Is it time, Seth, to remove Arraez from the prospect list?  Heck, he may be the best rookie in the American League.

What a wonderful outing by Balazovic on his return from the Pan Am Games.  Assume there isn't time left in the season for him to move up.  Hopefully, he will lead the Miracle to a second championship.

Although Jax wasn't great, he wasn't terrible either in his first game at AAA.  Hopefully, he gets back to his usual self next time out.

I keep looking at the performances of the prospects and Luis Arraez continues to have the most frequent good stats.  I love the way he plays and of course he will soon lose his rookie status and be off the list.  I hope by then the top guys start hitting.

    2019 stats

    Lewis .235 .288 .368 .657

    Kiriloff 269 .330 .391 .721

    Larnach .305 .376 .448 .824

    Javier .162 .261 .306 .567

    Gordon .298 .342 .459 .801

    Jeffers .263 .334 .419 .753

    Arraez .353 .426 .443 .869

    Wallner .268 .359 .440 .800

    Rortvedt .242 .337 .385 .721

    Urbina .278 .380 .450 .830

    Blankenhorn .292 .340 .503 .843

I know - minor league stats (except Luis) but they do matter to me and our top two need to boost their performance, Javier needs to drop and I am sorry Gordon is on the IL he needs to see the majors for a few days.

Yeah, Arraez is no longer a "prospect"... just not sure if just deleting him is the right thing to do or if he should be replaced or kept.

Jax had a slow start. Could be nerves. Could be the ball. Not much to worry about there.

How is Gordon raked higher than Arraez? Name still?

OK I'll bite.  At least in 2019 Gordon wasn't ranked that much higher than Arraez.  Often after the top 10 you can rank the next 10 to 15 in almost any order based on how bullish you are on their skill set.  While offense (hit tool) remains the most important tool defense is pretty important too as is positional flexibility.

While Arraez has the superior bat and eye at the plate he suffers with the remaining tools that are measured.  The main reason I can see why Gordon would be ahead of Arraez would be that he grades out better for Speed, arm, and fielding.  Both players lack power in their game but Arraez has only hit 6 total HR's in his minors career whereas Gordon has hit 25 so he seems to have more power potential than Arraez though likely not much.

So in my opinion while Arraez has the better bat Gordon isn't too far off as he was hitting around 300 at AAA before being injured and an 800 OPS so it's not like he is a horrible offensive player. Gordon also has a bit more power potential to help offset some of that average and on base percentage that Arraez has.  Gordon has the arm, speed and fielding to play all 3 positions in the infield without being a defensive liability whereas I don't believe Arraez has that same ability.  I would say Arraez can play second base well but would be a defensive liability at Short and third as he lacks speed, and the arm to play those well.  So it comes down to what you value in a player as to where you rank them.

If you only value offense then I would agree that Arraez appears to be the superior player but if you add up all the tools I think it is harder put Arraez ahead of Gordon.

From a prospect perspective does that mean Gordon will be better than Arraez in MLB possibly not.  Tools and potential don't always translate the way we think they should but for prospect rating I don't have an issue with Gordon being ranked higher than Arraez because I can see a case for it.

Time to swap Cave for De Aza I'd say.

Prepare for the same kind of disappointment as with Cave's major league batting. They both have unsustainably high BABip at AAA. The balls stop falling in, the OPS plummets, even before taking into account the higher level of competition. De Aza, in his 30s by now, represents emergency depth only, IMO.

That said, he impressed me with a fine running catch in the RF corner, the game that I saw last week in Pawtucket, so it's not like I dislike the guy. If not for 40-man considerations I'd swap Cave and De Aza too. Give me a good show, I'm a fan for life - or at least until the next bonehead play. :)

IMO it makes sense to replace Arraez with another prospect on the list, I don’t think we need to see his numbers here anymore.

I would much rather have Wander Javier on my team than Nick Gordon. But certainly when we got a look at Arraez in MLB and went back to look at his minor league stats, it was so obvious he was better than Nick Gordon will ever be. Nick Gordon's ceiling is a 2nd division infielder, and that's after many years. Javier has a much higher ceiling.

I could somewhat understand if you put Gordon ahead of Arraez before this year, because without seeing Arraez vs MLB pitching, you wonder whether that no-power hit line could ever translate. But no excuse once you saw Arraez.

Arraez had exactly 30 MLB at bats when Twins Daily published their rankings.

I guess that makes sense... I was thinking he was around longer before midseason rankings. It would be cool to see where he'd rank addy the time of graduation. I'd think higher. what a meteoric riser.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion but I actually went and saw a game that Wander played in and came away very unimpressed.  Granted he is only 20 but he was swinging at a lot of air and his defense was horrible the night I saw him.

If you don't believe my eye witness account check out his stats this year on MILB.com He has a 40% K rate in A ball and his average is .162 and his OPS is a whopping .567.  Gordon was never that bad at that level.  Maybe Javier is hurt or not fully recovered from injury but his stats are horrible and he doesn't look good in person either.

With the lack of power Gordon looks destined for a utility role but right now today I would take him over Javier any day of the week.  Hopefully Wander gets it together soon and becomes what we all hoped he would become but this has been an ugly year for him the way he playing right now I wouldn't even have him in my top 30.

There is one thing I am waiting for and that is moving Arraez into the one or two slot in batting order. I Rocco likes Kepler in the one slot, but OBP has got to be a consideration I would think.
