don't make projections). I am happy to see someone else feel that Gallo's defense is not gold glove like so many argue. I have been too outspoken on too many forums about Gallo so I will just absorb the fact that this is my expectation too and I am sorry if they and I are both right. Alcala is hard to project. Injured pitchers have such different roads back to recovery. If he can move forward from his previous time on the mound I expect him too be much better than this and much better than the last projection - Lopez. I can see Alcala move up next to Duran in the rankings if his recovery is finished. Lopez is a puzzle - 1/2 good year is all he has to make us think he will be good. I hope he can find that magic again, but I would not project it. Larnach is a sad story. Like Lewis I kept thinking "this will be his year" and like Lewis we keep seeing injuries that take him out of the lineup. Does he stay healthy. Does he reach what we dream for him? I don't know how you project from his last two years.
  4. I love baseball history - this is a nice break from all the Twins speculation. Give us more.
  5. On Gleeman and the Geek they said that the message is that they are not going to do that. I think they should.
  6. There is no projection system for body failure. I have had too many operations on too many parts to think that they can just train him to succeed. I want him to. It would be just great, but we have seen this story (Pete Reiser) before. Good luck to him, good luck the new trainer (he can help make a difference) and good luck to those body parts!
  7. I am not completely with this strategy. It worked for Johann Santana to transition to BP and then the rotation. I have seen this over the years and it is not a bad strategy. I prefer to see young arms over Megill, Pagan, and Lopez in the pen.
  8. I believe it is our favorite holiday - April 1. Come on - Pagan? All in the threes or better? And this is with the shift being gone.
  9. I hope he forces the Twins to be aggressive. He really has the feeling of a "natural". I do not know if he is better than Lewis because poor Royce has missed too many games over the last few years to make a real on field comparison. I do hope he comes back strong and the log jam in the Twins IF will be interesting in the next couple years.
  10. Only 23 but it seems like we have seen him on this list at least 10 years. Did we sign him at 13? I hope for health.
  11. I would love to see him soar, but why do good Twins stories always end with an injury. Get well quick and rush up to the majors. Potentially this is Soto, Griffey kind of talent which means a quick rise to the majors if more injuries don't derail him. I might put him at number one on this list.
  12. For all of you that list my least favorite player for 3B - Gallo, three years he played games at 3B, 92 total, his defensive runs saved for those games is -11. No he is not an option. Give me Farmer, then Gordon. Julien has not shown he can field anywhere - but I do like him.
  13. I want the electronic strike zone - true strikes, no framed strikes, but that does not seem to be considered. The new rules will be interesting, but I still want games to be no longer than 2 1/2 hours. Do any of these lead to that? I also want the SB back into the game and that might be possible now. What is the Ohtani rule for position player and pitcher? There are more players who started as pitchers in college and high school I would like to see those skills perfected. The extra inning rule is interesting and certainly changes the game a lot. But then games always change - LeBron James just took the all time points record in an era when 3 Point baskets are prevalent - he made 2237 3 point baskets, Kareem had one. If we worry about change that James is still 2236 points behind Kareem. Baseball accepts the distorted HR records that have happened since 1986 even if we do not accept the players. Thus we just keep moving along and the same will be true of the ghost runner. The shift rule is more egregious - it just recognizes that players are not willing to learn how to adjust their batting. Looking at baseball long run - as we try to compare stats the mound has been moved back and the mound has been lowered, balls have been juiced, Black players were not part of early baseball until Jackie Robinson, ball parks have been adjusted to shorter, longer, higher fences, and players have benefitted from better conditioning and diets. Change is everywhere. So we play on and I am looking forward to the new season no matter what the new rules are.
  14. It seems to early to have him this high, although the Twins prospects are not at the level of previous years. I love the enthusiasm, but I want to see him at a higher level before I start dreaming of an Ace.
  15. I love his story. With Pagan and Lopez in the BP he is far from the big question mark. I would love to see him continue to succeed.
  16. I don't understand - I see his name in just about every essay about this year. How is he forgotten?
  17. I love all the comments. It is obvious that we see Pagan in a different light than the FO. I have no faith in him. Lopez has only had 1/2 of one season where he shined. So returning to form might actually be what he did once he got here. I hope not. Selecting one stat like FIP is not satisfying to me. The real test is in the standings and we were below 500 and we were a bullpen dependent team with 4 innings a game coming out of the pen. I am hoping, but not buying in until I see it in action.
  18. Right now he is DH - and if we put him there the team would have the on base hitter that Arraez was. I would love to see him get to be a decent fielder some place, but at this age and stage that does not seem likely. His bat just has so much promise, but he could also be a trade bait like Steer and Encarnation-Strand.
  19. Very interesting post - thank you. Mark Teixiera also suffered a wrist injury. Here is another good look at wrist injuries from 2014
  20. How about doing the math? I would like to know what the results are. "There were 1.39 home runs hit per team game in 2019, a whopping 11 percent more than the previous record, and 20 percent more than any other season in major league history." SBNation "In all, half the teams in the entire league set franchise records for home runs in 2019, led by the Twins beating their previous team mark by 36 percent." Now take us further with your thoughts.
  21. This just further creates questions about our redundancy of lefty OFs on the team. Please - there has to be a trade.
  22. Not over rated, it just meant that they showed us great ball for the regular season and then we were bounced. The trouble was that we then expected this to continue, but the team and the ball both changed. In baseball you just celebrate each good year.
  23. ACE seems to be a term we apply to those on a HOF track - those who just seem like the will win no matter the game or the opponent. That is not Grey. His experience with the Yankees might demonstrate that the big lights are not for him. Can he be our number one - sure, I expect him to be, but I think the only thing that settles ACE debates is performance on the field. 10 years - 24.9 WAR. An average of 2.5 - last year he was 2.4. That is who he is and I am content with that.
  24. I am ready for the season! If we think we can compete with Cleveland we should stop referring to the weak central since Cleveland showed it is more than just a good team. How much did the others improve?? But with the current scheduling it is not the division that is going to count as much as it has in the past.
