    I like to see The Turtle do well. In German mythology there's a creature called a *dummling. He looks maladroit and falls asleep under a tree, whereupon a branch falls on him and breaks his leg and he is laughed at. But, on that very day government soldiers are rounding up all the young men for war. The Turtle is a talisman, a Spirit, a *luck factor which this team in particular needs.

    Schoop has been good, but Arreaz might be better in the long run.

    Suddenly, every opposing starting pitcher is Cy Young. Guess, a slump was inevitable. Arreaz really is valuable, a keeper.

    Rogers should have started the 8th, of course. Glad he pinch-hit for Cave.

    Fielding drill needed. My cat could hit better than Cave, there must be someone they can replace him with. Stewart did a nice job.

    *La Tortuga is the soul of this team. And, it was good to see Cruz greet him at the top of the steps after his HR. Arreaz continues to impress

    I still have hope for him but he's very concerning.

    I rooted for the guy, but Cave is an automatic out. I realize La Tortuga can't play center but, he brings a mystical element to the team all unlikely champion teams need.

    Great fortitude. Kepler and Rosario: *****. Stunned the pen got through this.

    Cruz never gets it done when they really need him to. They talk about his leadership but he doesn't lead by example.

    The defense has been very spotty. Nice to come away with another win but kudos to the relief corps for working around the errors.

    Gibson was terrific but I'm glad he brought in Rogers.

    Romero is a landmine. Still, coming back the way they did after last night's egregious loss is laudable.

    Rogers is #1 on this team. If he's out for a while now they could go on a long losing streak. The errors tonight were awful. Get 'em out on the field like a manager of old and work 'em. How does Garver make an error like that? What is it with Sano and his throws? Just a terrible way to lose.

    Leave Buxton where he is. Less pressure leading to more production. He's coming off a year where his future was cloudy.

    Amazed Parker wriggled out of it. It's hard to have any confidence in this group but if they continue to stay lucky...what's to complain about?

    What a relief to eke out this win. Thought for sure they were gonna get swept.

    Maybe Baldelli can light a fire under them for tomorrow. But, I doubt it.
