  1. Get him and Gordon in the lineup. If we must have Kepler, put him in center so we don't have to watch Jake Cave try to hit. Also, what happened to Josh Donaldson? He seems to have come down with Miguel Sano disease.
  2. Leadership seems to be saying, "Just give us some time and it'll be 2018 again." There doesn't seem to be much urgency. I recommend bunny steps. Next time you go to extra innings, lads, just try to get a runner to third. That would be a big confidence builder.
  3. They need to get to the playoffs and add to their record by losing their next few playoff games in extra innings. What's the MLB record for consecutive extra-innings losses?
  4. Well, he couldn't be worse than Colome, but . . . what about his FEELINGS? I see from today's newspaper that Rocco is working on Colome's feelings too. I guess a lot of daubers are down in that bullpen. It might be time to turn to Astudillo and his 46 mph heater.
  5. After the lads exhausted themselves getting eight hits scoring four yesterday, I think everyone deserves a day off. How can they be expected to play a day game after all that baserunning and stuff? Also, maybe it is time to let the pitchers hit and DH for the catchers. They can't do any worse.
  6. It seems that Buxton's heroics are always futile. He had that monster day on April 11, when the Twins led Seattle 6-0, then blew it. He made a great catch against Oakland, then again yesterday. Some frustration would be natural. Though Cave awakened from his slumbers yesterday, the Twins' outfield, especially without Garlick, is remarkably unproductive with the bat.
  7. Astudillo is 11 for 38. He is tied for FOURTH on the team in hits. Needless to say he has more than Jeffers, Sano, Garver, and Cave, all of whom have more plate appearances. And I'll bet he didn't endanger his team and teammates by declining vaccination. A total team player.
  8. It's hard to win when your entire offense is the solo home run. The Twins have had very few big innings and very few (none?) comebacks this year. Not much verve there.
  9. The weekend series clarified things for the Twins. Cleveland is the better team because of its superior pitching. It lost three starters -- Kluber, Carrasco, and Bauer -- and got better in the process. (Imagine if the Twins had lost three starters.) The Twins are likely to be a wild card team and rather quickly ousted. The clarity achieved is this: A big upgrade in starting pitching is needed for next season. And let us remember to put all this in context: The Twins are 24 games over .500 and right now we're all kind of disappointed.
