  1. With regards to Meyer and his chances of cracking the rotation, it's not that I am saying he will be first in line for an opening. Not at all. But the pecking order isn't always cut and dried; hot streaks, veteranism, timing; lots of different factors can impact who gets a shot. But let me put it a different way. Between May and Meyer, which has the greater chance of getting a start this year?
  2. I read it from Jeremy Nygaard, earlier in this thread. He said Molitor said it in MLB Network.
  3. Two things: 1)Alex Meyer is going to start at Rochester? That seems like huge news to me. If he does well there, he could get called up pretty easily. (Before Berrios, ostensibly.) That certainly didn't appear to be where his career was trending. 2)Molitor saying "we didn't expect to win the Park bidding" is quite the quote. I've often said that the Twins MO is "aim for mediocrity." In this case, they put in a bid expecting not to win it. Now, because they lucked out and actually won his rights...they are adjusting by moving Sano to OF. Of the options of DH, 1B, 3B or OF, they picked the one position that the position for him that will most likely result in an average to below average result.
  4. From the article, quoting Terry Ryan: "I don't know why he can't be a starter in the major leagues." I do. The Twins aren't letting him. That quote makes it seem as though it isn't a specific decision they are making, that they have no recourse in the matter. May appears to me to be one of the five best starting options on the team and was last year as well. This decision, both last year and this year, has hurt the team's overall ability to win games. So it is disappointing, although, as many have said, not at all surprising. Aim for mediocrity, and you might succeed.
  5. If the Twins are involved in a trade with the Rangers, and Profar is in the trade, I hope the Twins wind up with him.
  6. Wow, this is great. Makes me really happy for him to end on good terms. Good season, got to be a part of a last pennant race, had fun, and now clears the way for the kids (or Der Kid?) Was not expecting this, but pleasantly surprised.
  7. Twins are going to need to rally here if they want to win this game.
  8. What if...the Twins had managed to win one of the 12-inning losses on their homestand?
  9. Why was Pelfret not out in the sixth? He had logged enough for the win, and he was hungry so he went for a nice MLT, mutton, lettuce and tomato...when the tomato is nice and ripe, delicious. Anyway, back to the issue at hand, the Twins' chances are now only mostly dead. Not yet time to go through their pockets looking for loose change...but it might take a miracle. That game was jinxed by the Boy Who Hit 1.000. Rajai Davis won the game with his two marathon ABs.
  10. I always liked that Rosario out homered Sano in Elizabethton. I think Bruno should tell Rosario that he can't swing until he sees a strike.
  11. Plouffe whines way too much about balls and strikes. That's the first at bat that I've seen Sano look anxious. Which is remarkable for a rookie.
  12. That game last night was just "one of those games." Twins hit a bunch of balls really hard in the first 2-3 innings, and they were all at people. Dozier's double down the line in the first - how is that caught (by anyone other than Alex Gordon)? Tigers, on the other hand, hit at least a few seeing eye base hits. Would be good to check the hit speeds of Sano's GIDB and Victor Martinez's single. If you reverse the outcomes of those two plays, the Twins would likely have been ahead in the game.
