  1. I was wondering about that. I liked the first season, but thought for season 2 they will need to be a little more coherent, because the total weirdness will start to wear thin. I don't have cable, so I won't be able to judge for myself until I can stream it on Hulu. Anyone watch Dark on Netflix? It was recommended to me as being a "darker" Stranger Things. I have only watched on episode, but it was pretty creepy.
  2. There is a feeling of deja vu. In 2015 they seemed to have turned the corner and people expected that to be built on in 2016. Not only did they not get better in 2016 they dropped off a cliff. It is odd because it is not like there are radical difference in make-up of the team from year to year, but the results were completely different. Hopefully they can pull out of this tail spin, because it will a shame if they are completely irrelevant by Memorial Day and 2017 like 2015 won't seem like a cruel tease in retrospect.
  3. I can understand why he aggravates some people, but I would be hesitant to imply he got complacent because of the contract. Other factors are he lost his Metrodome home-run sweet spot, he had health issues in 2011, and again post concussion the end of 2013 to who knows when. There are too many other factors since his contract kicked in to do a comparison pre-contract and post-contract numbers.
  4. I think baseball more than any other sport, even your favorite players are going to aggravate you from time to time. The chance of failure is about 70% regardless of their game-plan, and it is easy to second guess them once the at-bat is over.
  5. Teenage girls are usually pretty laid back about their hair -- you must have been pretty surprised at her reaction. My sisters were in high school during the home perm era. It did not always (ever?) end well.
  6. I think he if gets a few more solid years at 1B it will help him, not necessarily because the numbers will HOF worthy, but it will help show that his subpar seasons with the big drop-off were due to the concussions. It also adds to the story of someone who always was at the top of his game sticking with it and playing through some bad seasons and having a bit of a come-back.
  7. I would hate to think he would get penalized due to the fact that he slipped under 50% because he was able to play at a major league level into his mid to late 30's. That should not take away from what he did while he was catcher.
  8. I think you are just being respectful of the Twins Daily site where math is generally frowned upon, and counting is veers dangerously towards math (although the no-math rule might be more of a game threads policy).
  9. I think they are predicting tonight and tomorrow almost sure to be cancelled and a strong chance for Sunday as well.
  10. It is too bad they probably won't be able to build on this momentum and take a few more from the Sox since the weather gods show they do not care about the Twins and their home stand. Hopefully winter will be over by the All-Star break.
  11. It is nice that Joe's 2000th hit was one that mattered on a team that has some hope rather than a meaningless hit in a game we were sure to lose and in one of the dark seasons. Also nice that it was at a time that he finished the night leading the league in batting average and batting over 400. Not that the 400 is sustainable (although that would be nice).
  12. For some people New World is a piece of music, for Chief it is how he used to refer to the Americas.
  13. If you think 2000 is good, I am looking forward to when Joe's 2164th hit drives in the winning run of Game 7 of the World Series.
  14. You would think he would be especially appropriate in honor of Joe and his 2000th hit.
  15. I did read some trivia that Mauer had about three hits since the last time the Wolves were in the play-offs, so he managed to get about 1995 hits in between play-off appearances.
  16. You are saying he is faster than Joe and would have scored on Sano's double?
  17. The Mauer debate is getting a little math-y (and maybe physic-y). Is that allowed?
  18. One God's sense of humor is one mortal's anguish and pain. It seems like the Baseball Gods are like Greek and Roman gods of Chief's youth - amusing themselves by playing tricks on the people of earth.
  19. He might have that duck boat. http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0402/espn_homecoming_mauer17_800.jpg
  20. I think the most appropriate Mauer charge would be charging the umpire the next time he gets a called third strike. "You think you have a better eye than me Dirt Bag?! I am Joe Mauer!" There is the story he charged his brother and ended up putting his had through some glass in the bathroom door to try and reach him. Since that was probably the late 90's, he is due for another eruption soon.
  21. My hometown only had a cafe and an A&W (which was only open in the summer). That is why we had to do our fine dining in Ely or Virginia. I think Andy Griffith also might have been our sheriff.
