  1. He hasn't thrown his split this frequently since 2010, in fact currently it's almost exactly the same % as that season. I'm not sure the velocity is all that different than before, back then it was a very effective change for him. One wonders how much his elbow troubles may have come from it and now that he is healthy we're seeing him use it like he used to. I wonder if the lack of rotation on it is a byproduct of his elbow problems, causing him to adopt a different grip and release.
  2. I was really impressed with the movement on his fastball last night, I couldn't believe I was watching the same guy. Pelf seems like a good egg, I've given him a lot of guff but I'm pretty happy for him........or maybe I'm just happy. Either way, watching him pitch this year hasn't at all resembled the torture test it's been in the past.
  3. I'm willing to bet he does before we see him up. If Ryan is posturing that way I'm inclined there is something afoot to allow that to happen. If he gets promoted to AAA sometime in June I think he'll go to play the outfield.
  4. Also a good spot to take a bat to the head! In two games I attended last year a guy's bat ended up over the Twins dugout and nearly decapitated someone. I think it was against the Astros where it was a broken one, the damn thing helicoptered it's way over the entire first section before ending up on the walkway. The guy in the last row who's head it flew over was busy talking to his buddy while everyone else stared in horror waiting for it to impale him!
  5. Not many, if any did. If I recall correctly, at the beginning of last year the general consensus was it would be great if he flashed that June 2013 power for a bit and played halfway competent 3rd base long enough to up his trade value to " hopefully something".
  6. I'm enjoying it for the time being, I mean what's not to enjoy? I'm not expecting it to last however and if, or more accurately when the cracks begin to show, I hope the Twins don't wait too long for them to widen.
  7. Or it could just be applied to being a joke, not everything is that complicated.
  8. Common sense and not being legally blind would tell you that you're wrong.
  9. Another stellar game by Plouffe, at the dish and in the field tonight. Stock keeps rising.
  10. Liriano and Marquis are the only two pitchers from the 2012 rotation still starting in the Majors, that's kinda depressing, no? I know hindsight is 20/20, and I also know Liriano was a tire fire the year he was traded, but it still baffles me that they traded pretty much the only legitimate pitcher they had that year, and definitely the only one who had legitimate major league stuff. Frankie would look pretty good in this rotation right about now. Oh well, they got a SS who plays LF and can hit a bit out of the deal, all was not lost.......
  11. May needs to work through his issues with the big club, just like Gibson did. He's shown stretches of being very good but as someone else mentioned needs to learn to be a little more economical and how to work through the 3rd time through the order. I don't get how working on that in AAA is going to be helpful, swap one guy dominating in AAA for another guy who is just going to do the same? Then what? Send Pelf to the pen, I've had enough of him in this rotation. Milone can take his spot until Santana is ready and they can go from there. Not sure I advocate trading him yet, he does provide the depth this team has lacked for years now.
