  1. Crappy ending. I remain optimistic; SP should be good, Falvine can assemble a good bullpen and there are pieces in the minors who are finally ready to contribute.
  2. Gonna be a crazy year. Free agents are going to be cheap and on shorter contracts.
  3. A few ifs here, but if Cave hits, would it make sense to platoon him and Buxton? Not so much for hitting, but to lessen the chances of Buxton getting injured.
  4. Bauer isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he implies that Pressly's jump in spin rate with the Astros could only be explained by the "application of a foreign substance." Be interesting to see if their bullpen performs differently this year assuming that they aren't cheating as much.
  5. 'Cause I couldn't find another place to post this, but Robbie "bleeping" Grossman was runner up for a Gold Glove.
  6. Labrum repairs are not trivial...I hope the team gets a bit of clarity on his availability for next season.
  7. I tallied 146 hits in 14 games - I guess homers are better than singles, but they have had a great approach against our pitchers. The just grind through AB's against us - and only us.
  8. I know he's not stupid, and he still has tremendous potential, but how many AB's does Sano need to figure out he is not going to see one single fastball over the plate with guys on base. On this team where the next guy is just as likely to hit a home run. Rant over.
  9. By my count the Angels had 55 baserunners in three games and only 15 runs. That we won two of three has to be a source of some frustration to Angels fans.
  10. I think the owners and commissioner will make concessions only if the game becomes more entertaining. They have accumulated so much leverage through metrics and exploiting the controlled period of a player's career. The result is that the players are younger and contracts are shorter. This, in turn, has led to fewer balls in play and imo, a less enjoyable product. I think the players will need a work stoppage of some length but it's difficult to imagine much concession unless the owners are convinced the sport is in trouble.
  11. Last of the old guard, watching the end of his career. I sympathize somewhat, because he's watched a lot of his co-workers lose jobs. But that level of vitriol says more about him than it does about TD. If it's any consolation, the only way I know about his articles is if I see the link on this site.
  12. That's a great article Seth. You tied a good amount of Twins history together and carried it into the present.
  13. 22/25 April games in the Midwest? I know there are some open days, but I would guess a handful of rainouts.
  14. Could we simply forfeit these last few games? Just take home the mitts and bats, hire the new guy, and start it up again in February? This is worse than watching Sam Deduno and Jamie Carroll...
  15. Molitor deserves a bonus for maintaining somewhat of a straight face during this scheisse show.
  16. Four prep guys. Help from the first two rounds will likely have to wait until 2022.
  17. Gordon may be tailing off a bit simply because of the huge number of premier shortstops on the list. Lots of time before it matters.
  18. Just finished reading it. Best one yet - great job gentlemen. Especially liked the organization of the player profiles, the Killebrew write-ups and "The Chase" chapter. As fans, we're lucky to have you.
  19. We are lucky to have Seth as a Twins Daily prospect guru. To understand the Twins, you must understand the minor league depth chart - it informs everything they do. I look forward to buying and digesting this year's handbook.
  20. Great article. Feels like a good number; I think that last paragraph is important. Will he end up more Miggy or Pablo (though Pablo got paid as well).
  21. Relievers were the Moneyball surprise this year. This gets magnified by free agency, where the winner overpays. It disappoints me little that Ryan chose not to sign anyone. If the Twins are in it come July, relievers will be much cheaper. And the controlled arms in the farm system will sort themselves out. This is at most a win over the course of a season.
