  1. I think you nailed it. Our bullpen is relying on Lopez and Alcala. If they are both at top form we'll be okay.
  2. I cringe when I hear the word Pagan. I don't think he has the mental makeup it takes to pitch in any type of stressful situation ..
  3. I wonder if we would be having this conversation if we hadn't cast C.J. Cron to the wind ..
  4. Let's just hope his injury history is behind him or he could wind up in the pen like Duran. I will be interested to see how he performs this year but only time will tell. For now, he's a hype pitcher. Maybe by the end of this year he will be projectable ..
  5. Whoa! Knocking Maranda for getting in better shape? Do we even know how much weight he lost? Funny thing about muscle mass, you can lose 10 pounds and be bigger and stronger. And you can have better bat speed. Hard for me to knock Miranda for trying to address his biggest weakness, range and arm strength at third base. I reserve judgment until I see how he does in spring training. Remember, this was a guy that batted .330 in the minors. If he can bat .300 in the majors what says he has to be an all star fielding third baseman to be a big asset to the team.
  6. He's not projected to reach the majors until 2026. We have plenty of time to evaluate him. But I love his size and speed. Stealing 33 bases out of 34 attempts is a phenomenal number. That has to come from not only speed but a real knack for base stealing .. I was really pleased with the haul we got for Arraez ..
  7. Yasser Mercedes has one thing you can't teach and that's speed. Yes he has to prove himself A ball and grow into his body, but the fact he stole 30-35 attempts and can cover a lot of ground in the outfield gives him a chance ..
  8. Not sure why Matt Canterino got into the conversation but since he is I can't wait to see him healthy again. With his injury history a back into reliever would seem to be the best option but you never know now that his arm is rebuilt.
  9. I love this guy .. We always talk about having an ace but having three number two's work. I think we have three two's, maybe a three and a four. with Ryan slotting in as one of the three two's. I prefer to look at it that way than just lining up five pitchers and slotting them as 1-5.
  10. Ha! When have you know the Twins to have a set anything in their up and down their lineup the past several years. Maybe you're article should read .. who are the 8 players the Twins will use in the leadoff spot this season
  11. I'd like to see how he performs this year before I get overly excited. Such a small body of work and coming off surgery. I'd be thrilled if he was able to become a top closer however so my bar isn't too high ..
  12. Kepler, Celestino, Gordon .. I would be fine trade any or all if the return was fair. Actually I'd rather trade Gallo than Gordon .. But only for quality relief pitching ..
  13. Please don't sign anymore position players. It will only set back the young players development in the majors. If we do, the Saints will be unbeatable 😄
  14. Any player is tradable. What's important is what you get for him. I think Arraez, Polanco and Kepler are all tradable because we have Lewis, Lee and Julian almost ready and they will need positions to play. All are capable of playing second and third base with Lewis able to play outfield as well.
  15. Just wait until June and the Twins will have enough outfielders on IR to sort all of this out. It's the last man standing scenario.
  16. I have followed Moran in our system as well and would love for his performance in the bigs last year not to be a fluke but I really struggled with his implosions every time we sent him back to AAA
  17. I've got to say the contract is still a little confusing to me? Is this really an 8 year contract for 275 million with an out for the twins after 6 years if he's not healthy.? Was the original offer 295 mill for 10 years? I never like to commit to a player for 10 years much less 12 or 13 years like the Giants and Met's. I really like the fact it's only a 6 year commitment if his ankle doesn't hold up.
  18. I don't like Celestino's lack of power and mental lapses on defense. If Martin is ready mid season (who bat's right) and proves himself I would be all for trading Celestino. But for now his ability to play centerfield will keep him here whether in the bigs or AAA waiting Buxton to get injured. That said, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict Buxton has his first heathy full season.
  19. Could Martin be the right hand hitting outfielder we have been needing? If he is able to back up Buxton and play one of the corners against left handed pitching along with the fact he can pinch run in the late innings if on the bench I could see a home for Martin mid season.
