  1. I’ll be there with a friend to see Winder on Thursday. Looks to be hot!! (Temperature wise, too … ) ??
  2. Good game once the offense opened up the scoring! Bullpen in shutdown mode. Any news about why Kepler was removed?
  3. So much useful info, detail, and commentary, Seth! Thank you! I also appreciate having season stats along with that one week’s performance by the top prospects.
  4. Good article! But this part confused me. Is there a typo? Seems contradictory, or else I simply don't understand the point. "Correa, perhaps knowing the bad conditions, has tried to adjust accordingly by avoiding pulling the ball. He’s currently going oppo under 9% of the time, well below the league average and notably different from past Aprils where it has ranged from 25% to almost 41%." He's "avoiding pulling the ball" but is "currently going oppo under 9% of the time ..."??
  5. Thanks for all this, Lucas! I agree about keeping Lewis in St Paul playing SS every day and getting more game experience.
  6. Statistics for defense are so tricky, especially errors (as OP notes). The eye test suggests a lot of pluses, other than whoever they put in left field.
  7. Another characteristically thoughtful post, Doc! I appreciate your considered opinions and observations.
  8. I simply love this story, Sherry! So much fantastic content! Little Harley is amazing. When I was 4 my hometown team won the World Series: Milwaukee Braves over the hated Yankees, four games to three, 1957. That same summer my grandpa took me to see his beloved Cubs at Wrigley field, not many weeks later he died of a heart attack. Growing up, my dad, mom, sister and I would listen to the Braves on the radio while relaxing on our screen porch. After the Brewers came to town, the Twins would visit County Stadium in Milwaukee frequently. I remember being awed by the home runs that Harmon Killebrew always seemed to hit there. It’s a pleasure to see more and more women working in baseball in various capacities as well as writing for outlets like the Athletic, MLB.com, the Star Tribune (Megan), the Pioneer Press (Betsy) — and of course you and Melissa B. and the fun commentators here at TD!
  9. Very nice article, Sherry! Go Women of Baseball!! Had to miss all but the first inning, but the result means I’m now enjoying watching the recording I luckily remembered to set up. Byron Buxton is just … everything!
  10. Yep, all over baseball. Observers like Gleeman here and at the Athletic speculate about reasons: dead ball? Humidor now used at every park? Weather? Shortened spring training? Fans of most teams are feeling the same pain.
  11. Love this update, Melissa! The photos make me jealous. But - I’ve got tickets to see the Twins vs, Tigers April 28th!
  12. Good game! But frustrating that yet another season the 3rd base coach is sending runners home to their doom much too often. ?
  13. “A day at the ballpark is better than any other day” — Melissa, such great scene-setting with actual meaningful quotes from our fellow Twins fans! As Squirrel said, too, you made me feel like I was there. Can’t wait to read your next story for Twins Daily. ?
  14. It was fun watching Twins baseball again! A little strange seeing all the new players, but nice to see Correa make a couple of sharp plays at shortstop and Urshela bang one out. Too bad Sánchez didn’t muscle that last one out. I share Rosterman’s hope or belief that Duran could handle the high leverage situations (though I wouldn’t restrict him to the traditional closer role). Go Twins! Sonny tomorrow!
  15. Thanks, Ted! I'm hopeful that Correa and Polanco will work well together. A little funny that Carlos called Jorge a "kid" since they're not far apart in age.
  16. Hi Melissa! Fun post! I woke up at 5 am on Saturday and normally would have dozed off again except I saw a report when I checked the time on my phone (I'm not on Twitter, so I think it was Gleeman on the Athletic). It was like ... nothing I can remember happening in my years of Twin fandom. I mean, it was cool that they signed Donaldson, but this was a whole 'nother level. What a shock, and what a pleasant surprise.
  17. Nice story, Ted, thanks! On another note, I see that in the tweets you repeat here you've named the folks in the photos. That isn't typically done on the headers (? leading photos?) on TD posts. For this one, I saw Falvey, Correa, and some older white guy - obviously not from the Twins front office, but he lacked the devil's horns or tail so he couldn't be Scott Boras! And then your tweet clarified that yes, that's the man. Anyway, is it technically difficult to caption photos on this site? Or do you expect all of us readers to recognize folks from their faces or body shapes or the like? Kinda of a separator I suppose form those who visit Fort Myers and those who have to watch from afar ...
  18. I agree with Ted's point about flexibility. And I am very grateful for Twins Daily for all its content!! BUT I have a request -- could it be possible for Twins Daily to caption its photos? It's sort of entertaining but often frustrating to try to determine "now ... who is the guy in the big hat, beard, dark sunglasses holding a black bat, as distinct from the guy who ...??" I often have no idea who is in the photos unless a uniform number is visible. I am not be alone.
  19. So happy to have you here, Sherry! Baseball needs more female fans offering their insight. ?❤️
  20. Playing the Tigers this year feels weird. You could field a major league team of nothing but Twins (present and former) with the eight players who batted in the first inning and Charlie on the mound: Badoo (LF), Schoop (2B), Grossman (RF), Cabrera (1B) in the top of the frame, with Barnes (P). Buxton (CF), Polanco (SS), Garver (C), and Donaldson (3B) in the bottom. Where does the mind of the baseball fan wonder near the end of a lost season?
  21. The bullpen really has been lights out (except for the completely unpredictable Colomé). Also, I’m feeling optimistic about Ober and Ryan as mid-rotation arms next year. Nick Gordon gets a bit more impressive every few games.
