  1. Maybe that is similar to what Cleveland thought. Cron is staying. He and Rocco go way back. Plus he is better than we thought and some of us were high on him right after the deal. I think we extend Rosie and Buck and Cron and try to get Berrios for 5. Extend Odo. Sano too.
  2. I think the fastest man in the game, and our best base stealer, should bat lead off
  3. I think that was just a comment on his getting fewer at bate at the 9 hole that leadoff. I'd like to see Buck bat first and steal second base. His doubles would put him in scoring position for the second batter in the game... like that thought
  4. So add me to the list of the ridiculous. Cody wrote a good piece. And nostalgia ain't what it used to be. We don't live in the past... I loved watching Rod Carew. Sure, Rod did it for longer. Amazing hitter. But that is no reason not to note that Jorge is on the climb and showing that he is reaching that level of play. Hope he can keep it up over a long career.
  5. Rod Carew was always one of my favorite players of all time. And it doesn't bother me in the least that Jorge is compared to him. Carew's swing was more for contact and Jorge tries to go yard much more, so I expect him to hit under .300 by season's end. But with 20 + homers. There is a reason the Twins wanted to lock up Jorge for an extension. He is a young and very talented player on the come. I wish they's extend Eddie and Buck too. It would be nice to have that OF intact for five years. BTW, did anyone notice that they clocked Buck's throw to the plate last night at 98 MPH?
  6. Day game after a double header (same for Detroit, I know) so i don't put too much stock in one loss. They were so close to pulling it out. We'll be fine Hildy, on the other hand......
  7. There is no BEST. Its always a matter of opinion --- Montana, or Marino, Brees or Brady -- and bias creeps in. For me, he is damn good, and will get better. That's worth something.
  8. I dunno what the right call was. Major league pitchers should be able to get an out. When I coached my players bailed me out a few times when I made a wrong call. It didn't happen here. Odo had it going well, then he lost it. That is a repeated theme. Still, a 1 hitter through 4 innings should inspire some faith. I don't have a problem with the call for Vasquez. It didn't work out. Too bad we had to wait so long for the next game. Too much time with a bad taste in our mouth. And as fun as the laugher was to watch, this was wayyyy painful. But we play 162 games. Time to turn the page and forgive a little. Coach and Odo and Vasquez were all trying to win. Hope they do better next time.
  9. no mention of Jake Reed. Why can't this guy get any love? He had the best year of all Twins relievers and didn't get a September call up, now this.
  10. I am not irritated. That is my point. I think the FO knows a LOT more than the posters here do about what they have and what direction they want to go.
  11. I don't criticize the FO. The Twins haven't played a single game that means anything. Those who jump to conclusions end up with egg on face. People were criticizing the Perez deal. He show up throwing 97 MPH. Don't hear much criticism now. People desperately wanted Gonzalez. Now we have an article basically pointing out that he has been off this spring. Again, read my second sentence. Lighten up Francis. For those of you not named Francis, relax you guys.
  12. This lineup could all hit 20 HRs top to bottom. When have we ever had that? Buck should bat leadoff. He is hitting like .438 this spring with power. I get the conventional wisdom that Keps is a more patient hitter, so guys will see more pitches, but really, he is not a base stealer. Buck has stolen his last 29 bases without getting caught, or something ridiculous like that. So while I wouldn't call Buck a patient hitter, isn't being able to steal safely to get into scoring position even more important?.
  13. Well Dozier was a homer guy who hit more homers in a year than anyone but the Killer. In fact, only Doze and Harm ever hit more than 40 HRs in a year. Mauer led all of baseball in BA with RISP in his mid 30s. Why wouldn't Molly have put them in prime positions? Its not like we had better guys on the bench.
  14. I'm not sure about his trade value right now. MLB is a "what have you done for me lately" kind of league. He flamed out last year and was horrible after a hot start. This spring he has had 1 decent inning and been lit up badly. I wanna believe he can right his ship, and ok, its still only ST. I hope he shakes off whatever is bothering him. At some point you just gotta turn the page.
  15. All these moves made sense. Wade is close, but he was never going North with the team. The move shows that they see Gonsalves as a starter, rather than a candidate to compete for innings out of the BP. Get him primed to start games at AAA. Twins need to DFA Duffy and decide what to do with Jake Reed, who I think is good enough and ready to stick right now. The Twins bet on the wrong Reed if you ask me. Maybe Jake will get a chance to be the closer down in AAA. I think we will see some final looks this week.
  16. That's BS. And there is a big difference between players playing hurt in a pennant race and abusing a player, knowing it will jeopardize their careers. The Twins have always been on the careful side in my opinion. And if you think the Twins abuse players then why in the world would you want to be a Twins writer? And just how did the Twins cause Miggie to hurt his leg by being hit by a pitch? And just how did the Twins subject Frankie to injury? Injuries happen and Frankie had a violent throwing motion to begin with. This was an unfair comment. And untrue.
  17. Yes it is. In fact, you have no proof of this. None. Go ahead, double down. But it was a crappy thing to say. Irresponsible.
