  1. He is a great leader, but his time has come and gone for the Twins I feel. A front office can not seriously plan for a 43 year old to have any sort of rebound campaign. It's not financially or logistically the right move for this current team. Correa has taken any sort of leadership role they would hope to get from Cruz.
  2. Until he makes it through a full season somewhat healthy, the rest days are going to stick around. I agree that it is unfortunate. But he has more value 4 days a week than he does 0 days a week. I am willing to bet he is the DH more than 40 times this upcoming season. He would have been last season, if he had not sat out or if Gary Sanchez did not go on the hot streak he did. Also, would be surprised if anyone on the team goes much above 50 games at DH (unless they sign a full-time DH.) Arraez, Correa, Gallo, Buxton will get the bulk of it (30-40 games) and Polanco, Larnach, Kiriloff, ect will get the leftovers. It's not necessarily how I would handle it, but I believe it is the reality.
  3. Andrew McCutchen is returning to Pittsburg and joining the Pirates on a one year deal. After getting rid of Garlick, the Twins have an obvious need for a RH OF bat. McCutchen would have fit that bill perfectly. Trey Mancini is another obvious target. Any outside of the box trade ideas to fill this need?
  4. Agree with this. I'd have Kiriloff be the primary 1B. Have always heard that he is a plus defender at 1B.
  5. Although I wish they would sign Bauer, sounds like they've made it clear they will not show interest in him. Could that change? Yes. Adding Lopez and Bauer alone would give you one of the top rotations in the AL. Sale would definitely push you into 'best team in the AL' discussion.
  6. This is honestly happening a little faster than I expected. Have to imagine it will be in majors in the next couple of years. Perhaps even 2024.
  7. I heard that too. And speculated that was part of the reason they brought in Gallo.
  8. IF Kepler is not traded that would almost guarantee that Wallner and Larnach start at AAA I would think. I still think they find a way to ship Kepler off.
  9. I have been mapping out the roster for the next three years and there is certainly going to be a logjam of talent. Now we just hope the players develop the way they hopefully will.
  10. Was that May of 2022 that he was absolutely on fire? Then got hurt shortly after. (story of the Twins)
  11. Really like this thought process. I would be onboard for sure. Not sure if this leadership would give the reigns to Gordon or not.
  12. If Kepler is traded who is the other started OF assuming that Gallo starts in one spot. Wallner, Larnach, Kiriloff? I personally think Kiriloff will start at 1B
  13. Lopez would be the most productive pitcher in 2023 should the Twins land him. Make this deal happen. Avisial Garcia is a RH outfield bat you could add onto this deal to fill another need.
  14. U.S. Bank would be a good location. I am guessing they enjoy inviting people into 'their' home. I also once read that they use TwinsFest as kind of a kickoff of the season. Some preliminary physicals and meetings take place that week/weekend. It is cool getting to see areas of Target Field you don't get to see on gameday.
  15. While I disagree, I can definitely see where your coming from! Maybe SD will make a trade that results in Cruz getting released and we have a need. Go Twins!
  16. I forgot to mention your second point, and I totally agree. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that he was one of the biggest jerks in the league BEFORE these accusations. Also, for some reason it seems like teams are less likely to deal with PR nightmares in the MLB compared to other leagues. Maybe just recency bias.
  17. Would have been an absolute disaster offseason had things not worked out the way they did with SF/NYM. That said, it would have been a terrible offseason if Buxton decided to retire with knee issues. Some things, are out of their hands.
  18. I am also intrigued by everyone acting like he is untouchable. We have many examples of teams in every major men's league with players with very serious crimes that they were convicted of! In the same calendar year that Desean Watson played football, I find it hard to believe that no team will see the value of adding the 2020 Cy Young Award winner while letting the Dodgers pay for it. I will take a swing and predict he signs with the Cubs.
  19. Nelson is 42 and had 10 HRs last year. If you expect him to rebound in his age 43 season, I was anticipate being disappointed.
  20. Buxton was the DH 34 times last year, only 4 less than Arraez. Whether they should or not, this leadership is going to put Buxton at DH a fair amount. 30-40 more times in 2023 and perhaps more. Cruz simply does not have a spot on this team, unless they would have attempted to sign him.
  21. I love Nick Gordon as much as the next guy, but this leadership clearly does not want to put him at SS. Especially for an extended period of time. This is why I think they would lean to keeping Farmer over Gordon. I think Kep is as good as gone, even if they end up trading him just for a ML arm. Arraez will get you the most value. I think he should be moved. A position-less, high average hitter is not as valuable as it looks watching on Ballys.
  22. I don't mind Bednar. But I think he'd be 3rd option behind Duran and Lopez. I also think Maeda would be the first to get bumped out of the starting 5. They seem to really like Ober. Depends on if they change their pitching philosophy with Wes gone.
  23. I think there's no issue having Correa, Lee, and Lewis all in the same lineup. Would you get rid of Lee before you looked to shop Polanco or Arraez? Players with versatility will be paramount with Correa's and Buxton's health. Having two guys who can slide from 3B/2B over to SS could be huge. Also, Lewis getting at-bats in LF & CF. I believe I've read that Lee doesn't project as an everyday SS but rather an above average 3B. I'd imagine he could play SS once or twice a week when Correa needs rest. Allowing you to maybe let Royce focus on the outfield.
  24. I am very curious on Lee. Can he make an impact by fall of 2023?
