    Surprising this hasn't resolved itself yet. I'm surprised the Mets haven't worked it out by now, if they could. I imagine there is another deal being worked on, and they are making sure all the physical/medical is done prior to announcing anything else.

    There will be no further discount. That's what Boras/Correa are communicating. They may add certain provisions, contigencies, opt-outs, but they want the original terms to be largely honored. If the Twins sign him, it will be for the contract they offered. 285/10.

    This sounds right to me. The team may be willing to take the risk, so long as they can insure against that risk, but if the insurance company says no thanks, it will definitely push the team to reconsider...

    My read is that this reaching the media is significant. Why damage the incoming star with this report/leak if it could be simply overcome? You can boo-hoo delaying a press conference/announcement for all kinds of reasons other than this. SF may be laying the ground work to pull out.

    He's a good player, but not at the price they'd have to pay in arbitration. I suspected him to be non-tendered honestly, so this is a much better outcome. The strikeout numbers on the prospect are pretty tantalizing even if a small sample size.

    Fangraphs ranks prospects traded at the deadline According to fangraphs.com, the Twins gave up the 8th, 25th, 26th, 37th, 57th, and 66th best prospects of those traded at the deadline. It really seems like the Twins did well in limiting what kind of assets they gave up vis-à-vis what other teams gave up.
