This puts celestino and wallner in AAA for 2023. TL is a DH guy only… every 4th day. AK is 1st/DH. Buxton will DH 62 games play CF 99 games if he doesn’t get injured. We now have redundant elite defense everywhere but 3rd base…. Until Lewis takes over. Farmer sits alot and Miranda will DH alot after June.
Pretty clear message to the young guys. We are bringing in MLB players and you all are going to get a year to develop in AAA. OF will be Buck, Kep, Gordon, Gallo, Taylor. This wont change until there is a significant injury.
I can see Raya, Preilipp and SWR as 3 SP in 2025 maybe mid 2024 along with Paddack, Lopez and Ryan. How Lee fell to us at #8 is crazy. This top 15 has to be well above MiLB average.
I think its gonna be a regular rotation in and out of the DH based on the days’ opposing pitcher. There is also going to be a regular rotation both in the infield and OF on the daily. I expect Lewis to hold down a spot in the2-3 slot and buxton to slide to cleanup. AK at 5. Its going to get real interesting if Julien and Martin come into Spring Training and tear it up followed their AFL showing. Garlick will be a lifer with the saints or traded for some obscure prospect. We don’t need to go backwards. Wallner will most likely be a Saint until he learns to his OBP. Celestino also has growth to accomplish as a Saint.
Polanco (S)
Correa (R)
Lewis (R)
Buxton (R)
AK (L)
Miranda (R)
Gallo (L)
Either Catcher
Insert rotation player here(L/R)
then…. Shuffle the deck of player cards for tomorrows game.
Miranda is likely getting most of 3rd base but also some 1st. AK should be getting most of 1st but also OF and DH. Lewis will most likely be a super utility guy until he settles into a position unless he just takes Arraez’s role (minus 1st base) and carries at .300ba+ Julien also could be that guy. We need to stop bringing in FA guys and let the youngsters get playing time.
There was talk about Profar wanting a long term deal last year and I would think that he is still trying to find one. I’m surprised Boston hasn’t signed him yet. Last year would have been the time to throw some money at him like a 3 yr deal with a 4th and 5th team option. At this point, its just going to create a log jamb in the outfield. We have the on field leadership in place right now to mentor the kids. We need to push Martin to MLB along with Julien in 2023. TL, AK and Mr. ACL tear need to stay healthy and find their way to a 4fWAR. That log jamb will solve all the lineup issues.
There is no way to get an Ace SP for arraez. The top 20 SP in MLB aren’t even for sale. Im not a Lopez fan but you put a great defense behind him….And score 4 runs for him every start, he and everyone of our starters could be 16-20 game winners.
As much as I’d like to see Duran start and win 12+ games, I’d rather see his durability improve to where he can save 30 games and still do it on a days rest which means the team scoring more runs so there are more low leverage days he doesn’t have to pitch.
Trout is an absolute no. He is close to HOF retired. Ohtani is likely traded to the Padres at the deadline this year and will cost $400M in FA. Alcantarra asking price would probably include either buxton or correa so that wont happen.
I want to see Lopez get an additional 3 year extension. Since the FO traded away our favorite guy, we might as well get to grieve for 5 years instead of 2.
We need Lewis and Lee more than any #1 ace they would bring in a trade right now or down the road. (Lee alone wont bring a #1 ace in a trade) the twins have other assets to trade to get great pitching but we are good for now. What the twins really need to do is develop an Ace in their own system. CP and MR are the two best chances but we need to draft better/more pitching prospects going forward.
Did anyone here watch Lewis in his recent MLB network interview? He is basically untouchable in any trade talk. He is already back to playing baseball and ramping up for spring training. He will most likely be on the 26 man roster and retire a long time from now as a lifelong Twin. The only thing bigger than his talent is his personality and humility.
Id rather trade Gordon, kepler, TL, Pagan, Celestino and keep everyone else. Something in that should be enough to get 1 or 2 of Miami’s extra pitchers. Keep all the best athletes and find a place for them.
