Rumor: Max Kepler Drawing Trade Interest
Heiny replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I see the possibility of Arraez and Kepler for Lopez. I'd be ok with that. -
Let's Worry About the Lineup This Winter
Heiny replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Just a thought, but what would it take to sign Josh Bell, a switch hitting 1B with power vs. a RH outfielder? If we could add him along with Correa(this is my first priority) it would alleviate the RH bat problem and use Arraez primarily as DH and occasional utility infielder. That gives us alot of flexibility while using Kiriloff and Larnach as corner outfielders if healthy. I still think Kepler gets traded and Walner could start in St. Paul. However, I haven't heard what kind of money this would require. But, I have always been in favor of the traditional Power hitter at 1B. Seems like a lot of work to do this offseason, but speculation is half the fun. What do TDer's think of this senario.- 27 replies

Minnesota Twins Extension Candidate: Luis Arraez
Heiny replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think the Twins should be able to sign him for 5/65m. Also, as long as he performs, he should always be a valuable trade chip, with a team friendly contract. I'm not advocating to trade him, but we do have several young studs that seem ready to contribute, possibly even more than Luis, coming up in the next few years. If they push Luis into being a trade candidate, great! If they don't come through, no need to trade him. It's like having insurance for your insurance. -
Who are the Backup Options at Third Base?
Heiny replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
It's simple. Farmer backs up 3b and SS after the Twins sign Correa. Get'er done.- 12 replies

Emmanuel Rodriguez Looks Like Minnesota's Big-Bat Prospect
Heiny replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
It's alot of fun to put high expectations on a young player, but I think it would be more prudent to let him go through the proper steps. Let his production dictate how fast he moves up the ladder. Pushing too hard can delay the progress and damage his confidence. Sure, I'd love to see him progress quickly, but as young as he is, I don't think putting too much pressure on him is wise. Let the prospect "develop". -

Twins Tender Contracts to Seven Arbitration Candidates
Heiny replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
All comments so far concern Pagan. How about that? LOL. Yeah, Pagan was very dissappointing last year. But I thought that Rocco's use of him was even more disturbing. I'm not sure what the Twins see in him, but they must think they can fix him. I hope they are right early. Or if they can't fix him early then dump him early, because if it is going to be like last year, he will be a wasted roster spot. I hope they're right. I'd love to see him succeed in a big way, just to see the comments on TD! LOL.- 13 replies

Minnesota Adds Farmer to Infield Mix
Heiny replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not an earth shattering move, but definately provides a safety valve. I liked Urshela a lot, but I believe that Farmer will get that same admiration from Twins fans after the season. Very likable, good clubhouse guy, super utility, needed right-handed bat. I don't see how this could be seen as an obstruction to signing Correa. But they just saved another 4m. Maybe they are trying to set us up for signing Correa and Rodon? If that's the case, I'm on board. -
Twins Add Four to their 40-Man Roster
Heiny replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My crystal ball says Pagan and Contreras will be either traded or DFA'd opening up 40 man spots. Probably another trade or two. Like most everyone else, I'm curious about the Legumina add, but there is no guarentee that he also could be put through waivers. My biggest wonder is the signing of Garlick. Says to me that the Twins will not be in the market for a FA rh outfield bat. Not a bad platoon player but kinda reminds me of a rh hitting Jake Cave with less defensive ability but a little better bat. I will miss Caves' hustle though. .- 52 replies

Do the Twins Have a Trick to Lure Free Agents?
Heiny replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I posted the following on the article stating the Correa opted out of his contract. I think it is appropriate here, so I copied and pasted from Nov. 8. Verified Member 119 Location: Perham, Mn Posted November 8 My humble opinion, which I believe to be fair for both parties. Yes, I want Correa to stay. How about an 8 year contract for $280M slightly front loaded with player options after years 4 and 5 and mutual options after years 6 and 7. Absolutely no "No trade clause". I think this should be offered early and if not accepted move on so we still have options on how to spend that money. With money saved from the Sano and Sanchez Contracts we still have money to sign a frontline pitcher. Our payroll would be virtually the same. Make some trades if necessary to upgrade at C and bullpen. And I think this would be enough to compete, barring the injury factor, but everybody faces that possibility.- 13 replies

I will agree that we have some players on the squad that are not ML quality, including Cave. But, at least I see Cave giving 100% effort and full time hustle. Why can't these players run hard to first on routine play? Many times the defense is not making the plays cleanly. Lack of hustle gives the D extra time to recover and make the plays. Busting on Cave is easy, but some of the rest of our multi-million dollar veterans could learn from him. Show some effort. We need to see some hustle.

Previewing 3 Club Options Facing the Twins
Heiny replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Ok, i know this will be a very unpopular opinion, but I would try to sign Sano before the season ends, to a two year 8M extension with some preformance bonus options. I still like the potential of a big bat in the DH cleanup spot that can fill in at 1b and 3b in a pinch. Just seems like there is so much talent there, IF he is healthy and we could get someone to work with him to bring out his talent. Maybe it's the Big Papi scenario that scares me. But that would be cheap enouph, and he should accept. (Heiny begins ducking the fruits and vegetables now.)- 53 replies

This is It For Miguel Sano: What Now?
Heiny replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
LOL, I didn't catch your real name, or which major league team you played for. But for most of us, YES, it would really be that hard to recognize a slider from a ML pitcher. And to those who were lost to Sano when he was "accused" of harrassment, the charges weren't proven. And I don't know either, whether they were true or not, but let's not discount what damage can be done by being falsely accused. Good luck Miguel, I for one hope you become the next Big Papi.- 34 replies

Assessing the Twins Trade for Tyler Mahle
Heiny replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
For me, this is pretty much what TD fans have been asking for. We needed to shore up the pen, and we needed an upgrade at SP. We did that without giving up Larnach, Kirilloff, Miranda, Martin, Balozovich, Winder, Lewis etc. It shows that we want to win now, while we are in fist place in Aug. Will it be enough? No one knows, but we really didn't give up the future. We still have a very young team that should be no worse next year with maybe more money to spend in FA. It just looks like a very strong effort by this front office. I say kudos. Could it have been better? Sure, but we weren't the only ones buying here, and we also aren't the richest be it prospect capital, or payroll limit. Again, I say kudos to the front office. Whether it works out or not, we did what could reasonably be expected, and clamored for on this fan site for months.- 46 replies

3 X-Factors for the Twins in the Second Half
Heiny replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So, let me get this straight. We need two top relievers, one top starting pitcher, and a reliable good hitting catcher to compete for the playoffs. And we have six days to acquire these pieces. My crystal ball says "be prepared to be disappointed". Oh the ever optimist once again turns pessimist. LOL.- 23 replies

Funny, but it feels to me that the Twins, for whatever reason, just keep finding more ways to lose. Not feeling good about the remaining season. Pitching, arrrgghhhh. Usage??? I don't know. But it just feels bad.

Twins Select Brooks Lee #8 Overall
Heiny replied to Jeremy Nygaard's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I absolutely love this first night of the draft. Brooks Lee was my #1 even if the Twins had the first overall pick. I am shocked and elated that he fell. Here is a player who is probably the closest to MLB as anyone in the draft. Age?= maturity. Physically developed, baseball IQ. And to get Prielipp in the 48 spot is another pleasant surprise. I thought he would go in the later half of the first round. Hey, the draft is a crapshoot, but I love what the front office has done here. -
Minnesota Twins 2021 Draft Retrospective
Heiny replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Obviously still too early to tell if any on this list will provide major league value, "BUT" At this point, it looks very promising. Lets just hope for good health, good teaching and continued development. Seems like an impressive draft at this point.- 7 replies

2022 MLB Draft Consensus Big Board, Part 2 (25-1 Overall)
Heiny replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Dreaming of Brooks Lee falling to Twins. Maybe just short of praying? Yeah, I don't see it happening either. High on Neto, Collier, Prada, and Cross. If for some reason Green would fall to us I would be upset if he weren't snatched up, unless of course we had to choose between Green and Lee. I would have to go with Lee. In any case, I think we will get one of the above players and would have a hard time being upset about any of them. Great article. Thanks. -
2022 MLB Draft Consensus Big Board, Part 1 (56-26 Overall)
Heiny replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Wow, great article. Am quite surprised at how the comments are reinforcing my thoughts to this point. I would like to have the Twins take one of the top all around athletes in the first round, but focus on catcher in the second. I am also on the Rushing and Logan bandwagon. (taking into account how little I know). I have been reading a lot about the draft prospects and love the idea of the consensus. Nice work and I will be looking forward to the top 26. Thanks. -
Mill1634's Trade Deadline Blueprint: Going for It
Heiny commented on Mill1634's blog entry in Milldaddy35's Blog Area
I like it. I think you put a lot of time and research into your trade scenarios and I believe it makes the team much better. Hate to see some guys go, like Speers and Martin, but you have to give up something good to get something good. Also, you did not trade away Kirilloff or Larnach. These two, to me, are untouchable unless the return was stupidly "CAN'T REFUSE" deals. But that's not gonna happen. Thanks for the article. Great read.
