  1. The reality of the situation might be that Arcia being an effective hitter wasn't going to happen here. To me that's more telling of an organizational problem than the idea the Twins didn't fail at getting the best out of Arcia.
  2. Baltimore or Toronto seem like ideal spots. They have home run hitting lineups with home run hitting philosophies and Arcia can be used to the best of his talents. Say 25-30 home run potential hitting 6th in the lineup.
  3. My personal preference when playing the what if game is keeping the distance to about ten picks after the Twins real selection.
  4. I wouldn't put it past the Twins not trade Nunez at peak value because of the All-Star game.
  5. The FSL is very pitching friendly so are there any indications this is more than competing in a pitchers league?
  6. That would mean Bert cares that the team stinks. He hasn't since he went into the Hall of Fame.
  7. Skid Row is a very underrated band. Got the undeserved hair metal label but much closer to Guns n Roses. They also had the misfortune of hitting it big right before grunge and having crazy lead singer.
  8. I think Mauer is in a really tough spot. His peak was deserving without question but it was 10 years and he's probably going to play for another 8 to 10 years. If the old Joe is back even a little than that helps but playing 1B and DH the counting numbers probably need to be better.
  9. Maybe he ends up okay but what was the point of bringing in Park?
  10. I generally don't like how the strikeout is being dismissed for batters but rightfully so what most teams want from their pitching staffs.
  11. It worries me in part because the lineup doesn't have enough guys who can get on-base to even out the high strikeout totals.
  12. I get it's only two innings into the season but I hate all the strikeouts. We're not talking about a team that scores a high number of runs. There's certainly potential but it's mostly unproven. Strikeouts to me are like alcohol or deserts everything in moderation.
  13. Unpopular opinion but I thought John Gordon the broadcaster was awful. Like only in Minnesota could he have a job for nearly 25 years bad.
  14. I'm certainly not expecting a repeat of next season. I have the win total around 78 or 79 this year. If the young players make real progress including the bullpen that my not be the worst thing for the future.
  15. Similar record to last season Depending on how things play out maybe contending for that second wildcard spot going into the last week of the season.
  16. I think it's pretty obvious that the Twins are putting together a 'just good enough' bullpen with the power-arms in the minors eventually being the foundation of a good bullpen. The concern is all but one of those guys performed at or above expectations last year so putting all your cards in unproven talent is a risky move.
  17. I think the window is closing for Gardenhire. Unless he's hired mid=season that would make two full years out of baseball. Not improbable to come back but out of sight out of mind.
  18. It certainly looks likes Berrios has the feel of someone who can help the Twins.
  19. I don't even hate the trade itself but more the idea of making such a meaningless trade. I'd rather the Twins wait until the off-season than semi-act like there still in contention. Even if it's b.s. just say the asking price was too high. Any player who maybe could kept the team in the wildcard spot that's probably true.
