Front Page: No MLB Network? Then No Game for You!
nokomismod replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
yes, I agree they created a product that we cannot do without and I can see why you do not want to give them more $. Still for some reason I would rather pay less for their better product vs paying comcast. -
Front Page: No MLB Network? Then No Game for You!
nokomismod replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree, but I think cutting the cord and streaming makes sense (both financially and for quality of service) and do I really care that Google knows that I watch mostly sports along with knowing what I email and search? -

Brock who in this large media business isn't taking liberties with your data? -
Yes, he has been the hottest of the established pitchers and it is not fair to give Dobnak the ball in game one. Game one Odorizzi Two Dobnak Three Berrios to clinch

Great win and good to see Berrios have a nice outing and hit 200 innings. I'm starting to wonder if Rosario needs soome Dobnak style glasses though. He is not tracking the ball well. I hope that is not a problem in the playoffs. The agressiveness from the batters this season and the fact that it has not resulted in a high strike out team is the secret sauce. I know the Yankees have a similar ball club and that is why this series will be so fun. Whichever team catches fire.

Yes to the post season roster. Between him, DuffMan, Romo, Rogers, and May the Twins could have a really tough BP. Which is good, because the first five or six innings are pretty scary. Also yes to treating 2020 as an opportunity to limit innings but stretch him a bit in the bull pen. The Twins are bound to have a bad start in 2020 at least every fifth go around (unless Dobnak, Smeltzer, and Thorpe are really good), and he could be a guy that could go three innings every 4 days.

I don't think any team does, but the Twins lineup can outscore some other pitchers. Please give Thorpe and Smeltzer a shot at replacing Gibson and Perez.

Great summary of the week that was. What are Larnach and Kirilloff up to now that their Blue Wahoo seasons are over?- 38 replies

I remember a mid summer game i think in 2017 when he was struggling and there was talk about him being done, and against Baltimore he was struggling, but the offense scored a bunch in the middle innings and he just kind of figured it out. He started striking out hitters both in that game and then for the next 1.5 years on a good slider and a high four seamer. It was a great stretch for him and like others have said he is an easy guy to root for. I do not think that means he shoudl be on the post season roster this year though.

Eddie is starting to get hot. I think as a manager you need to know how to motivate and discipline your players. Eddie's game is to showboat and have fun. I think it's great having a guy with his attitude on the team as it breeds a certain cotagious confidence (not afraid of the moment). So no, I do not think you bench him. You do not want him pouting with the playoffs only two weeks away. Talk with him about it and move on. The OF is thin and the Twins need him playing well to have a chance. BTW, did you notice he is no longer limping when he's running. To me being at the game last night I was big picture happy about the speed he once he finally kicked it in gear.

I don't know the chances of Buxton and Kepler being back for the post season, but from the outside side it feels like there is very little chance with Buxton and maybe a 60% chance with Kepler. I think it would be foolish for the Twins not to give Kirillof a try to be the RF for the stretch run and if he succeeds to add him to the post season roster. If Kepler gets healthy an OF of Kirilloff, Kepler, and Rosario on paper sounds much better than gimpy Cave, Kepler, and Rosario. If Kepler doesn't get healthy then we are talking an OF of Wade/Gonzalez, Cave, and Rosario (with two of those three returning from injury).

Front Page: Silver Linings Amid September Storms
nokomismod replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Congratulations to you and your partner, Nick. Also this has been such a fun regular season from the Twins. It far exceeded any expectations I had coming in, and while I hope they finish with a bang and win it all, I am prepared for that not happening, in part due to the late injury bug.- 23 replies

Reading through this thread I'm surprised by the number of people that are mad at Pineda. I would not be surprised if over 50% of MLB players are using PEDs and trying to mask them. As Twins fans we benefitted from the bounce back season big Mike had. He was becoming one of my favorite players and I would still be happy if the Twins tried to resign him.

Agreed that it was a great team win and fun to see some Kepler get the big clutch hit. I was worried that they would end up with 14 hits and only 2 runs to show for it. What do people think Wade's ceiling is? Is a high obp with the ability to steal some bases? Defensively he has looked pretty good in limited duty.

This is one of the most important parts of September if the Twins make the playoffs. Hopefully Thorpe or Smetlzer will make the most of this opportunity and improve the SP for the playoffs.

I'd love to see them go the six or seven starters route (Smeltzer or Thorpe) in September or have those two guys step in and skip starts for the others. If either of them looks really good why not consider them as playoff starters. The rotation as it stands right now does not seem capable of playoff magic.

On pitching it really depends who is performing well over the next five weeks. If Smetlzer gets hot and has a string of quality starts I would have no problem with him being one of the playoff starters. For the bench I wish there was a fast pinch runner/stellar defensive replacement player available. I'm guessing Cave would probably be the closest thing to that at this time.

Realize I jumped the gun on Larnach possibly being ready to replace Cave on the Twins roster. Cave has been a big contributer over the past five games or so and Larnach needs one more season. Who will get that 40th spot on the roster?

Front Page: Defensive Dive Highlights Twins Fall
nokomismod replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Would Adrianza spelling Polanco two games a week at short be alright for a little while. I have a feeling that some of the players (Kepler and Polanco especially) have hit the wall a little bit and could use a few days. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be anyone that can give Kepler a break. -
Yes I think tonight is make or break for Perez. If he struggles early I hope he is pulled for Smeltzer who will take his place in the rotation moving Perez into the bullpen where I think he could add value.
