  1. Maybe I am showing my ignorance on how WPA is calculated. But, Miranda hit the walk-off home run, and is not in the top3? If somebody can explain, thank you!
  2. Average wise could be. Bu he seems a little better defensively than Sano. Don't you think?
  3. Talking about that, what was Tony Larussa doing making himself ejected when his pitchers were getting 3 extra inches on both sides of the plate. Was it a kind of "Hey, I am still relevant here?"
  4. Yes, Buxton had the walk out HR, great. But the one that broke the pitcher's back was Arraez. What a tough out he is! The guy was throwing really good pitches to him, and in the end, he was on base.
  5. And don't forget that Suran throws 102 and has very good secondary ptches, but he is a rookie.
  6. Common Smeltzer. One more out and our bullpen takes over!?
  7. I think these losses are going to cost a lot. and they might define the season. I remember in 2019 it was the reverse. We were neck and neck with Cleveland, and we went there, sweep them in Cleveland, and never look back. Here we were ahead, and now drop 2 winnable games, and they are ahead with all the momentum. It will depend on how our club responds next week in Cleveland, although with the state of our bullpen (Duran, mind you, he is a rookie, and who else?) I don't have a lot of confidence.
  8. One thing nobody commented, is that our defense was terrible last night. A pitcher like Smeltzer can't survive that. Clutch hitting comes and goes, But the defense is something that they have to clean up.
  9. I am cautiously hopeful. During this rough patch of our schedule, with all thehealth issues, especially in the pitching side, we are still ahead by 2 games. And also considering that it was a relatively easy part of Cleveland schedule. Now the schedule for them gets harder and we are starting to get back to health. More crucially, we are getting a lot of games against them. If they cannot beat us head to head, then we can breath more easily. Now, if they win sreies against us, then we are in trouble.
  10. What surprised me is that Rocco left Ryan there that long. It was obvious that velocity was going down, and it is known that the last thing to come after Covid is the stamina. Rocco usually is blamed for removing his starters too quickly. Not this time
  11. If you don't count the Rays batting part of the game, yes
  12. It looks like the place to be tonight is Left field, second deck. Souvenir guaranteed.
  13. Right now, the Twins are putting on the field something close to a AAA team, and it is showing. Injuries and COVID are taking its toll. I hope its get better, but also the schedule is getting tougher.
  14. I was watching the game today, and all of a sudden everything got a 2021 taste. Unreliable pitching, defensive blunders and COVID related issues. I hope it changes soon.
  15. "MLB is clear on this point: If there isn’t a deal by Monday, games will be cancelled and will not be made up. The season will be less than 162 games and players will not be paid for a full season, no matter what". I don't know about this. If the games are not played because the owners don't allow the players to play, I think a good lawyer could argue that since it is not their fault, they still should be paid. But I am not a good lawyer, so there goes my argument.
  16. True, but since the owners declared the lockout (not the players), shouldn't be reasonable to expect that they iniciatethe proposals again?
  17. One thing that could be done is if your team looses an average of, let's say, more than 90 games in 5 years, it is out of MLB, and some other team is created. A relegation system of sorts. For those not aware of it, when there is relegation there is as much drama at the bottom of the standing as there is at the top.
  18. I would put more emphasis in his injuries if they were something chronic, like Donaldson calves. But in case of Buxton they were more freak things than anything else. So, nobody knows the future, but, to put an example, the possibility of him breaking his toe again is not greater than any other player. Sure, probably injury history can be used in negotiations, but up to a point.
  19. What happenned with Kepler. I think I heard in the broadcast that his departure was COVID related. Was it so? I hope he is OK and didn't spread to others.
  20. Thank you. I was not saying that throwing sliders hurt your fingers, I was more on your line, that sometimes adding a pitch that you are not used to, even if the pitch is efective, can lead to strains because you haven't mastered it yet.
  21. Given the horrible, really bad 2021 that he had, anything could be an improvement for Dobnak. So, I say him. Related to that. In spring training, they say he had come up with a new slider that was really good. Soon after he went down with the injury to his finger and never really recover. A question for those who know about pitchin. Could it be that the slider was really good at the beginning, but it was putting additional strain on his finger, and after a while the finger got hurt with the consequences that we've seen?
  22. I wouldn't worry too much about the ACL injury by itself. Soccer players come back from ACL all the time, in a sport that twisting on the knees is essential, and with plenty of contact in the area. Sure, he probably will be rusty at the beggining, and probably will not play his best SS intially. But I would bet that he can come back from this.
  23. Because the game at that point was already 11-4 and you want Buxton to finish the year healthy under all circumstances.
