  1. Couple made plays from being 7-0. Gotta like that. Taking care of business when you need to. Couple blowout wins. When the offense is on, they can be scary. Great to see Buxton having fun. Hopefully he realizes that a diving catch in the 5th inning is great for the highlight reel, but staying healthy and getting 600 AB's is much more important to the team. Bullpen has been pretty solid. Starters have been solid. Hope that Happ can go more than 4 innings in his starts. Shoemaker was a pleasant surprise in his debut. Can he keep it up? Berrios and Maeda (outside 1 inning) have looked great. Pineda put up a good start. Go Twins!
  2. Basically MLB has said it doesn't want extra inning games. At this point, they might as well make overtime a home run derby. Each player in the lineup gets 2 balls from a designated person that the mlb has stationed at every game. Once through the lineup and whoever has the most home runs, wins the game. MLB's version of an NHL shootout.
  3. The extra inning rule is stupid. S basically there's no overtime in baseball anymore. If they want to limit the amount of extra innings, then make the runner come for the 12th inning. At least that's how the Twins have lost; via some stupid rule.
  4. Dude is soft. Soft. Soft. Soft. With Arraez hitting the way he is, we don't need him.
  5. Why not just say that tickets for 2 are 10 bucks? If you wanted to go by yourself, that's what it would be, right?
  6. That's a product of a stupid rule. Dobnak was not the problem. Strikeouts are needed in that situation. Mishandling of the bullpen. There's 161 games to go. If a game like this happened in game 54, no panicking would ensue. Robles looked solid. Kepler had a great game. Buxton too. Maeda had 1 long inning, but other than that wasn't awful. Rogers was solid. Arraez was fine. Lots of positives to take away from the game.
  7. Feel the Twins made a mistake with parting ways with their cleanup hitter. Prospects are just that until they prove it in the MLB. Hopefully Kirilloff can somewhat replace Rosario.
  8. And just like that he is sent down. Would rather have seen Astudillo get shipped out, but I guess if they don't want to take a chance if Avila gets hurt. Astudillo is not a good catcher though.
  9. Eddie is top 5 in all major categories on the Twins. Most of his stats are in the top 3. Eddie is a gamer, a good player, and a leader. I don't see how you phase him out right now. Offseason may be a different animal, but right now the team is better with Eddie.
  10. What? That would be a terrible deal. Buxton has played essentially three full years in a six year career to a respectable 10 WAR. However, he cannot stay healthy and can you realistically expect his speed to stay elite into his late 20s and early 30s? I certainly don't. $20 million for a career .706 OPS player? No thanks. That $20 million needs to go to a starting pitcher.
  11. A couple things: 1) Bullpen games gotta go. I don't understand how it is justifiable with a really good team. Take your chances with a spot starter from St. Paul or go with Smeltzer. To me, it seems to really mess with the next couple days. I get that they had an off day today, but they have like three straight weeks of games coming up. 2) Is Duffey better than Rogers? I say the results so far point to yes. I don't know if it matters what the "title" is in terms of closer, but I do tend to feel a little more confident when Duffey is in the game as opposed to Rogers the past couple weeks. 3) Theilbar and Gearrin are hopefully being replaced by Littell and Hill in the next week. When's the last time the Twins have had such a deep six with Rogers, Duffey, May, Romo, Clippard, and Stashak? I can't think of a better sextet. Go Twins!
  12. Not at all, dude. You don't need to add anything to team salary by pitching Poppen. These games are twice as important as any other game in a normal season. Regardless of saving the bullpen, which he did, he was close to blowing the lead today. Still would have liked to see Poppen in there for the ninth.
  13. I will be very worried if Caleb Theilbar is used in any sort of non-save-the-bullpen role. I don't care what Rocco says about his stuff... there's a reason he hasn't played in five years... Now is not the time for reclamation projects.
  14. Twins looked pretty good last night. Big time win. Time to get another big one tonight! Go Twins!
  15. I feel as if his value would be highest during the season. During the offseason, teams can sign free agents, so there'd be a bigger pool of talent to choose from without necessarily having to give up MLB talent or prospects. Cave is probably not the headliner of a deal, but may be a piece added to not have to give up both Lewis and Kirilloff to get a top notch starter.
  16. And Cave and Wade... Gonzalez should not be played in the outfield. Not that it really would have made a difference, but that won't be the first time Gonzalez costs the team runs in the outfield.
  17. I think he profiles as a great piece to highlight a trade for that stud pitcher the Twins so desperately need.
  18. Excellent move. Makes that lineup even deeper. So many possibilities with the order. Could get a little clogged with Donaldson, Cruz, and Sano on the basepaths, but hopefully they are just hitting each other in with mucho bombas! Hopefully the front office can now focus on making a trade or two to bring in a young fireballer and a solid veteran.
  19. Twins are fighting Berrios over $375,000. Seems like a petty line to draw if you hope to build good faith with the player for a potential extension.
