  1. This. Graterol is a stud. You don't trade game changers of his caliber. Brusdar was great in 2019 and will be great in 2020. Twins picked up the lesser player now and in the future.
  2. The latest is that Boston is trying to reconfigure the deal with the Twins, "meaning more than Graterol". Even though I'm in the camp of the price of Graterol for Maeda is too steep for the Twins I can live with the deal. But if the deal is more than Graterol we should move on very quickly. Screw Boston. They won't be competing in 2020 and will lose Betts after 2020 and will still owe an aging Price another 64mil after 2020. Let them lie in the mess they've made. Graterol easily becomes their #1 prospect. Move on Falvine.
  3. BoSox are a douche org. Trying to play this into more now. Most Graterol had pitched is 102 IP, now they want to question whether he is good for 150-170? Let them keep, and lose, Betts and pay the luxury tax this season on Price. Falvine, do not give up even more for Maeda than you already are
  4. I saw him as a guy that could either open for 2 innings or relieve a guy like Odo for 2. He also ought to be able to pitch 1 inning in between. That gives his team 90-95 IP of high 90's heat. He showed end of last season that he was ML ready. Maeda is not a better win now player. Again I have no problem with acquiring Maeda. It's the cost.
  5. The Dodgers from what I can tell made a great deal for their 2020 season. Betts for Verdugo. Price replaces Maeda who was sent to the pen regularly. Only figure I've seen is the BoSox will pay a substantial amount of Prices salary.
  6. But Maeda's best WAR was 2.9. In his 4 seasons he's only totaled 5.2. Again I'm not anti Maeda. Its just that giving up an asset like Graterol seems like too much to pay for him. In response to an earlier post, I don't think its fair to compare Graterol to the failings of Gonsalves, Stewart, etc. Each player succeeds and fails on their own merits not on someone else's. Graterol's biggest obstacle will be to stay healthy. I was really looking forward to him opening in 2020, or piggybacking for 2 innings off of Odorizzi maybe. GL in Boston Brusdar. And welcome to MN Kenta Maeda.
  7. I actually like getting Maeda. I don't like the price being Graterol. I agree that getting a controllable SP is going to come at a steep price. But imo that price should have come out of our surplus, ie Kiriloff, Larnach, Lewis etc. Trading away a Graterol who can fling the ball at 100mph plus is a hard pill to swallow. It really doesn't even matter if Brusdar is only good for 60-70 IP for season. We needed pitching yes. But giving up pitching when you had a surplus elsewhere is a poor move. Graterol is just as much of a win now player as Maeda is imo. I'm neutral on this deal at this point.
  8. 392.2 IP in 18-19. That's good for 8th in the AL both seasons. Top 10 in 2019 in ERA, ERA+ and FIP. What's he supposed to do? Some team will be happy to call him their Ace in 2023 and pay him 30mil plus.
  9. This is the best offer listed in this article so far. But tbh if Berrios were an FA this off season you couldn't sniff him for this price. Wheeler got 5/118. This is the kind of deal Berrios would get as an FA. Easily. Granted he's not going to get 24 mil per season for the next 3 arb campaigns. But on the other hand he's not going to sign away his first 2 prime FA seasons away cheaply either. That's what's being suggested when people throw out 5/60 contracts. Should he continue to progress as he has every season in his career thus far he should make around 30mil plus through the arb process. He then becomes an FA a year younger then Wheeler was when he hit the open market. IF Berrios stays healthy he has some huge paydays ahead of him.
  10. Exactly. But my bet is he's far closer to his 2017-18 self than his 2019. One thing that stands out to me from last season is he was killed by the HR, he gave up a career high. A tweek or two and we could have a very solid addition to our team. Good sign. If not he is easily sent packing and we fall back to Dobnak/Smeltzer/Thorpe.
  11. I beg to differ with Seth. I think Chacin has some good upside. This is just an milb signing, and a good one. Better sign than Hill and Bailey imo.
  12. March 14 1994 Webster was traded to Montreal as part of a conditional deal. I wonder if that deal was ever fulfilled. If not maybe we could get Lenny back. Except for the Expos are no longer.
  13. I might swap Rosario and Garver in his lineup too. Crazy good lineup for sure.
  14. I'm for this. Let Crane pay his players for nothing. What a crook. Won't happen of course.
  15. Crane also knew darn well what was going on too. What a farce. Reap millions with a WS and get a slap on the wrist. An organization that turns a blind eye and Hinch gets to fall on the sword.
  16. And I don't get a union that will tolerate this. Beltran is guilty and gets nothing because the players union will resist punishment? What a crock. Hang Beltrans *** out to dry. Now he's a manager. Kick him out. No to him and others who are cheating for HOF either. This imo is as bad as Rose. Honestly, worse.
  17. So Beltran and other players who participated will not be punished. Boston, other than Cora, nothing. Crane's Asstros lose 4 draft picks and 5 mil. That's an easy incentive to cheat. This destroys the integrity of the game. Personally this could signal my walking away from this game.
  18. Or enjoy today's North Dakota State FCS title. Final today: NDSU 28 James Madison 20. This marks NDSU's 8th title in 9 seasons. Today's win was their 37th in a row. A true Dynasty in our backyard. I'm a lifelong, 52 years young, Twins fan and I think this off season leaves something to be desired too. But I can find plenty of other resons for joy in life though. A big hooray for the Sano signing too. Great value, and since we aren't into big FA deals it's nice to keep a potential beast in Miguel. BOSOX won't get Big Pappy2 anytime soon.
  19. Exactly. Cruz and Gonzalez come off the books after 2020 and Donaldson's contract would replace their money essentially. Save the prospects and sign JD if you insist on getting a 3B other than Sano.
  20. Sano with his now 4 year deal in hand has now vaulted up this list. I'd put him in a tie for 3rd with Polanco right behind Berrios and Kepler. With his ability to dominate a game with his bat it could even be argued that he's now our #1 asset. Pitchers don't fear either Kepler or Polanco. I believe they do when it comes to Sano. Great extension by Falvey.
  21. Why is it that the player is somehow bad that he wants to get optimal value for his services rendered?
  22. My thinking as well. Makes me very optimistic that they won't go to the arb hearing and that a 4 or 5 year extension is doable.
  23. Righteous indignation. Really. So I guess only the opinion that Clippard, Avilla and Romo are "impact" is a right one then.
  24. I would likely switch Polanco and Berrios in the rankings. If trade values is what is driving these rankings I'd find it hard to believe that anyone would have a higher value than Jose Berrios with the high demand for front end SP.
  25. As far as Cruz coming here, his options were pretty much us. I'm glad we have him but it isn't like he had much for choices.
