  1. Lewis learned a lesson there, for sure. Man, I wish there would have been runners at the corners with nobody out.
  2. VERY similar results for both teams through 5 innings. 19 batters, two hits 7 k's, an two walks, no runs, for BOTH teams.
  3. Gray is impressive. 7 k's in 4 innings. But he's losing the pitch-count battle though 4. I think he's going to be done. Gray 14; 15; 16; 21 = 66 Kapriellen: 23; 11; 12; 13 = 59
  4. Lord Mountcastle hath slain our heroic Archer and young Duran. Alas, we are undone. Once more to the breach, my friends, once more?
  5. Thielbar gives up a home run. By the end of the inning, his ERA drops from 10.13 to 10.
  6. I agree that a Royce Lewis promotion would on come with bad news-a Carlos Correa injury. Please, baseball gods, keep them both healthy and playing shortstop every day. Not a prospect, but my guess is that Devin Smeltzer will get called up. He'd have to be added to the 40 man roster, but I'm rooting for him.
  7. Great quote from the Detroit Free Press: "Never had a good grip," (Tiger's catcher) Haase said. "Frickin' grabbed a big ol' mud ball and just sailed it. Base running mishap by them. I was going to run the guy back, tag both. There would be no one at home, so I just tried to pitch it. I just sailed it." https://www.freep.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2022/04/26/detroit-tigers-game-recap-minnesota-twins-javier-baez/9547063002/
  8. In the 2000's fans enjoyed the Mauer-Morneu bromance. Why not a Correa-Buxton bromance for the remainder of the 2020's?
  9. He's "the best player in the world" until he isn't. Will this be true for two weeks? Two months? Two years? I absolutely love watching everything he does. For so many reasons, I wish him the best, most of all because of the quote below. Every Minnesotan should be cheering for this young man: "This is our home. For my kids, they’re a part of Minnesota. We can put our boys through school and not really have to worry about it. I love the city. I love the fans. I love the organization. They were the first ones that gave me a chance to become who I am today. So for me, there’s a lot of loyalty to this. That’s how I was raised.”
  10. Wild card, baby! How much does the recent collective bargaining agreement, and expansion to 6 American League playoff teams shape recent front office decisions? No one will mistake the 2022 Twins roster with 2019's Bomba Squad, and their 101 regular season wins. But 85 to 88 wins will likely lead to a wild card spot. Add Pineda and Cueto, If they go 15-10 and 14-12, along with similar numbers from Gray, and a wild card is well within reach.
  11. I saw Chase Petty pitch in a scrimmage at Hammond Stadium on Thursday. He was impressive, especially his secondary stuff. Petty is known for his big 100mph fastball, but he was striking out guys (Severino & Tatum) and drawing weak contact on sliders andchange-ups. I was looking forward to watching him blossom into a top-of-the-rotation starter. This one could haunt.
  12. Falvey and Lavine were walking across the Hammond Stadium lot yesterday as my son and I were going to watch an intrasquad scrimmage. I asked, "Are we going to get a deal?" Falvey replied, "We hope so. A lot of progress has been made in the last few hours. Keep your fingers crossed." Sure enough, halfway through the scrimmage our phones blew up with news of the agreement. One other note from our sidewalk conversation: after the fingers-crossed comment, I said, "I hope you are right, guys. And I hope you can sign some pitchers!"
  13. He signed a ball for one of my boys (who are in college now) as our family sat along the third base line. I have a big voice, so as he ran out of the dugout to the outfield I bellered, "Go get 'em, Sammy!" The guy half turned as he ran, flashed an appreciative grin, and then went to field his position. It was one of those delightful moments when the wall between players and fans melts away, if only briefly.
  14. This front office has made more deposits in my Bank of Trust than withdrawals. I'm finally of the ripe 'ol age to be a season ticket holder, and will be next year too. But if management and labor can't arrive at a new CBA (collective bargaining agreement) and there's another work stoppage, the bank defaults, and I'll bring my sign out of the closet, "Don't Feed the Greed." You've got me for one more year, Derek & Mike.
  15. Willins was fun to watch again tonight! A fan favorite in Des Moines, too! I couldn't agree more about Charlie Barnes If he can't make it as a starter, how about as a two-pitch lefty out of the bullpen? He was good again last night.
