  1. It would probably be only until those two are back.
  2. I'm thinking a B to B+. They didn't give up too much for the MUCH needed pitching help. I wish they could have pulled in one more capable starting pitcher. It would have been an A++ from me then.
  3. I am not so sure. I think Correa fell into their laps. I feel like Boras came to them, not the other way around. After it was presented, then they had to have the mass sell off to fit Correa and still be under budget. Like the article stated, we are under budget, we should add a couple higher salary relievers non contenders may just want off their books. It's starting to look like that will be our only option. Here's hoping it's not.
  4. That's what I was thinking. After reading about the trade pieces it didn't sound like it would've been hard coming up with a better trade than that. It's too bad we couldn't get that done.
  5. I think your post is correct. I can't see the front office getting rid of the talent they have been accumulating. They want long term success. I thought at the beginning of the year, we needed another solid year of development, and we'd have another round of talent ready for MLB. I think this winter will be the time they add the couple pieces they need after deciding which minors leaguers are going to step up. Even if they don't add, hopefully we can pitch better, hit a bit better, and make a playoff push.
  6. If all the stories about Connor are true, he may be #3 as our best pitching prospect in the minors.
  7. I'd send Garlick down. I think having Celestino up makes to much sense with Buxton needing rest and off days.
  8. I guess whoever this WPA is they've not seen how many times the Twins have had 2 or 3 runners on with no outs.... And have not scored a run.
  9. I've wondered since my playing days as well. I got on base because of speed and errors and always felt short changed it didn't at least count towards obp. You're getting on base!
  10. It's hard to have disgust for the players. They are all exceeding expectations. It's been an amazing season that not many saw coming. I think the disgust falls on some of Rocco's moves or lack of moves during games and the F.O. not making moves to make this team even better. It's easy to look back after the game and rail on Rocco. I'd guess there aren't many teams selling right now. Hopefully the Twins make some moves in the next 2 weeks.
  11. The offense hasn't been the issue this year. Many to most losses are falling squarely on the bullpen. It doesn't take an experienced baseball mind to see what the number 1 issue the Twins have.
  12. We are probably around 7 or 8th in the league in ERA. If you are telling me you would want to go into a postseason series with our pitching staff against any of the 6 teams in front of us...You are nuts I am happy that we have a decent ERA and 4 to 5 guys that can give us 5 innings without imploding, but I don't think that is going to continue. I just don't see Sonny Gray starting game 1 of the playoffs being favored to win against any teams #1. That is getting ahead of ourselves. After the Cleveland series we may not need to worry about who is starting game 1 in the playoffs.
  13. You can throw out our amazing numbers and good ERA. The fact is, a starting rotation with Smeltzer, Archer, and Bundy will NOT get it done in the post season. There really isn't any debating that. Starters going 5 is not a problem. If that is the organizational philosophy then you need a bullpen that will support that. We don't have that. Like I said earlier, we are a year away with our minor league pitching depth. I think we will add a few prospects to the rotation and probably/hopefully add a couple too the bullpen that can go to 2 or 3 innings. That seems to be what we are missing. This roster as constructed may claw their way into them playoffs... But we'll probably be adding to our 18 losses in a row.
  14. Sadly, I think that is what we will all be whining about in 3 years. I think the F.O. did a good job building up the minors pitching depth. Even if we have some injuries, we should be able to pull up talent and compete.
  15. That's the 35 Mil dollar question. Why? Look at our team. We have no starting pitching and a patched together bullpen. And a farm system with pitching about a year away.
  16. I think we needed 1 more minor league season to get the starting pitching to where are young hitters are. Hopefully Winder, Ober, Canterino, Balazovic, Sands, and Varland are ready to step up next year. If Maeda comes back reasonably well and Ryan continues to progress. We could have a young pretty formidable rotation moving forward.
  17. I don't think the F.O. really believed there was a chance this year. You would not have traded Rogers this year if you thought you were contending. They knew Paddick had arm issues and were ok with him for 2 years after Tommy John. I can't see the F.O. dealing the talent they spent 5 years collecting on taking a shot at it this year while throwing all of the prospects around the league for 2 starters and some relievers.
  18. Carlos seems like a good dude. I hope he enjoys MN and wants to stay. But, his agent doesn't give to poops about where his clients are at. Boras only wants to squeeze every last penny for his clients. I hope there is a happy medium and we can continue to have one of MLB's top shortstops next year!
  19. I don't know if there is enough we can do to propel forward. We need 3/4 relievers and 2 starting pitchers.
  20. That is exactly right! I am sure Williams is a great guy. But if you plan on contending he better not be on your roster.
  21. Not good when the marlins let you go. Maybe orioles.... Pittsburgh.
  22. I'm not smart. Will this happen for the Twins? Or will verbiage keep this from happening for us?
  23. So, still no Twins is what I'm getting from the article. I wonder why Tampa Bay. They have no fans.
  24. Well... there's really not much Rocco the rock star can do to screw up the lineup. As Doc pointed out so eloquently, we have a top 3/4 MLB lineup. As long as Rocco's pencil works and he remembers the names of his position players, he should be able to fill out a lineup card that will produce runs.
