  1. Looks to me that we will have 3 OF trade candidates in Cave, Wade, and Rosario.
  2. Starting Monday, Mauer/Sano instructional workouts begin. Dreams do come true. Next dream is a dominate starting pitcher.
  3. Thank you to all those involved that make this site what it is. Greatly appreciated. A day without Twins Daily is like a day without sunshine!
  4. IMHO, the FO is trying to establish who is going to be the foundation for the club for the next several years to come, which is a reason for one year contracts. Who will be the next prospects to step up in 2020, and who will be brought in from elsewhere? As of right now, the foundation could be viewed something like this: Position players: Polanco and Kepler are signed. Waiting to see if Buxton and Sano can each play somewhere around 140+ games a season and what will the results of that be? If they prove they can accomplish that, hopefully they will see their just reward. Latest to come onto the scene are Garver and Arraez. Hope they can both stick with the club. So far the outlook is good. Rosario? Maybe with a few tweaks and concentration. Its the little things that are keeping him from making the next step. Is Adrianza our next utility man after Gonzales? Staring Pitching: Berrios needs a long term deal. Odorizzi needs to be considered for an extension, but will likely be a FA. Who and how many will come through from the farm system? Relief pitching: Rogers needs a contract sometime soon. Can Duffy, Littell, May, and Stashak all prove they belong during this year? Again who can come up from the farm? Rome wasn't built in a day either.
  5. I am puzzeled with all those names being brought up for pieces of a trade that one name that has never surfaced is Adrianza. I keep thinking that he might have close to the value of Gonzolas or Escobar as a utility man. Granted, he doesn't have the power of an Escobar, but, what would be the results if he were to play 125 games or so?
  6. Trades can be like a box of chocolates, you never know what is in the box until you eat all the chocolates.
  7. All we ever need is the Ghost of Christmas past, because he is the same one as the Ghost of Christmas present and future.
  8. In September we saw the won/loss record with and without Buxton. What if Buxton played 150+ games plus the playoffs? We may not ever know that answer if he keeps hitting walls. Buxton maybe needs to go to my pillow.com to pad the outfield wall.
  9. Considering Sano's childhood and all the changes he has had to go through has been overwhelming for him. It has taken time for him to grow up and constantly adjust during the past few years. It looks like he has come to a time where he is finally able to start settling in and he is realizing that if its going to be, its up to me. I am optimistic that we will see more upside still to come.
  10. Like the plan. Only change I would consider is to add Cave in a trade package somewhere. Use his roster spot to bring up some of the guys for a stint from the farm to get their feet wet and let them realize what they need to work on if and when they get sent back down. Also the coaches and FO get the opportunity to see what they potentially have in a player at the MLB level. Injuries are going to happen. Hopefully when there is a callup, they wont be coming up totally green.
  11. One would think he would be a considerable step up from Perez.
  12. First of all, congrats to you and the Mrs. At one point in time, the Astros were the worst team in baseball. They started building and made the playoffs. If memory serves correctly, they didn't go far the first year, but look what happened since. For the Twins this year, however far they go, it is an important big step.
  13. So, the first thing Rocco tells Dyson when he walks in the clubhouse is "suck it up, buttercup".
  14. Consider Thorpe and Smeltzer in the pen along with Pineda? We do have a few days to run Thorpe and Smeltzer out of the pen to see how they would do. Trade or release any of Mejia, May, Duffey, Morin, Gordon, Stewart, Gonsalves, Rooker for MadBum and Smith?
  15. Maybe the reason Sano is guessing is that he cant recognize a pitch. Would it help if he was instructed to take the first 3 pitches where he would probably be in a 2 - 1 count. The hitting coach takes notes on each pitch and sits down with him after each at bat and discuss what they saw with each pitch? Gotta try something to help him improve.
  16. Congratulations to Devin!!! Hope he gets another start. He deserves it. Hope he had another dream as a kid that he won the deciding game of the World Series!
  17. IMHO,play Arraez every game until Cruz comes back to extend his look. We pretty much know what we have in the Turtle. Hate to say it but one if not both get sent down by the time Garver comes back barring other injuries. Play Adrianza as a second utility guy with the hope of boosting his trade value before the deadline. Because we have Gonzo, package Adrianza with possibly Schoop, Cave, or minor leaguers for pitching. Use any trade deadline moves to improve the team not just for this year, but also future years. Isn't it fun to have these kind of problems?
  18. After 40 games he might be entering it, so all he has to do now is sustain through the next 122 games, plus the next 4 years remaining on his contract after that. Only then is when we can start comparing him to Carew.
  19. Watching the game last nite, it hit me that the Jays are looking like the Twins team we suffered through watching last year. Had expectations that never really got off the ground. What a difference it is to watch a team that is winning and having fun. Whod - a - thunkit! Keep it rolling Guys!
  20. Don't get me wrong, I like Morneau in the booth, but its hard to take all the enthusiasm that radiates from his facial expressions and his voice.
  21. When was the last time we had starters go 4 out of 5 games with quality starts? If this keeps up, they might be serving crow at the state fair........on a stick!
  22. Every team likely has assets and liabilities within their team, when comparing all players to each other player on the team. As the way the Twins position players are currently constructed, here is the way I view them, and will include Sano on this even though he is not currently on the 25 man. To improve the team, you need to turn liabilities into assets. Assets - in no particular order: Rosario Buxton Keplar Polanco Garver The Turtle Cruz Marwin Schoop Liabilities: Castro Adrianza On the bubble: Need to establish themselves Cron Cave Sano I could understand The Turtle being here.
  23. I see either Adrianza or Castro being dealt by the time Sano comes back. Probably the other soon after to make room for another pitcher. Can't see any reason why they would send Garver or The Turtle down. At this point, they both need to be regulars on the field. Another choice to improve the team could be either Marwin or Cron or Castro or Adrianza as part of a trade package for a GOOD pitcher. Gonna have to give something to get something.
