  1. 9 pages on a utility player claimed on waivers is a sure sign of the offseason. This is the type of thing a good FO does, IMO. IF the pitching isn't coming along, you give them a nudge by shoring up the defense. Maybe Adrianza doesn't start, nearly ever, but if there is a groundballer on the mound late in the game? Why not? It's just one at bat a game, maybe, and everyone else in the org has played short at some point, so if you want to pinch hit for him later, you can do that too.
  2. Heck, Puerto Rico even has De Leon, so it has all the almost Twins as well
  3. I think Park was more exposed because there is a redundancy of players like him still on the market. Either he doesn't get claimed, or if he does. the resources can be reallocated, even for someone like Carter. Less to do with Santana, more to do with the market.
  4. Yeah, I saw that looking back on it. I don't have any problem with the signing either. I had just fallen out of touch with him. I had fallen victim to the Lattroy Hawkins syndrome that so many Twins fans had. He had been a bad starter and I hadn't bothered to see how he was as a reliever, and it turns out he was pretty good. The more arms the better, I say.
  5. I think it's good for me. I'm looking at him with fresh eyes, and not remembering him from the Rockies/Reds.
  6. Here is my scouting report on Matt Belisle I was pretty sure he had retired, like 3 years ago.
  7. IMO it's much more challenging to develop pitching. I think a key going forward is how willing the new FO will be to deal from strength to patch their weaknesses.
  8. IF you put any stock in it, Duffey has the highest WAR/100 innings projection of any Twins starter, according to FanGraphs. IF you put any stock in it
  9. One of the biggest problems with the team in the last few years is their inability to match their pitchers with their outfield. They haven't seemed to par their flyballers with the best defensve fielders, so mediocre pitching looks downright awful. Ricky Nolasco and Vance Worley weren't great, but they were also BABIPed to death
  10. You could build this list out of guys acquired from the Orioles. Jim Hoey can be next!
  11. To be fair, for some of these guys, it's not their fault that they are in the majors. No other team would let Tyler Duffey get abused like that all season.
  12. I am under the radar really excited to see how Mejia and Polanco do in 2017. If things go right, I think they could be fixtures. If there is an omission here, it's Byung-Ho Park, who also had his first MLB hit! If healthy, I think he showed me that he can be a capable bat in the middle of the lineup
