  1. I'm not hearing any audio for this report. Earlier reports are fine, so it's not me.
  2. Not sure why you have a paywall. I don't have a membership but can see the article. I found his quote about leaving Arkansas previously for the Twins interesting. Perhaps a bit of a rationalization for leaving the Twins in the middle of the season. “When I left to go to the Twins, you're at Arkansas — you just finished your fall seasons, is that the ideal time? No. There's never an ideal time,”
  3. The article about Wes Johnson's departure from Twins for LSU. https://www.nola.com/sports/lsu/wes-johnson-building-toughness-confidence-for-lsu-pitching/article_7a8abfe8-a72a-11ed-9c86-cf1cd409181f.html
  4. I imagine he'll be optioned to start 2024 when he returns from Tommy John. He's only pitched a few games above class A ball.
  5. To be clear, the NY Post article says that Boras has checked in with other teams. Twins are one of the teams "in contact" with Boras. The article doesn't say that the Twins "have contacted" Boras. Boras seems to be reaching out to the Twins, not visa versa.
  6. KSTP just posted a 6 1/2 minute interview with Derek Falvey by Doogie Wolfson. The covered a series of different offseason topics. https://kstp.com/minnesota-sports/derek-falvey-interview-gallo-buxton-trade-talks-mahle-maeda/
  7. Is this referring to this morning's article in the Atlantic? I don't have a subscription, but from the title it appears to be a recap of the winter meetings. It doesn't seem like Aaron Gleeman is breaking news with a report of a new offer.
  8. This week's episode of Freakonomics Radio talks about Moneyball and the analytics revolution. https://freakonomics.com/podcast/did-michael-lewis-just-get-lucky-with-moneyball/
  9. I wonder if the Pohlad family has ever used the code "Gleeman" when purchasing something.
  10. Clubs draft in reverse order of the standings from the previous season. Twins and Red Sox tied for the thirteenth lowest winning percentage in 2022. https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/rule-5-draft
  11. Owner John Sherman proposes to build a $2B stadium, entertainment district in or near downtown Kansas City. https://www.kshb.com/sports/royals-to-leave-kauffman-stadium-seek-2b-plan-for-stadium-entertainment-district-in-missouri
  12. I still have 500 riel from a trip I took to Cambodia decades ago. Carlos can have that too. Hopefully he doesn't check the exchange rate.
  13. According to MLB.com, Varland was sent down to AAA today.
  14. La Velle E Neal states that there have been at least two "reports" that Correa has decided to opt out after this season. La Velle doesn't identify the sources though. https://www.startribune.com/carlos-correa-35-1-million-contract-hasn-t-done-enough-lavelle-neal/600199934/
  15. MLB's latest offer is a hard $181 million in guaranteed spending, with each team unable to exceed their allocated limit. The union wants at least $260 million guaranteed, with teams allowed to exceed their limits up to 20% before incurring a loss of a draft pick. The deadline for a potential agreement is 25 July. MLB has offered to get rid of the qualifying offer system for impending free agents if a draft agreement can be reached. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/34249909/sources-mlb-mlbpa-remain-80m-apart-international-draft-money
  16. Last year, the Astros sent Alex Bregman on a second rehab assignment when the team concluded he wasn't ready at the end of his initial 20-day rehab window. He had to sit out five days and then began the second assignment. That's another possibility for Sano, depending on how he progresses. https://www.mlb.com/news/alex-bregman-set-for-minor-league-rehab-assignment
  17. Pitchers have up to thirty days for a rehab assignment. Those recovering from Tommy John can receive up to three additional ten day extensions.
  18. And the years before and after the Twins took Gorden, they selected Kohl Stewart and Tyler Jay with the fourth and sixth overall picks. So yes it could definitely be worse.
  19. Sano begins his rehab assignment today. https://www.mlb.com/news/twins-injuries-and-roster-moves
  20. Dan Hayes says Johnson's status for the rest of the season is not yet known.
  21. The Guardian's radio announcer Tom Hamilton a few days ago ripped Sano for being "fat." Perhaps that's what you heard. Or perhaps there now multiple sources. https://larrybrownsports.com/baseball/cleveland-announcer-tom-hamilton-miguel-sano-fat/599446
  22. Aaron Gleeman in yesterday’s Gleeman and the Geek said Maeda was had the option of continuing his rehab in Fort Myers or moving it to St. Paul. He chose St. Paul so he could be near his teammates. I don’t think the timeline of his rehab has changed, whatever timeline that may be.
  23. Sonny Gray to throw a bullpen session on Friday. May return to the rotation next week. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/twins-sonny-gray-set-to-throw-extended-bullpen/
  24. It also just means that two other players will become the union rep and assistant rep. Nothing will change in that respect.
