  1. I would have to call it agressively reckless. I didn't get to see the game or replays, but when you look at the photo above, the ball is hitting the wall about a foot off the ground. And Bux is leaping and crashing into the wall, looking down at the ball? Apparently he had no clue where the ball was. Not a bright play. He needs to keep in mind the season is 162 games, not just 1 week. Maybe some classroom time with Rocco and Hunter followed by practice on the field.
  2. The biggest difference I see between this team and last year is that these guys are having fun. Granted, its only 3 games, but it shows. Attitude is 90% of the game. The other 50% is physical!
  3. Here's to Austudillo needing to out run his helmet countless times! If they bat him in front of Buxton, then he will have to have the awareness there could be a helmet laying on the ground somewhere in front of him!
  4. If Garver and Austudillo are able to be more consistent with their bats (which I expect to see) compared to Castro, plus picking up well on the new framing/receiving as discussed in a previous article, I see it possible that Castro gets traded to a team who has their catcher go down to injury.
  5. With opening day 2 weeks away, have you heard any reports on the condition of Target Field, considering the weather conditions we have had the last 4 months?
  6. Thinking that Zach is a victim of a good farm system. Things start getting crowded, and some have to be moved on at times. Hoping for all the best for his future!
  7. I am thinking Marwin is very likely to have a better year overall than 2 or 3 or 4 of those we are considering our starters or 25 man at this point in time. Sano? Castro? Schoop? Cron? Kepler? Buxton? Adrianaza? Some of these might be in their year of pass or fail. Marwin signing is an improvement to this team. Still need a pitcher or two, hoping we aren't done yet. Answers to our questions will start coming to light in another month.
  8. IMHO, Kepler seemed to do better before he started being concerned about launch angle this past year. To me, the drawback when trying to achieve launch angle is that it provides fielders more time to get under the ball for an out. Remembering the swing of Rod Carew, all he was trying to accomplish was to meet the ball with the bat. Seems like that ended up being a fairly successful approach over time. Also Tony Oliva's saying of see ball - hit ball. Granted, a home run is good every once in a while, but you cant expect to hit the ball out every at bat. Crooked numbers mostly come from having runners on base. Hope Max can get back to the swing and approach that used to work for him.
  9. Sano gets hurt in April. Austudillo comes up as his replacement and makes the All Star game.
  10. While reading this, I started thinking back to last year that there seemed to be a lot of games the Twins scored enough runs by say the 5th or 6th inning to be in good position to win the game. Then looked back and added up all the blown saves. I was blown away. 26!!!!!! Uff-Dah! How many other games did we have a good lead and couldn't hold it, thru innings 5, 6, 7, or 8? Pitching. Pitching. Pitching. I do realize errors could play a part in this, but not that often. Pretty self explanatory where the need is at.
  11. Kepler didnt have to play 1B because we had Joe. Would be good to have Max available to play 1B for a LH bat, and another LH bat in RF, or due to an injury to Cron. May wants to be in the pen. He feels he can be more effective there. Sounds like that is where his confidence is best suited. Start with Romero in the pen and let him build his confidence there and give him some spot starts as he progresses. Seemed to work OK for Johan. We need more than a half a pen where the manager doesn't dare to use the other half. Let Austudillo play. That is the only way he can prove he is what we are hoping to see from him. He has his foot in the door, so let him open it. I personally would like to see him kick the door down!!!
