  1. That's what your hoping Luzardo or Cabrera develop and become. It is very hard to find an "ace" that a team is just willing to trade. There aren't a lot of true #1 Ace pitchers out there and the ones that are more than likely aren't just being dangled to trade. You have to find a young SP who has the #1 upside that those 2 probably do and acquire them early before they are that ace.
  2. I keep seeing people say they'll have to blow it up and start over.... Blow what up? This team is young and full of youth as it is. I would say they are already in a the middle of a rebuild. Your SP with the most wins last year was a rookie, one of their best and most clutch hitters was a rookie. Lanach is 25, Kiriloff is 25, Miranda is 24, Lewis is 23, Arraez is 25. Your Veteran star is 29 and signed long term. This isn't a team built for this year as a make or break season. It's a young team!!
  3. Bring in Eovaldi to complete a nice rotation of solid #2's and 3's. Don't have a true Ace but have guys that are sold rotation guys. Mahle, Eovaldi, Gray, Maeda and Ryan is a solid rotation. Sign Wil Meyers to be your platoon RH hitting OF on a 1 year prove it type deal. If Larnach, Kirilloff and Buxton all stay healthy he is rarely used. If one goes down you have a RH hitting option to playa corner OF spot. Sign Elvis Andrus to play SS for this year until Lewis is ready to take the reins. Keeps solid SS play and doesn't force Lewis to rush back and can come back when he's ready and at full strength. Kimbrell, Britton or even Fulmer to add another veteran reliable bullpen arm to have good depth and options to close the doors in innings 7,8,9 consistently. Rotation: Mahle, Eovaldi, Gray, Maeda, Ryan C- Vazquez/ 1B- Arraez/ 2b- Polonco/ SS- Andrus/ 3B- Miranda/ OF-Buxton, Larnach, Kirilloff/ DH- Gallo/ Bench- Gordon, Meyers, Farmer, Jeffers If the young guys progress and take the step they have been said to be able to take and be the players there supposed to be that team can be a playoff team.
  4. a 2 time all star, 2 time gold glove winner who hits between 20-40 hrs a year for the last 5 years(non covid) seems like a proven commodity to me....But ya he's no Celestino..................
  5. IMO the Twins are already in the midst of a rebuild and were last year too. Your SP with the most wins was a rookie, your closer was a rookie, your leader in HR was a rookie. That sounds like a young team rebuilding. Until they young guys show they can stay healthy and be productive no sense mortgaging the future. Maybe this is the year they prove that but it's not like this team is build around aging veterans.
  6. Kepler issue isn't with the shift. It's launch angles and soft contact. Lazy fly balls to the OF and ground balls to 2B
  7. They have proven they can't! They can't stay healthy so they can't be relied upon to help win games this year. Gallo is proven and most importantly available. Larnach hasn't' been for 2 years, Kirilloff hasn't been for 2 years. All our young guys have proven to date is they can't stay healthy and cant be counted on for a full year.
  8. The young guys have upside and potential and until they reach that the Twins will just be spinning their wheels. Gallo is the 2nd best OF on the 40 man today IMO because the others have only proven they can't stay healthy. They brought in a proven commodity that can help win games now. Hopefully a couple of the young guys can prove they can be healthy, productive, big leaguers and Gallo is a luxory they can flip or let walk after the year. Until that's proven however its a good signing to help win games in '23.
  9. Being better today than they were yesterday isn't a good thing for you? Than yes I guess can't compete with that!
  10. My only answer to your post is that Gallo has MUCH more upside with his bat than Kepler and yes he will SO but will walk a lot but also has much more power than Kepler. I don't think it's even really that close when comparing the bats? Not sure what you think Kepler does that makes him a better hitter? Assuming you mean he SO less? But we could then just say Gallo grounds out to second less so between the 2 I'll take the one who hit's HR's every 16-20 AB's and take my chances.
  11. For adding a good defensive glove to your OF and a bat that has historically hit well at TF and has upside to him 30+ HR's. Not every signing is going to be a franchise guy. They are banking on their young guys to be those guys....they haven't proven they can yet so until they do you bring in a veteran that can help the team win games. I believe that's the goal, right?
  12. Signing a gold glove corner OF with a big power bat is a useless signing? Is it a franchise changing signing? No....is it useless? No He is the 2nd best OF on our 40man right now. If the young guys can somehow stay healthy and live up to expectations than Gallo becomes expendable at the deadline or let him walk next year. But the young guys have not shown they can do that...if anything they've proven they can't. So go get a good defensive OF with upside to be a big bat too. 1 year removed from being a 5 WAR player.
  13. He signs today and he's our 2nd best OF on the 40 man up to the minute.
  14. We can all be angry about some of their moves but if you don't think they've thought about how a shift could possible effect one of their MLB level OF's I think your probably being a little dramatic. The value he carries is going to be from his defense and a very small amount of upside at the plate from a few extra ground balls "bleeding through"
  15. I'm not saying he's a franchise changing signing. All I'm saying is he's our 2nd best OF right now and our team is better today than it was yesterday.
